Question about User:Fountain Posters on Commons

Hi, Anna (and talk page stalkers). Fountain Posters has been busy uploading new versions of images to Commons that are commonly used on Wikipedia.[1][2] Most of his new uploads claim he is adjusting levels, white balance, and curves, but as far as I can tell on my monitor, these new images are not an improvement but are instead, "washing" out the colors and making them all but unusable. Recent uploads that have me questioning this practice are here, [3], [4], [5], but there are so many, I wonder if he should be asked to stop doing this and if his uploads should be reverted. For example, is the brightness enhancement of this image an improvement? I really can't see how. Can someone weigh in here? I'm asking here because the community on Commons is impossible to deal with in any capacity, and the majority of these "enhancements" concern highly trafficked pages on Wikipedia. Viriditas, I can bring the issue to Commons, but I know Wikipedia editors can't do anything as Wikipedia editors there. Commons editors may have better luck and as I am almost sure Anna has an account there, she might be a better voice than mine. But I offer this in case Anna is busy and for all your help for me in the past. of course you didn't ask me, you asked Anna so I will await her reply.--Mark Miller (talk) 07:06, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I only looked at a couple of the images, but they were definitely not improved—on the contrary, “blown out” and oversaturated, with some hue shifts. The originals were a tad on the dull side, but to the extent that they may have needed adjustment, IMO a much lighter touch would be called for (possibly with better calibrated monitor & software).—Odysseus1479 07:18, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
I appreciate what he's trying to do. I try to fix images from time to time. The images he works on really do need slight adjustments. But, what he is doing is going way to far. You can up the gamma/brightness and contrast and saturate only so much, and that's it. Then it gets destructive. I've asked at IRC commons for someone to have a look at the thread here. Maybe we can get a dialogue going and he can tone down the one's he's done and improve future images more subtly. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:45, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
If not, perhaps one of us with photoshop can achieve better results and fix what has been done.--Mark Miller (talk) 07:49, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
I'm happy to help. But, "one of us" may not be enough. There are hundreds. I made a list (hope that's okay to do) in case we want to task-force it: User:Anna Frodesiak/Blue sandbox. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:16, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
I'm in. link the list on my talk page please and I will help out where I can! (oh look...you had it linked there. I am as blind as a bat)--Mark Miller (talk) 08:38, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
My sincere apologies if any of my image changes are poor. I shall bow down to everyone's better opinion and stop making any changes. Best wishes, Fountain Posters (talk) 09:21, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Fountain Posters. No worries at all, my friend. You were acting in good faith. Do you think you could join in to help sort things out? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:32, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
I just took a look at User:Fountain Posters images on another monitor, and they look OK. I wonder if the problem isn't the original monitor I used to view them. Hmmm...now I feel like an idiot. Viriditas (talk) 23:02, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
No. You are no idiot. Lots and lots of the images are way too tweaked. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:09, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Here's something to consider (and I would appreciate it if talk page stalkers would weigh in as well). I originally used a Windows machine to view the images and make my initial observations about how they looked blown out. However, I then looked at the same images on my linux machine and discovered that they looked fine. Then I visited Fountain Posters user page where I discovered that they may be using a linux machine to make these changes. Is there any connection between editing and viewing the images on a linux machine and then viewing them on a Windows machine? I know there shouldn't be, but this is my question. 'Cause I'm looking at them in Ubuntu right now and I don't see anything wrong with them. However, when I switch over to Windows, they look terrible. Now, I'm thinking it is just my monitor, but what's going on here? Viriditas (talk) 23:19, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Hello again. Sorry for causing any problems. I must bow down to the observations of the many. I definitely must be in the wrong if so many see the images as degraded. To answer Viriditus' monitor question I have two monitors, one old and one very new (but certainly not high end). I must admit that although I bought a calibrating device and configured them as suggested by the software neither seem to have a high brightness value - even the new one. Also, I remember reading that LCD monitors are not the best type to use as the image looks different according to the angle of view. Another error that I must have made is not taking enough breaks: one's eye and brain adjusts to see colours as good when a fresher pair of eyes can easily pick up colour hues. What is the solution to all this? I can revert ones that look wrong or even revert them all: it would take time but maybe this is what is needed. I have had one person send me a message in the past that I'd done a good job on one of their images; however, this is only one person not a bunch. I'm very very sorry. Has anyone got any advice or suggestions? One last thing I've noticed that images look good when they are displayed large on the Commons; however, when I see them reduced to be used on Wikipedia they don't look right: they seem to look oversharpened. I know that images usually need to be sharpened again when they are reduced in size. But that's a side line and doesn't explain the reported problems with gamma, brightness contrast and saturation problems. What does everyone think? Should I find and revert them all? If I do perhaps I can keep the one that someone sent a message to me to thank me about. Maybe that would be best. I'm also baring in mind that all the images that I have changed have been on subjects that I love. I'm so sorry that I've been the cause of this problem. Thanks to everyone you've all been so nice about it.Fountain Posters (talk) 00:20, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Viriditus is right. I do use GNU/Linux. However, looking at just some of the images that Anna has kindly listed I can certainly agree that they need reverting. Thanks for your help Anna. Can I start reverting now?Fountain Posters (talk) 00:31, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Fountain Posters, we should wait a bit for input from others, and to get organized. Also, really, no need to apologize. I've screwed things up royally. This image matter is not the end of the world.
Maybe we should use the list at the sandbox and go through the images and either revert, upload a better version, or take no action. Maybe this is not the best plan, so we ought to wait a few days for input from others to see how to best handle this. Also, we may be able to organize a crew--a bunch of editors who can each handle a numbered group of the images. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:23, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
It is possible I will be unavailable for through the weekend and possibly beyond (off and on), so I may not be much help for a while.--Mark Miller (talk) 07:09, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Anna for your work on making the very helpful list. Also thanks to everyone who want to help; however, I feel that I should be liable to reverting them all. Perhaps there is some way to work on half a dozen images and submit them to Anna and Viriditus for comments? That way I can learn how to edit images properly. With this in mind I'm sure that the histograms of each image should hold the key to learning what I did so wrong. I've a feeling that I've made the blacks with some detail 100% black and whites with detail 100% white. I'm all for more people to give their comments. I'm sure that I can learn a lot through hearing from them. Best wishes,Fountain Posters (talk) 16:50, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Okay. I guess there's no reason not to revert them. But, a spot-check shows that not all would be better going back to the original, dark version. I'll leave this in your hands from here on in. Please copy paste User:Anna Frodesiak/Blue sandbox into one of your sandboxes, so that you can work on things there. If there is anything you need, please let me know. Best wishes, and don't worry about too much. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:57, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi Anna, I've copied and pasted your Blue Sandbox here: User:Fountain_Posters/sandboxanna thanks for your help. Shall I call on you to assess how I've got on when I feel that things are better? Best wishes and thanks again for your help.Fountain Posters (talk) 22:31, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Fountain Posters. Okay. I'll delete the blue sandbox now. Sure, let me know if you want, but I trust you to sort things out. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:26, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Anna i have added information on the Corner Hotel in Richmond and the information i have added is correct. I was the owner of the venue when Mick Jagger and Pink Floyd played there and the information on the page is not 100% correct. I have tried to correct it and fill in the missing years and i hope i have done it within your guidelines as to me this is most important to it be accurate. The Corner Hotel has just been listed as the 14th best venue in the world and it is sad that the years that started that proud story are lost. with thanks Wayne Gale — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.68.207 (talk) 07:42, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Wayne4500/Wayne Gale. I absolutely believe you. I reverted before because it really diverged into content about you and was very self-promotional. The content you just added back about you is less substantial, and that is good. Some mention of you is appropriate. But, it is still self-promotional. "...Wayne Gale was the owner the cream of Australia's music industry...at one point he achieved 15 full houses...This was an outstanding achievement because..." That could use neutral rewriting. Anyhow, do you think there are sources out there to support the content you just added? If not, someone (not me) may remove it. Finally, don't forget to sign in to your account. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:56, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

why did you delete my user page? I will create it again. Please Don't delete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DRIDARASHTRAN (talkcontribs) 05:00, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, DRIDARASHTRAN. Because at least some of it was copy pasted from Encyclopedia Britannica, which is a copyright violation. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:35, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi - Samba spy case

Hi,

thanks for the message. Can i give credit to the writer to avoid copyright violation. The article i copy pasted is real truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Posina Rao (talkcontribs) 12:47, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Posina Rao. I'm afraid giving credit won't help. That would still be a copyright violation. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:52, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Peridon. Whoah! Thanks for catching that. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:28, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
While I sometimes miss typos in my own stuff (but catch 'em after saving), I tend to auto proof everything - remembering a letter that I caught that read 'xxxx may now be...' instead of 'xxxx may not be...'. One letter - complete reversal of intended meaning. Peridon (talk) 13:36, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
You're absolutely right. Actually, I almost always proof after, but not that time. I confess that I am watching the Mighty Boosh while editing. :) I will be more careful. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:39, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you so much, Yunshui. I am very happy to have some admin feedback. The fact that you dug into my actions and posts and didn't find anything recallable is also very relieving. From I.A.O.P.M.R.M.R.T.M.M.P.A.F.S.

Thank you, Anna you seem nice, but we don't know why you thought we would want to write an article on bugs.

We wrote a specific article on

Scott L. Fredricks Studios

& a person named "KWw" deleted it, & was very rude to us.

We do not have any other purpose, but to write the article that we tried to.

If you can find where it was deleted, to, we would appreciate it, & you can help us with that one.

Also, on another topic, we don't know how to put that long Rectangular Box in our article - the one that goes on the Right Hand side, of the Page , showing a Logo of a Company , its President , Address , URL etc.

We tried to look at the Templates but all they showed us was blank Pages.

So if you can find our writing on Scott L. Fredricks Studios , we can use your assistance, & if you can explain how to put that Rectangular Box on the Right Hand Side , we could also use your assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by I.A.O.P.M.R.M.R.T.M.M.P.A.F.S. 1. Search engines show that Scott L. Fredricks Studios is not notable. Please read WP:42.
  2. No bugs? Bugs are notable. Are you only interested in writing about your organization?
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:21, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
"Not notable" is an understatement. "Hoax" is more applicable.—Kww(talk) 04:08, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough, Kww. I saw a facebook url for Scott L. Fredricks and assumed that it could exist. (Facebook is blocked in China, so I couldn't check out the page.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:13, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Tman955. As I said in this edit to you talk page, which you've now deleted, I reverted almost everything you did. You mixed unsourced, but possibly good edits with vandalism, so that is the reason. What I did was not vandalism. It was protecting the encyclopedia. In the future, please only make good edits, okay? Your helpful edits are needed here. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:41, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Frog duplication

Thank you for pointing out that the article Rio Santiago poison frog exists as well as Excidobates captivus which I have started expanding. In sources, I have found the latter called "Santiago poison frog" but not "Rio Santiago poison frog". There has also been a change in the scientific name from Dendrobates captivus to Excidobates captivus. I propose doing a bit more expansion then merging the two existing articles and making suitable redirects. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:02, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Cwmhiraeth. Happy to help. There are a few ways to go about the merger, a simple redirect being a good choice. Let me know if you need a hand there. Did you notice my recommendations at User talk:Old Time Music Fan#Duplicate article? This is why I'm so big on making syn and common name redirects.
Oh, and the link to the other 'mysterious' species in that lead is okay? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:08, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
I have completed the article, done the merger and made a couple of redirects. I have also created a genus article as there are now three species, a new one having been described in 2012. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:28, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Splendid. Nice to see the genus article in existence, as well as a new froggie. I fixed a double redirect somewhere. I also looked for some sources to write about the toxins, but found none. It would probably be OR, but I suppose we could rub one of the frogs on somebody and film it to see what happens. I'm thinking maybe a hedge fund manager. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:39, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Haha! I don't have many hedge fund managers among my acquaintances. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:48, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Well, this is a big accusation but their initial contribution to the project exhibit so (pinging all, @Sanjay7kumar: @Tonysati: @Amitesh.punfilms: @Filmcrazy:). Holy moly! I'm terribly sorry. But, I don't understand. I see nothing here: [6][7][8]. Could you please clarify? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:04, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
It was a autoblock, I don't know properly. Just when I was trying to leave MusikAnimal a message. I saw a notice, above the edit box which said, I was caught on an autoblock. That means, you might have blocked an IP which is using the same public cyber I was using. It blocked every one using that IP and I'm one of them who was caught in the autoblock system. Autoblocks generally don't show up in Special:Log/block. Anyway, nothing big. Thanks, Jim Carter (from public cyber) 11:33, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

From I.A.O.P.M.R.M.R.T.M.M.P.A.F.S. again

Hi Anna, & thanks, for being nice.

No - no bugs. We're not in the bug business.

The letters with the dots, for us, stand for something, & it starts with "I.A. ..." ... "the International Association of" ... .

We're in the Entertainment & Studio area. You asked us, if we only wanted to write about "Our" Organization.

Scott L. Fredricks Studios is NOT our organization . We're NOT associated with them, but we were writing about them - it's our job.

And your friend "Kww" is close to looking at a law suit possibly by them, & definitely by us  !

We don't know if he actually works for Wikipedia , but Wikipedia may be getting sued by them ( Scott L. Fredricks Studios ) , & by us, because of the way he's acting.

So we've already said this, many times - we're NOT here to write on bugs, or anything else, except what our Reporters & Writers were doing, writing the Article that they did ( & in the way they did it ).

We need our copy of what we wrote, back, for our records, & for our own separate purposes.

We also need to know, how to put that Long Rectangular Box on the Right hand Side , there - the one that shows a Company Logo , Name of the Pres & CEO , Addresses , URL , etc. . — Preceding unsigned comment added by I.A.O.P.M.R.M.R.T.M.M.P.A.F.S. (talkcontribs) 22:02, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Request for a copy of the deleted article

Hi Anna,

Thanks for reviewing the article and your advises to improve the content within wikipedia format. I will make sure to follow them. As I am unfamiliar creating a content in wikipedia, I mistakenly submitted the content without reviewing my draft through the new article wizard. Can I have a copy of the deleted article, 'userfied', so I can keep working on it?

Thanks and best, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abilioyamane (talkcontribs) 15:14, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, Abilioyamane. At least some of the content is a copyright violation, a copy paste from one of the websites used. For that reason, I am unable to provide it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:36, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Also, the tone of the deleted article was promotional beyond salvage. If the organization is notable, it's easier to write a new draft from scratch, based on what reliable, independent sources report about them. Huon (talk) 16:30, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello, this is (Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist) (talk) 08:35, 1 August 2014 (UTC))

Thank you very much for reviewing my article. Please let me know what mistakes I' ve made to get it moved to the draft. I really appreciate your help. Thank you again. (Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist) (talk))

Hi, Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist). Actually, I didn't review it, but you can.
First, I am guessing that Draft:Tamas Nadas is the version you want, right? If so, please paste {{Db-author}} at the top of the other version, Draft:Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist) to show that you do not want it, so it can be deleted.
There is a 3 week backlog for review, so you have time to improve the draft. Read about peacock and weasel words. Strip out anything non-neutral. Stick only to the facts. No opinions. Find every single, reliable source you can out there and add it to the article to support the facts. That last point is very imporant.
If there is anything you need or have any questions, please ask. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:25, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Hello, I am sorry, but I am not clear where you want me to put this: {{Db-author}} I would like to have this page created: Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist), and would like to use the draft version instead of the user: Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist) version. The draft version is more complete. So, I am not sure, once again, where to put this: {{Db-author}}. Would you please help me? Thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist) (talkcontribs) 10:04, 1 August 2014‎ Tamas Nadas (Martial Artist)
It is okay now, probably. An admin moved/deleted page(s). I will not get into details unless you want me to, but now the only page that exists is Draft:Tamas Nadas. Please give a good read to this draft, as it may have been overwritten with an old version. Is this all okay now? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:09, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Anna, I do not see any improvement in Superfast1111's edits. Addition of OR, adding blogs as sources, booking engine of IR as a source. This article is just one example. Please intervene.  LeoFrank  Talk 11:03, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I think you should raise this at the wikiproject or dispute resolution. I don't see the blogs. I do not know anything about the IR booking engine. And I know nothing about trains. You complain about him. He complains about you. I'm the wrong venue to ask for intervention. Sorry. Oh, but I would like who keeps bolding every occurrence of the the article title in the body. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:01, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
I have removed all the blogs from the article. The user has stopped for now. But I don't see any effort on his side in trying to apply policies while editing. My guess was you were mentoring him, so I approached you (I may be wrong). He complains against anyone who criticizes his edits and he was blocked for that, but still continues and has a vengeance against me. I hinted that I would help, but instead he went on attacking me (with an attack image, you have seen that). So, I always avoid interacting with him.  LeoFrank  Talk 03:49, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Leo. I understand your plight. It must be hard to avoid the problem because you edit the same articles. It is fair for you to speak up about problems you see. I'll tell you what, please don't make me dig. Give me diffs to go on and I'll raise the issue with him. Also, if you can give me the link for that image again, I'll take a look. I think I remember that it was something like an MSPaint yellow arrow pointing to a sign stating he thinks you are wrong. I actually thought I nominated that one for deletion. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:07, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
This is the link. [[9]] although you are right, the image has been deleted but you have admin level privileges so perhaps it is possible for you to retrieve it. I unfortunately have removed it from my computer also but i can recreate it if you so desire. Slightly off-topic, but Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images sure has a lot of bug and windmill images. NorthAmerica1000 11:47, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

True. Someone else went a bit buggy and added almost all of those. I added most of the windmills, but they didn't sell. Do you have any items? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:48, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
No items offhand that require new articles, but check out my upload log anyway...NorthAmerica1000 11:52, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Wow, nice. But "Avalanche Sharks"???? Really? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:55, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Avalanche Sharks rules. I remember that film buff User:MichaelQSchmidt helped out a great deal to improve the article . NorthAmerica1000 12:05, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Also, check out List of windmills in Gelderland. Lots of windmill images there! NorthAmerica1000 12:17, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Just for fun, even more windmills below. Wow. NorthAmerica1000 12:18, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
That's a lot of windmills. They have no function, really. Turns out they built thousands because they just liked the way the thing went round and round. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:26, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

List of Bangladeshi dishes

Chhena Gaja

Considering boldly omitting the Vegetarian/non-vegetarian section in the table of List of Bangladeshi dishes. It's been empty from the article's inception, and several of the dishes can be prepared as both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. I think the article will have a cleaner layout in this manner. A "table-fu" request if you agree to this somewhat bold edit. It can always be reverted by another user if they want to utilize it. NorthAmerica1000 12:30, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the table layout; much appreciated! Cheers, NorthAmerica1000 23:22, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker). It's very simple. It is because you are obviously a troll/a sockpuppet/both. Ifalotaibi‎

I've blocked Ifalotaibi‎ for a week for vandalizing your user page, but I thought I should follow up, given the mention at AIV about the possibility its a compromised account. Seems odd that they would edit the same articles as before after an account compromise, but I can't figure out what else may have served as a trigger. Was wondering if you had any ideas. Monty845 03:03, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Monty845. If it is a compromised account, then they would have to have figured out how to click the watchlist. Maybe it's not compromised, but he's having a really bad day. I'm mystified. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:18, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
Ok, well unless more evidence is found that its a compromised account I'm just gonna leave it at a week, and see if we get an unblock request, and or how they act once it expires. Monty845 03:25, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough, Monty845. I'll keep an eye on the userpage, and will start checking the contribs after a week. Many thanks for your help with this. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:29, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Anna

I don't know if you still remember me. You reviewed my new Wikipedia webpage for the Asian productivity organization before and pointed out some copy right issues both in content and APO's logo picture.

Fortunately, Japanese and Korean Wikipedia pages were approved, so I would like to ask for some help to upload APO's logo.

Of course, the APO approved using the logo for Wikipedia pages for any languages.

I'll look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you so much in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwangyun.lee (talkcontribs) 01:17, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm so sorry, Kwangyun.lee. I did not see this post until just now. It had no heading, so I missed it. My apologies.
Yes, certainly, I can help. You can upload the logo (maximum 400x400 in size) to the Korean Wikipedia and Japanese Wikipedia, each for use at the respective articles. The article here must wait until it is accepted to have a logo.
Another choice would allow you to use on all three articles and only upload the image once, to one place. Upload the logo (any size) to Commons and then write an email to the organization asking them to release it. Here is the letter. Then, paste {{OTRS pending|year=2014|month=August|day=06}} to the commons image page.
I hope this works out for you. Let me know if you get stuck, and I will help. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:23, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

munshilaw page deleted

Hi, I am the copyright owner of the text and information published on www.munshilaw.com and am trying to create an article relating to my father, Mr. Aziz A. Munshi, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan.

I have updated the information on www.munshilaw.com to grant permission for copying, modifying and reusing the text and information found on www.munshilaw.com under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).

I am aware that there are guidelines about editing pages if there is a potential conflict of interest, so I would like to disclose here that these contributions are made on behalf of my father, Mr. Aziz A. Munshi, and in consultation with him, and I intend to follow all of Wikipedia's guidelines, including those on WP:COI, WP:RS, WP:V and WP:NPOV, very closely. My aim is to work with and seek advice from impartial editors to make positive contributions to the article on Mr. Aziz A. Munshi, hopefully leading to a much improved article.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanking you,

Abdullah Munshi--Munshilaw (talk) 01:21, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Munshilaw. Well, that was a very good idea. Now, you can use the content verbatim. Please feel free to recreate Draft: Aziz A. Munshi. Find lots and lots of good media references to support the article and help satisfy WP:GNG. Plenty of good references is really the secret to getting an article accepted.
About your username, it is the same as your website. So, please just abandon this username and create another, or, put in for a change via Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple. The latter choice will carry your editing history to your new account. If that is not imporant to you, then simply take the first choice.
If there is anything you ever need or have any questions, please ask. Thank you, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:37, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Anna: I see you have restored the user page as no longer copyvio, but I don't think it is at all suitable as a user page, per WP:UPNOT and WP:NOTWEBHOST - it would certainly get deleted if taken to MfD. As I understand it, it is not even about this user, but about his father, and it is pretty promotional: "belongs to a respectable family... a very accomplished Constitutional lawyer... " etc. What I propose is to move it to a subpage, say User:Munshilaw/Aziz A. Munshi and tell him to tidy it up, add indepoendent refs and submit it at AfC. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:14, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
I totally agree, JohnCD. I meant to go back and handle it. I will move it as you suggest and tag it with {{subst:AFC draft|Munshilaw}} to get it into the system. Also, I did notice the "belongs to a respectable family... a very accomplished Constitutional lawyer... ". I will mention that to him. Many thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:26, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Good, thanks. I have put "userspace draft" on top. I suggest not submitting yet as it would be bounced for lack of independent references.
It's a continually recurring problem that on sites like Facebook the user page is where you tell the world about yourself, and everyone thinks Wikipedia user pages are the same. I wish everyone could be made to read, before signing up, a single screen of information about what WP is, and more importantly what it isn't. JohnCD (talk) 10:32, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for that, JohnCD. It now seems abandoned. Oh, well.
I vaguely remember a discussion about some sort of notice screen like that. It would be a good idea. Maybe even just a big, red box with a single sentence on the sign-up page would help. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:29, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi there

Hi Anna,

I am sorry that the link i added to Yorkshire water was removed, as you can see from my account it was my 1st edit. so i am still learning the rules of Wikipedia....

I do need to pick your brains tho, if i wanted to add a page about a different business i assume that i just add a page then fill it with information and make sure that i write it as a 3rd party (as in not do it as self promotion?)

and include any relevant links to the official website, published information etc etc..... am i making sense? or just talking jibberish?

I look forward to your reply and fingers crossed getting my 1st page published with Wikipedia

Cheers

Chris — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisb8996 (talkcontribs) 09:56, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Chrisb8996, and welcome. :)
I removed your link you added in this edit per WP:ELNO.
As for "adding" a page, do you mean creating a new article? Do you have a conflict of interest? Would this be an article about a business?
When creating a new article, it is best to prepare it via WP:AfC. Gather lots and lots of references. Also, please read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) first. Let me know if I can help. Oh, and if you just want to write an article in general, you might be interested in starting one of these articles:
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:42, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Ah, I now understand that http://www.cool dash fuel.co.uk, the link you added, is the same as http://www.yorkshirewater.com, so it is okay per WP:ELNO but still should not be there as redundant. (I am in China where the cool fuel site is blocked, so I had to rely on others at a chat channel to find out what was there.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:45, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
I also understand that http://www.cool dash fuel.co.uk is not registered to Yorkshire Water. Perhaps you could shed some light on that. Is it an offical Yorkshire Water site?
Others watching this thread are very welcome to comment. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:53, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Anna,

I appreciate your input on my submission for a Zyntony page in Wikipedia. We are a new corporation and have had several people ask what Zyntony is. It certainly is an unusual name which we have trademarked. Since most corporations have a Wikipedia page, we followed their outline in presenting factual information about the company rather than promotional information. I would appreciate your guidance in structuring the content to what is appropriate.

Thanks, Richard Burnett — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.192.199.246 (talk) 15:53, 5 August 2014 (UTC) == Zyntony ==

Hi, Richard. Actually, my input was to delete your submission. I'm sorry about that, but I had to do it because it was simply information about your organization with no references. Plus, your username is the same as your company.
I searched for information about your company. It fails Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) an even the general notability guidelines for organizations. Please read WP:42 for a very simple explanation as to why most corporations do not have a Wikipedia page.
Don't worry. If your company gets notable enough for an article, you needn't promote it via Wikipedia. I'm sure others will notice, and write the article. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:01, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Fishlover2. You are back. We last communicated in 2013. I must ask: Are you here to build the encyclopedia? Wow! So, Baxter1989 lied. That is quite some list. Good. This gives us the right to block any and all subsequents per abusing multiple accounts. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:33, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Logical Cowboy, a couple of loose ends: What about MindtrickRob and Pagena? And should we be going into the blocked socks' creations for speedy tagging, and contribs for removal? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:50, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, good teamwork there! I am happy to see if I can find other contribs that need to be undone. The other question is whether collaborators should also be looked at by CU. E.g., Klokus appeared to collaborate with SPAs on these AfDs (note they are tagged as SPAs). [15] [16] [17] So should those SPAs also be looked at by CU, as possibly part of the sockfarm? Klokus claimed that he/she was working alone, but we now know that was untrue. Thanks. Logical Cowboy (talk) 22:49, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Logical Cowboy: Indeed. If they showed up to support Klokus, and Klokus is New Zealand, then they are likely part of the farm. I think all of the socks from any AfD's need a CU. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:46, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
OK, I will do that soon. What do you think about this re-created deleted article, from a "new" account? Wheels (film) Was the original one from NewZealand123? Can't see who the original editor was. Thanks. Logical Cowboy (talk)
Please see addition to SPI here [18]. Logical Cowboy (talk) 14:25, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Hmmmmmm, unrealated. Odd. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:22, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Djhekpk. You are not permitted to use your userpage for your bio in the first place, and you were promoting. For example:

  • "...With over twenty years of experience DJ Hek has mastered the art..."
  • "...You can follow Dj Hek on th e following links..."

"List of..." article guidelines?

I've cleaned up enough "List of..." articles that some meta-level good ideas and best practices have become evident to me. Is there some WP or MOS article where such wisdom is collected? I've done some searching, but have only come up with a technical article on the syntax of lists. If a good article on the subject exists, I'd like to read it for further enlightenment, and to have a place to direct new editors to for guidance. If it doesn't exist yet, perhaps I and other interested editors could write one. I see the same mistakes being made, fixed (sometimes), and discussed repeatedly on the Talk pages of various "List of..." articles, and would like to see the wasted editorial energy redirected to better purposes. Or has somebody already tried to do this and given up? You've been around for a while, and have taken an interest in various "List of..." articles; I'm interested in your experience with this. Reify-tech (talk) 16:39, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Reify-tech. Well, I've given it some thought. What are the good ideas and best practices that you have in mind? There is Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Stand-alone lists, although that is more of a guideline that anything about style. Adding guidelines anywhere is tough. There is the valid concern about instruction creep. Plus, it is hard to propose anything, even the addition of a sentence, without it being immediately objected to. Also, I know that there are lots who do not like the list of X table format. I used to like it a lot more. I do find it ugly, but that sortability is just so useful. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:08, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the pointer; I will go read it and see what it says already. In terms of implementation, I'm thinking of something like a boilerplate hidden Editorial Note to place in the article Wikisource where it is most likely to be seen by editors. Perhaps a Template which can be optionally be used to save repetitive copy-and-paste. Reify-tech (talk) 14:27, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Reify-tech. That sounds interesting. What would it look like? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:04, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Why did you delete my page. ??? I just had my bio there. You said it's not to promote oneself ? but I see profiles of actors all over wikipedia with links to their Imdb page and websites.

User:Sri Rupaji Anant Charitable Trust/User:Absolute Healing

It was nice of you to unblock this user (too nice? CIR, IDIDNTHEARTHAT and NOTHERE are looking more and more applicable), but in future cases like this, it would be more sensible to have the user file a CHU request rather than getting them to register a new account. There's now no clear direct connection back from Absolute Healing to Sri Rupaji Anant Charitable Trust, despite them being the same user. As a rule, unless they're under a {{softerblock}}, they need to get their account unblocked and change the name rather than creating a new account, since doing so is technically block evasion.

Best of luck explaining things to them; you are - as always - demonstrating patience that would make a saint look rash and belligerent. Yunshui  10:41, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Oh Yunshui, that reminds me. I ought to block User:Sri Rupaji Anant Charitable Trust.
Yes, good point. I can ask him to put a notice at the top of his user and talk pages delcaring his old account.
I'm confused about how it could be block evasion. I unblocked allowing him to register the new account, so he wasn't blocked when doing so. Sorry to be such a dunce. What am I missing? Anyway, yes, next time I will insist on usernamechange procedure. I have always done so in the past. I offered username abandonment this time because of slight CIR on his part.
Absolute healing? Is that a thing?!?!?? :) :) :)
And thanks for the compliment. You must be laughing your head of at this comedy of errors. My patience is being tried a bit on this one. I'm still a bit cross over the Changgogoi‎ thing. Talk about using Wikipedia for a free ride, making a mess in the car, and not even offering a bit back for gasoline. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:53, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Okay, this is amusing: " Anthony Bradbury (talk | contribs | block) deleted page User:Sri Rupaji Anant Charitable Trust ‎(G8: Redirect to a deleted or non-existent page)" ahaha I had to laugh. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:55, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Hadn't realised you'd unblocked him to allow the new account to be created. Not evasion, then; just a bit... unusual. With an editor like that, I'd expect that one would want to keep a record of the contributions under his previous account, especially since he was blocked for promotional editing. The way you went about it wasn't wrong, per se, just a bit unorthodox.
As regards "Absolute healing" being a thing, as far as I can tell: outside of his head, it isn't. Yunshui  11:01, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
I will definitely not do anything so unusual again. :) Here is another good reason why: I had to click save at one then the other really quickly before Anthony Bradbury saw [19][20] Hahaha. Oh, and we both know this isn't going to end well, or at least almost certainly without any decent productivity. Now I see why admins end up in the rubber room drawing with their feet. From DTVKit

Hi Anna, can you clarify from your message that I need to register a new account under my personal name and then I can edit DTVKit page from there? (DTVKit (talk) 13:34, 8 August 2014 (UTC))

Hi DTVKit. Yes, please just abandon that username and pick another or put in for a username change. See the link at your talk page. It doesn't have to be your personal name, and in my view, is best if it is not. The account must represent only you and not be the name of your organization, basically.
Also, I see that the draft at your userpage has been moved to draft space. I was hoping that wouldn't happen. Now it needs to be reviewed by someone. I googled it and it has little chance of becoming an article. In fact, many other administrators would have simply deleted it and blocked your account for self-promotion. So, I must ask, after reading the general notability guidelines for organizations, do you still think the article is fit for Wikipedia? The other question is are you interested in helping to build the encyclopedia without adding any content related to your organization? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:18, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Greenlight Erica

Anna,

One oddity about User:Greenlight Erica is that the promotional material was placed there by a different user (Ebardin04), so maybe Ebardin should be blocked and Erica should get the benefit of the doubt? Oiyarbepsy (talk) 14:38, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Oiyarbepsy. Greenlightjobs is the org being promoted and a search shows them to be the same person. I will block them both. Objections? And thank you for bringing this to my attention. You did the right thing. It is nice to see people assuming good faith. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:53, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Same universe?

Hi! We must be in the same universe today because I was about to stub out the article on Qori Kalis Glacier but you beat me to it! Nice job too! Best wishes.--MONGO 15:34, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi MONGO. I'm reading your mind, so no matter what article you are working on, I'll know and write it first. :) Seriously? You were actually about to do that one? Well, of all the gin joints on all the glaciers.... :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:48, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
I have a thick skull but once inside it's pretty easy to read what little data I have....lol. I was reading over the Quelccaya Ice Cap article and saw the Qori Kalis Glacier article was not linked and it was misspelled.... so I went to link it which I do immediately prior to doing a stub and found it was blue linked...to an article you did just today. Seemed pretty odd as you put it...again, nice job...perhaps you can shoot it to DYK.--MONGO 16:31, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
MONGO: Ha ha. :) Sounds like my skull. Wow. Small world, especially if you're a glacier and humans are around having their brief fling with existence. (Joke: Another planet says to Earth: "You look sick." Earth replies "Yeah, I have humans. I'll be fine before you know it.")
I'm not sure about the DYK. The sources all really talk about a single scientist's work (Lonnie Thompson). Plus, he said around ten years ago that it would be gone in five, so who knows if it even exists any more? Do we have glacier articles that use "was"? This one could be a first. Anyway, the article has a lot of mumbo jumbo about what it used to be like. It looks flashy with the animated gif and all, but will likely be a disappointment to readers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:32, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
I just looked at Google Earth imagery dated to just 2012 and the glacier is still there...it terminates at a proglacial lake and flows west from near the northwest side of the ice cap. I believe Thompson tends to underestimate glacier lifespans...he also said the glaciers in Glacier National Park (U.S.) would all be gone by 2025 and that is not going to happen...but the retreat of glaciers in the tropics and midlatitudes is alarmingly fast...and it's hard to not say its due to anthropogenic climate change...other factors may very well be causing the retreat but the most obvious reason appears to be due to us. Anyway, yes, we do have a few glacier articles that document vanished glaciers such as Timpanogos Glacier and a few others.--MONGO 23:56, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Still there, good. I hope it lasts. And yes, a lot of scientists say humans are "likely stuffed any second now". Probably more accurate is "humans are definitely stuffed, but we need a bit of time to complete the job".
So I guess "buried" means "gone". Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:26, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
In the traditional sense, yes, the Timpanogos Glacier is gone, but there is apparently a substantial amount of ice under the talus.--MONGO 06:36, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Anna, ref: DTVKit my username has now been approved and changed. Yes it was moved to draft by one of the moderators, I believe this is going to be a Wikipedia worthy article eventually. As the community grows and our members and non-members make reference to how DTVKit has helped them this will increase the references/sources. I do not believe it is self-promotion - if that is the case then please advise why other similar organisations such as Wyplay and Khronos Group have been approved? If you could clarify the difference I would be very grateful. Thanks

Amy (Amy Cleary (talk) 15:37, 8 August 2014 (UTC))

Hi, Amy. First, please read Wikipedia:Otherstuffexists. We search for articles that do not satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and eliminate them. Unfortunately, your draft has a small chance from what I see. But, I could be wrong. I have to use Bing (don't laugh) because I'm in China and Google is blocked here. Maybe Bing is missing it, but I don't see lots and lots of refs. If you find say, 6 or 7 good ones, I can see it being approved. Can you?
Now, my other question: Are you only interested in writing about your company? Is that the only reason you are at Wikipedia, or are you thinking of contributing some of your expertise?
Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:48, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Anna, at the moment it is in very early stage of draft...how long do I get until I have to send it for approval? This means I need some time to get approx 5 references ready to put on there and then I really hope it will get approved, particularly as it is a not-for-profit organisation and therefore not promoting business.
Yes possibly, what is the process?
Thanks (Amy Cleary (talk) 15:59, 8 August 2014 (UTC))
Hi, Amy. You have ages, maybe six months before it gets deleted.
There is no process. Basically we just click on articles and type what seems to be needed to make them better. You can check out a few links at the welcome thingy I pasted at your talk page. A talk page block

Hi, I saw you recently blocked talk page access for Angelo Trovato (talk · contribs). Just to forestall a misunderstanding, can I ask if this was because of this [21] vandal post? In that case, it would be a false alarm, because the IP wasn't Angelo Trovato but Wikinger on one of his routine sprees. If that's the only reason for the talk block it would be better to lift it. Fut.Perf. 14:14, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. I have restored his talk page access. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:30, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Sorry Fut.Perf., I didn't quite answer. Yes, that was the only reason. It was such egregious vandalism. I know Angelo has made few or no efforts to communicate with anyone, so I thought it might be an outburst. Anyway, sorry to you and Angelo. I hope neither of you are upset. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:30, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Me? No, of course not :-) Just wanted to make sure Wikinger didn't manage to get some other editor wrongly in trouble again; he likes trying to do that sometimes. Nasty little rat, that one. Fut.Perf. 15:34, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Ah, okay. I am relieved. All's well that ends well. That, Wikinger, I just don't understand some people. So many wonderful, constructive things to do with his short time on Earth. Such a waste. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:38, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Overzealous editor and misguided competition?

Please look at Talk:Tram#Unhelpful infobox. This little discussion started when User:Fremantle99 added a singularly unhelpful infobox and photo to Tram. IP editor User:120.21.128.215 eventually noticed it and removed it. Some time later, Fremantle99 reinstated it, whereupon it was removed by User:G-13114. Fremantle99 promptly restored it, and then I took it out again, and initiated a good faith discussion on the Talk page. "Aneditor" then joined in to defend the bogus infobox, and I responded in good faith.

Somewhat later, I realized that "Aneditor" was actually Fremantle99 posing under a different name. I then poked around into the logs, and found the situation described in Talk:Tram#Unhelpful infobox. I'm rather annoyed that I was fooled (briefly) by a rather transparent dodge. Do you think the reprimand I wrote was too harsh, or was it too mild? Also, the one-man competition in Wikipedia:WikiSnap Challenge strikes me as bizarre and possibly counterproductive. Is any further action needed, or should the situation just be monitored for further developments? I have little experience dealing with this kind of affair, so I look to you as a friendly and far-more-experienced admin for advice. Reify-tech (talk) 13:41, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay, Reify-tech. I am looking into it now. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:40, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Okay, Reify-tech, I think I've read everything relevant. No, I do not think you were too harsh. Some of his edits have been a bit uncontructive and the "Aneditor" deception was exactly what it looked like, deception.
If you are worried, you can always play it safe in the future by being deliberately less harsh, and then seeing what the response is. That keeps the options open just like vandal warning levels do. It gives the recipient a chance to see where things are headed and the onus is on them to correct. If they don't, you will have been patient and have given due warnings. Further, being more harsh than appropriate means you've done something wrong, and you cannot easily go backward from that. However, if you are under harsh, you can always go the next step if needed.
While we are on the topic of this editor, could you do a copyvio check for me? I can't access the .fr site. [22][23] Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:48, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the confirmation that the "Aneditor" ruse was a little underhanded; I thought it smelled bad. I have a very long fuse, and tend to escalate things slowly (sometimes too slowly, perhaps). I don't go looking for fights (but beware of backing me into a corner). I'm much more of a builder than a warrior type.
I had no trouble getting to the .fr site; it must have been down when you tried it. I used Duplication Detector and found nothing. I tried Earwig's Copyvio Detector, and got a match with an Aussie forum (http://railbastard.freefo**ms.org/dunny-roll-the-right-way-and-the-wrong-way-t3181-30.html), but it was a copy from the Wikipedia article. However, I don't have much experience chasing down copyvios, so I don't know if I'm using the correct tools in the optimum way. What tools and methods do you use?
I'm curious about what you think of Wikipedia:WikiSnap Challenge. Does it have any "official" status at all, or is it just one editor's "fantasy football" project? Is it a problem, or is it "mostly harmless" and best handled by ignoring it? I'm skeptical of incentives for quantity that disregard quality, and think that the competition could have done great harm. But nobody else has taken the bait, and the one-man competition apparently has been running since the end of last year. The primary negative effects seem to be on the edits of the one person who set up the contest.
As for me, I'm disinclined to enter contests (and thus, rarely win them). On the few occasions I've actually set my mind to it, I've won a few, but the external rewards weren't a big deal to me and I failed to get "hooked" on the process. In retrospect, I realize that a few articles I've worked on, such as Platform gap and Useless machine, were potential DYKs. But I'm still unfamiliar with the hoops and hurdles of the process, and I'm not sure I'd want to bother with them, instead of just going on to work on another article. I've only created one article from scratch, though I've suggested a number of them, and have done major work once somebody else started a few of them. Perhaps this is an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect? Anyway, I'm not here for fame and glory, and doubling my paycheck here won't make much difference. 8^) Reify-tech (talk) 00:53, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
You do seem like you have a long fuse, and I think you were justifiably annoyed. All we can do is watch and hope for future good contributions.
I am blocked from the .fr site because I am in China. Lots are blocked here. Thanks for checking. I usually just dump a string into google (bing now that google is blocked) and see what comes up. The .fr site showed a match, but I couldn't access the page. I am a compulsive copyvio checker. When I see text additions in the +1000+ range, I usually spot check. Anyway, it is probably okay to drop the .fr thing as nothing serious came up.
Yes, mostly harmless, I think. How could it be harmful?
Platform gap and Useless machine are great!!! I love those kinds of articles.

Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho

I noticed you write about lakes in the northeast with French names, you may be interested of this AMAZING lake bordering Canada & Washington in North Idaho. All the North Idaho names are French. & there are more Basque in Boise, Idaho than anywhere outside of Spain. Lake Pend Oreille (the locals named a town with the phonetically English "Ponderay") it is one of the deepest lakes in America & submarines were tested there for WWII. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macsimillian (talkcontribs) 03:43, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Are you also in the habit of harassing editors for following WP:Article titles?....I mean a string puller? --DonCasT2talk — Preceding undated comment added 01:51, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Your edits are being disputed and reverted. Plus, you are not making sense. You also appear to be a sockpuppet of Masu7. Until that is determined, the bottom line is that you are not following WP:BRD. You are simply trying to force your views. Please stop and get consensus for the changes you wish to make at the articles' talk pages. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:56, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
You can pull your strings any way you like and ban or try to discourage master editors. As long as wikipedia is available will contribute quality articles to it. You said at the talk page that you were planning in the near future to expand the article ... however, that was over two years ago. I am thinking of doing so with some pictures I've takn in China; I've found more sources. Are you still interested in doing so, or can I go ahead? Daniel Case (talk) 04:35, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Daniel. Please go ahead, my friend. Sorry to have ignored the stub. I probably couldn't find sources, gave up, and went on to other things. Please try to find sources that affirm that this type of garment will not catch on with the adult crowd. The world would definitely be a better place without that! I look forward to seeing the images you've found. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:08, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
They're not found, they're ones I actually took in Beijing earlier this year(here and here). Both in public parks. I'm sure you see plenty of the same down where you are (probably more so since it's so nice and warm there all year).

Basically, the article as it will become will discuss the history of the concept (Jan Wong writes about using them for her own son when she returned to Beijing for The Globe and Mail, and speculates that it might have evolved from China being short of just about everything except people, so that a method of toilet training that required the child to seek help from any nearby adult was likeliest to work well), the tendency of urban Chinese to associate their use in cities with people from the countryside (along with all the attendant stereotypes, I suppose), the apparent hope of said urban Chinese and Western diaper manufacturers that that the use of that product will eventually displace the kaidangku (I've been to China twice in the past year, and I think we both know that that's going to take a long time to happen), and the embrace of kaidangku by some Western advocates of elimination communication as a toilet training method (there have been some reported uses of them in the streets of hipster neighborhoods in Brooklyn; reportedly if you shop in the right stores in Chinatown (or today, I daresay, Flushing (ironically enough)), you can get them for a dollar).

I'm also wondering if I will get more of this sort of cultural resistance in the process (I relented to him on the grounds that the article was a stub and didn't need so many pictures (currently it has yours of the pants on sale in Haikou). Especially if I go my usual route and submit the expanded article to DYK. With the picture. Daniel Case (talk) 16:49, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Daniel. Took! I meant took, not found. I think my hands wanted to type "found" because I handle a lot of copyvio matters here at enwp.
I am astonished that you can think of so much to write about on this topic. I am always at a loss to come up with interesting aspects. It is no wonder. I read you userpage and you write so well.
Yes, they are widely used here. Thank goodness. There is plenty of rubbish thrown from passing motorbikes into the forest along the roadsides, and lots of diapers among it. Quite a statement about people's concern for their kids' future. Widespread use of diapers in China would devastate the environment. And I agree that kaidangku will not soon be replaced, mostly because of the cost of diapers, and this being a traditional society. Change somes slowly.
"Flushing". Funny. I hear that diapers are still widely used in the revolting town of Landfill, Iowa. The sign on the way in reads "You are now regretfully entering Landfill, Iowa -- population: rats".
I had never heard of elimination communication. I'm still confused by it. I think the lead lacks a clear definition.
You must of heard adults whistling-hissing to prompt babies to pee. I can't find anything about that in any articles. I added it ages ago to Urination in this edit, but it has since been removed. It should probably be mentioned somewhere in Toilet training.
I do not think you will get cultural resistance.
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:38, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the barnstar! I'm glad you have enjoyed it ... even I was surprised by things I found, like the admonition from the Chinese baby-advice page about the "bad habits" boys may develop if you dress them in clothing with easy access to their, uh, tools.

I'm almost done; have to write the section on Western adoption of the pants, and then put the other pictures back in (Didn't realize there were articles in the Chinese, Japanese and Korean Wikipedias, either). Then I'll take it to DYK. Daniel Case (talk) 05:45, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Daniel. You are most welcome. Well deserved! It will make a great DYK.
Aside, so, anything about the whistling as I mentioned above? I was saddened to see it removed. It could use a source or two and could go in any one of several articles. No worries if you don't want to touch that one. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:56, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
The whistling is mentioned in the "use" section ... search for the "ba" string (Wish I knew how to represent that in Chinese ... any hints on your end?) Daniel Case (talk) 06:10, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Daniel. The ba you are referring to is like the "bunch" character "把", and you put it together with pee to make "把尿" or bǎniào, which is the action of holding the baby in that position so it can pee. The whistling sound thing uses "xū", this character: "嘘", which means to make a sort of hiss or long breathing out. So, together with pee you say "嘘尿" or xūniào which refers to the sound you make to make the baby pee. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:30, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I could only use the , since it's supported by the source, although I'd love to include the rest, but that clears so much up ... it's technically a reference to the position one is holding the infant in, not the sound, which then metonymically stands in for the whole process of toilet training that way. At least the way Wong seems to use it.

You know, I actually did take a picture in Temple of Heaven Park of an old man holding a tinkling child up in the bushes (well, in the median of the walkway to the subway stop, basically in plain view (or I wouldn't have taken it, even though I'd been advised that the Chinese don't mind). I might actually have used it, but for the fact that I took it without looking through the viewfinder, so it came out with them out of focus (although it's still pretty obvious what's going on). I sort of wish I'd tried better; it would illustrate perfectly.

I also saw, on my trips to China, a kid with nothing on below the waist poop on The Bund (no less!), followed by his mother pointing to it looking expectantly past us in the crowd toward (I guess) his father, and a little boy peeing in the bushes (standing up) with his father behind him just outside the Summer Palace. Though in fairness I saw something similar in Jerusalem once, and who am I to talk, really? I took my son into the bushes a few times when he was younger (though I always took measures to be out of public view).

I have, as you may have been able to see, more or less finished the article, put the pictures in and nominated it for DYK. We'll see how this goes ... I have credited you as a coauthor for all the inspiration and encouragement you provided, as well as your help with the Chinese. Daniel Case (talk) 04:19, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Daniel. Ah, the freedom to go where you like and not wear trousers. This is China. :) Wonderful. The parents tend to scoop it up and put it somewhere -- hopefully not in the garbage bin, as there is a lot of manual recycling.
A pity you didn't get a good bǎ shot. Of all the images of human urination that we have at commons, not a single one. I will try to snap a photo soon.
I certainly deserve no credit for the content in the DYK. The before/after shows that. :) As for inspiration, encouragement, and help with the ba thing, well, still peanuts. The article, well that is quite something. I still cannot believe how much you came up with. It is fantastic, and will be a terrific DYK. Well done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:41, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Oh, you do, AFAIC.

It will be running Monday morning (your time, in Hainan) and Sunday night (my time, on the U.S. East Coast). The reviewer loved it and thanked us both—said he learned things. They'll be using the first hook, about how Chinese parents are using them less while Western parents use them more. And, of course, the picture (Interesting note: this will come right after the previous set of hooks, which uses my picture of Squaw Island. I wonder if this would be the first time the same user has had photos grace a consecutive set of hooks. Daniel Case (talk) 01:59, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Did you see what they did? Beeblebrox got all hot and bothered about it (apparently he thought the kid was about to crap) so they not only took out the picture (as if they couldn't have used the one you took instead, of the pants on sale?), they busted the hook down to non-lead status ... all without even asking me for input as both writer and photographer. Incredible. Daniel Case (talk) 05:53, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
It is an outrage! Commented at the main talk. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:17, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Eplanet977.
Okay, thanks. Answers 2 and 3 clear things up. Answer 1 does not. Question 1 again: Is this account you are using yours personally, or is it the official Miss Heritage International account? How many people use this account?
Now a new question: Are you here at Wikipedia only to help get publicity and promotion for your organization?
Finally, your organization may be notable enough for an article. I don't know. If you can show me a nice long list of media references (see WP:42), then maybe I can help create your article. Can you find those website urls and paste them in a nice long list here at this page? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:56, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

A new barnstar for you!

The Civility Barnstar
for your infinite patience in handling a troublesome editor WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:21, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, my friend. :) I think he means well, but is just going a bit too fast with things. I honestly think that he should write only a couple of sentences and let the references do the work for him. If only a third are good, and considering the international nature of the org, it could easily pass WP:ORG. The more he tries, the greater the chances of declines and deletions as promo and copyvio, and then blocks and no article and grief... This is a case of "less is more". :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:33, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Your Photography

Ms. Frodesiak:

Having spent a lot of time looking through photos of China, I have come across quite a few of yours and I think they are fantastic!

I wanted to thank you for licensing the photos as Public Domain and let you know that in accordance with that license we have incorporated some of your photos into our website and apps.

Today we launched HANYU.CO, a Mandarin Chinese language learning service. Instead of the drab, generic stock photos most sites like this use we want to highlight China’s scenery, culture and history with fantastic photography, of which certainly yours qualifies.

In addition to our own photos, so far we have collected roughly 175 high resolution photos from third parties that are each showcased with the various language lessons. We have chosen six of your photos (and one you retouched) to be included.

If you are interested, this page shows all of the photos we’ve collected, their authors and the image licenses. http://www.hanyu.co/contributors.aspx You are of course given attribution for your photos on the website and within the apps.

If you have any questions at all or any concerns, please do let me know.

Thanks again!

Thank you, Michael (and Doug)! Around half of my photos you picked were actually donated and not taken by me. I will pass on the thanks and the website url. By the way, lovely site with lovely pics! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:05, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of article

Hi Anna,

I tried creative my personal article page and it had been deleted. Some one created it for me a couple of weeks ago,but it was deleted. So they told me to upload it myself and now it keeps being deleted. Can you let me know what I need to do on my end to fix the problem. Thank you for your help. My user name is NatashaMcCrea. The article I tied to submit was Natasha Dixon (McCrea is my new married name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natashamccrea (talkcontribs) 20:11, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hi @Natashamccrea:. As a rule of thumb, writing an article about yourself is frowned upon, mainly due to our notability requirements for articles. Personally, I don't know anything about you so I can't judge, but you can check out our autobiography page, and try starting either through this process or go through our Articles for Creation team. Dusti*Let's talk!* 20:45, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Natashamccrea: To be clear, you paid someone a couple of weeks ago to create your article. That person is blocked at Wikipedia for creating and abusing many, many accounts, colluding with others off-wiki, and creating articles for people without declaring that she is a paid editor. In fact, it is entirely possible that you are this paid editor in question, pretending to be the subject.
I deleted your article because it was exactly the same content that you paid for. That is her creation, and creating an article with that content is a violation of WP:G5. Considering that you first paid for an article, have now arrived to restore that same article, and have made no edits other than to your article, I have to assume that you are here only to promote yourself. That is not what Wikipedia is for.
I very strongly suggest that you allow someone completely uninvolved to discover that an article ought to be written about you. Not a paid editor. Not you. Not a friend. Nobody with a conflict of interest. Be patient. If the article suddenly reappears at Wikipedia, editors working in the area of WP:SPI can easily determine with behavioural evidence or check user, who is behind the article. The very fact that it so quickly reappears would be very suspicious in itself. As the likely result would be deletion of the article, recreating it may be more difficult.
To conclude: Be patient. I strongly suggest that you wait a couple of years. If you are notable, somebody will probably write about you. In the meantime, do things to get more notable. Promote yourself elsewhere. Call the magazines and get them to do a story about you. Thank you for your understanding. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:35, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Yet another lighthouse template

Hi Anna. I thought it was time to get rid of some redlinks from {{Europe topic}} that would never be filled, so I just scribbled up {{Lighthouses in Europe}}. Now we've got a default navbox without any links to landlocked countries. De728631 (talk) 21:32, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, De728631. Very nice navbox. Good idea. :) I'd be happy to turn those navbox redlinks blue. The thing is, maybe we should consider some sort of convention for these lists that give more information, so that it is not so much like a category with a few images. I like tables. Although they are ugly, the sortability allows visitors to see which were built first, and which are the tallest, etc. This has a lot of value. It is the convention at windmill lists and many others. So, what do you think? If you like the idea, I'd be happy, not only to start all the navbox redlinks, I'd even dig up any commons images. This would encourage article creation. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
A sample I just started: List of lighthouses and lightvessels in Finland. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:19, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
Now that's a great idea. While you're working on the Finnish list I think I'm going to turn the older bullet lists into some nice tables. On that occasion we need to decide though what to with the lots of redlinks that will certainly inhabit those lists. I suggest we leave them included as long as we can find an image to complement the table entry. De728631 (talk) 20:07, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, De728631. Splendid. We can really revamp the whole Europe lighthouse thing. So, what about a convention for the tables? How would you improve List of lighthouses and lightvessels in Finland? If we can get that perfect, then we can make all the others the same. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:03, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm thinking we could remove the Lighthouse/lightvessels column. There are few vessels. We can add that to notes, and people can see in the image anyhow. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:05, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
How about this: In List of lighthouses and lightvessels in Germany, we have lots of small tables. That makes extra creation work. Plus, it means the sortability is gone. A visitor cannot find the oldest in all of Germany. Maybe we could have column "Region" and beside it, column "Location". Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:08, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
Here is another sample. Too much location breakdown? User:Anna Frodesiak/Pink sandbox Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:16, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Let's continue the discussion here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lighthouses#Revamp of European lighthouses to include others. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:24, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Email

Hi. I, too, got a bounce when attempting to email you via this. The headers contained an error and a link to a page at your mail site that described the reason as having detected copyvio or spam in the message. My message had only one non-wikipedia link in it, and it does not trip any of my AV warnings. Looks like their spam filter is a bit too sensitive. Perhaps you can whitelist anything with "wikipedia" in it?

I've forwarded it back to you again directly instead of through WP, in the hopes that it will let it through when it sees the original fail headers. It apparently did not bounce. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 08:46, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi, AlanM1. Thanks for letting me know that this problem remains.
Okay. That's it for that stupid email company. I couldn't whitelist anything, and my trash bin empties whenever it likes, which is every seven seconds.
I now have a new email account at a new, hopefully less stupid company.

Making left sidebar smaller

In answer to your question: You can do it with Stylish, should be just one or a few lines of CSS. Also, if you're using Vector as your skin (the current default), you can use your Wikiedia settings to change it back to Mono which should be smaller. Regards, Samsara (FA  FP) 09:38, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you, Samsara. I am very grateful. I just tried a script that another user suggest, but it hasn't worked out so far. I'll definitely look into your link. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:36, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Oh.. about Jar-Jar... alright. I want to know, how do I leave sources on the pages? 22:11, 24 August 2014 User:138.229.150.27

I am glad you asked. Finding and adding sourced content is a great in into becoming a Wikipedian.
So, google a bunch of words that may dig up a reliable media piece. Maybe search different combinations of words like Jar Jar Binks fan growing following recent etc. Try google news too.
Maybe you will find it, maybe not. Maybe one source, if it is weak, will not be enough. Give it a try.
References go like this:
Rabbits are cute.<ref>http://www.about-rabbits.com</ref>
It sure it nice when you add content with a good source. It is like nailing something to a wall instead of using cheap glue. What you wrote can still be there 20 years later.
If there is anything you ever need or have any questions, please ask. Best wishes, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:58, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Hmmmm, a table with the images would be too ugly, right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:30, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
That would be preferable to what we have now. The three column format makes my head spin. If and when you have time, could you perform some "Anna Frodesiak" table magick on it? Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 21:33, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Deleting of my User page

hello Sir, Why are you deleting my User page ? I am a photographer and i want to spread Tarun Arora Photography on wikipedia. please don't delete my page.

ok as you wish. thankyou for instructing me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarun Arora Photography (talkcontribs) 16:57, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

As I wish or as you wish? You just proceeded to make User:The Tarun Arora Photography. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:19, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

WHYYYYYY?

Why did you block User:IBCPirates? That was useless! Now, how am I going to get into that account if it's blocked? What if the person was going to give me the password eventually on Scratch? So I can never use IBCPirates again? WHY? /:-( --CaptainElizabethSwann (talk) 19:04, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

If your account was being used by someone other than you, it was likely blocked for security reasons. If you do regain control over the account, it can always be unblocked. A CheckUser can determine the difference between the original account holder and someone impersonating that individual. Dusti*Let's talk!* 19:14, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Dusti. :) Yes, CaptainElizabethSwann, as a compromised account, I thought it best. Please don't be upset. "...Accounts that appear to have been compromised may be blocked without warning; administrators will generally not unblock such accounts without evidence that their rightful owners solely control them..." I did it to protect you. I thought you'd be pleased that the hijacker would be unable to do horrible things with your account. If you regain control of the account, it can always be unblocked. I regret

I still regret that why I tried to help you. I was such a bone headed moron that I tried helping you and haven't understood that it will cause trouble to others (including you). Honestly, it was a bad use of mass message and am still ashamed of that. It is likely that, all those who were aware of that incident will never except me as an experienced one. I know time is a great healer but invoking my past in your comments is something that hurts me and points me my mistake again and again. I admit that it was all my fault and I apologize for that. But please try to understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks, Jim Carter (from public cyber) 19:35, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I assume you are talking about ...shot down because an inexperienced user doesn't know what.....(and my response)....An inexperienced user, yes.... ? I guess I could have said "...Yes, that user..." I am sorry you feel hurt. I am sure further experience, and time, will help to reduce the number of your edits that involve you in matters that you ought to stay away from. I have seen a pattern of 'action-oops-backpedal-bury', where better may be 'observe-learn-don't act'. You are doing much better. Please, just keep heading in that direction. Hi Anna, I left a message for you but not sure if you received it. A cupcake for you!

Thank you for handling that. I was just about to shoot you an email when I saw you had already taken care of it. Ishdarian 07:40, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. :) Well, I tried. It was User:Bongwarrior who wisely stopped the rampage. The poor thing. She must feel dreadful. I was hoping to direct her fury toward editing, but it didn't work out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:48, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
I was refering just to the supression. She's asking for someone to unblock her on her talk page. I was thinking about dropping her a line to offer some advice, but I don't think she'd be too receptive to someone of my ilk. Ishdarian 07:51, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Ah, the supression. Yes, I jumped on that instantly, of course. I'm working on the unblock situation now. I'm not sure how that will work out. Oh, and if you ever need a super-emergency redact/suppression, IRC may be helpful. the en-wikipedia channel has many people, and you can almost always get an admin into a PM and let them know for quick action. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:01, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Got it. I've only used IRC once or twice, so it doesn't automatically come to mind as a method of contacting folks. Thanks for the tip. :) Ishdarian 08:04, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

From Midwych

I certainly accept that you could describe someone as a Scottish politician. However, a person's nationality is usually used to describe the relationship between that person and the nation state to which they belong. I agree that when it comes to the United Kingdom this can be open to interpretation. However, since the UK is a nation state and Scotland is not (currently) and citizens of the UK are described as British it would be most correct to describe Scottish, Welsh, English and Northern Irish people as British Nationals. I understand that this may be contentious and would not have an issue with someone being described as a Scottish politician or Welsh singer, English actor etc.

I need your help

Dear @Anna Frodesiak:

I am at the point of leaving Wikipedia all together even though my knowledge is critical at this time for quickly developing Arabic articles, and my well sourced "Article" edit history has a shining record of my worth. You informed me that "From this moment on, if you are done wrong by, then nobody has to dig into a long history with lots of text to figure out who is right. Light will clearly shine, and the culprits will be exposed."

I am being done wrong on a daily basis by a (very) small number of people. To make this short, the flagrantly "biased" Rfc at [24] was concocted via private emails that were not discussing only personal matters... and is now used as a pretext to shame me, mob lynch me and hound me mercilessly with unfounded and largely exaggerated accusations, and purposeful additions of bogus stuff unrelated to the "single same dispute of the Rfc" every time I make a "well sourced" edit while Technophant's flagrant violations of policy are shamelessly overlooked. On the Rfc which must deal with one same single dispute, I have already asked for an objective, knowledgeable, uninvolved and unbiased admin, and no one has responded yet.

Technophant and email pal keep going back to their favorite admin. So, I will ask you to take a look at the Rfc, (including the Rfc Talk page), and help me get Technophant and his (very) few pals off my back once for all... Otherwise, and if I cannot make this clear to them, I am just going to leave Wikipedia for good. This is now not worth it. The daily badgering is affecting my quality of life. The way I feel right now, I wish I never prayed for that man when he pleaded on his talk page for someone to pray for him. Worldedixor (talk) 04:47, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Don't leave. Let's work the problem. I will see what I can do. But first, to help me, please give me every diff and link you can so that I don't have to go digging. Please start with "...From this moment on..." to refresh my memory. Also, any (permitted) evidence to support allegations of inappropriate off-wiki activity would be good too. (Please do not post private email content.) Thank you kindly. 05:14, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
I have a mountain of evidence if you ever need it all. However, simply reading the RFC [25], an objective, knowledgeable, uninvolved and unbiased admin like you will be able to see clearly what is going on, and most likely dismiss the Rfc in its entirety, due to contamination of the editors pool by Technophant's vindictively violating canvassing guidelines, which destroyed the "objectivity" of the process and made it biased against me. I have not posted private e-mails. I do not violate policy. I posted "admissible" evidence (that can be verified on WP) that gives reasonable cause to investigate thoroughly and escalate the email matter between one editor, one reviewer and one admin, if there's a will to catch the culprits. However, the email matter is one of many violations committed in the process. In the Rfc, I presented sufficient evidence with diff to make it easier. By the way, I initially was referring to your much appreciated and welcome communication at [26]. Worldedixor (talk) 05:22, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
I will reserve my comments for now. Please be a bit patient. The power is probably about to go off again here. We are in the eye of Typhoon Kalmaegi (2014)‎ and things are starting to get nasty again. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:48, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
I understand. Please be safe. Worldedixor (talk) 05:56, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Worldedixor. Dear, oh dear. You are asking me to familiarize myself with all of this by digging through tens of thousands of words in dozens of talk posts and at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Worldedixor looking for wrongdoing by others that you have not clearly described here. I am sorry. I cannot involve myself in this. If you wish to provide some evidence that there has been off-wiki collusion using emails, please do. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:12, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Anna, before I leave for good, I will respond to your request with what I have already prepared. I have legitimate and reasonable cause to believe that there is indeed a conspiracy, in spite of what P123ct1 keeps asserting, and that this Rfc has been concocted via emails by P123ct1, Technophant and an admin.
Now, although it has been almost impossible for me to expose the content of this email scandal, I now have verifiable evidence that on one or more occasions P123ct1 and Technophant did have an email that was not of personal nature but rather an urgent email regarding Wikipedia and this Rfc in particular.
P123ct1, in their certified response (see their certified response on Rfc if you want to verify), they asserted that "The emails between Technophant and I are strictly of a personal nature", however their edits [27] (Clearly titled Rfc) and here [28] (to try and hide the incriminating evidence) shows differently. Worldedixor (talk) 17:26, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Worldedixor, I think you're reading too much in that post (later removed). First, it was written after the RfC began. Second, there's nothing wrong with two editors e-mailing each other about something happening on-wiki. It may seem distasteful to you, but it doesn't mean there's a conspiracy or any malice in it. For example, let's say you're going to nominate someone to become an administrator. You and the future candidate might discussion various issues related to the nomination statement, etc., by e-mail. Nothing wrong with that.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:39, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Worldedixor . I've been pouring through your talk posts. You have raised lots of concerns and issues here, so permit me to respond in point form:
  1. Do not leave, unless you really want to. It is not necessary.
  2. I see no conspiracy.
  3. If a handful of editors all disagreed with me at once, I would first and foremost assume that I was wrong. I would not assume that a conspiracy was taking place. Why? Because there is usually no motive. Because groups usually know better than individuals. Because we are usually biased in favour of ourselves and it takes strength to recognize that.
  4. Your use of bold, ALL CAPS, and adjectives about edits and editors heats things up.
  5. You sometimes seem to take offense at the posts of others. I think you are incorrectly interpreting their intentions.
  6. Shed 4 and 5 and you suddenly become a great editor.
  7. I cannot find any clear policy on off-wiki collusion. Common sense says: Don't exclude others from discussions in any way that would be unfair to them. Feel free to email others to point out embarrassing typos or other such benign matters.
  8. The links you provide about "urgent emails" are not evidence of any wrongdoing.
  9. Plenty, plenty of your discussions at talk pages are constructive and productive, and many agree with you.
  10. When you have one view, and 4 others have another, and that's the way the article goes, let it go. It doesn't mean there is a conspiracy.
  11. I see in your edits, sometimes, the jumping to conclusions that others are not assuming good faith, and have bad intentions. That, in itself, may constitute not assuming good faith.
  12. If you want to accuse others, back it up with evidence.
  13. Avoid cheap shots, like "their favorite admin" and "vindictively violating".
My suggestion: Get back to work with a fresh state of mind or walk away from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and other hot articles. But, do not leave Wikipedia. Just edit elsewhere. Don't worry about that article. It will find its way. There are millions of articles to which you can contribute. Like I've said many times, Wikipedia is a world. If you don't like people in your neighbourhood, just move to a different area. You do not need to leave the planet. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:13, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Repair kit may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Anna's world

Hi Anna Frodesiak: Have you ever nominated/co-nominated anyone for Wikipedia adminship? I'm presently considering the matter of running again after User:Stalwart111 has suggested that I give it another try (see "The final straw..." section on my talk page). Stalwart111 has posited the notion of using a co-nominator, and since you're someone I have actually worked with on many articles (e.g. User:Northamerica1000/Article collaboration), you came into mind. Anyway, this is just an initial query, no rush, and it's all just under consideration at this time. Feel free to post any comments on my talk page in the aforementioned section, if you're interested in doing so. NorthAmerica1000 11:18, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Northamerica1000. Yes, I recently co-nominated Philg88. I just read the thread you linked me to, and your first RfA. I had completely missed that RfA. I never knew, and am quite surprised to see the results. So, my main thoughts on RfA2: Obviously, the decision to run should be based on the chance of success. I have never seen an RfA2 be successful when such an RfA1 exists. Old objectors come out of the woodwork. Also, I cannot find your AfD figures. (Am I missing something?) I also do not know why you want to be an admin. There is no glamour or prestige, and it can be tedious. To help with what you already do, other admins are there. You are basically a highly valued content-producing machine. What could be more rewarding? Why distract yourself from that? Finally, so many who attempt and fail shortly thereafter leave the project. You are a great contributor, and that is not something I want to see caused by anything. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:09, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
AfD stats continues to have problems at this time; it's not providing comprehensive listings after several various tries using different parameters. Regarding RfA, a significant part of the work I perform on Wikipedia is in areas of deletion, particularly in closing AfD discussions. I'm always skimming past those with clear and strong consensuses for deletion because I can't delete articles. I am also skilled and knowledgeable in all areas of deletion, with significant experience in speedy deletion nominations. I have the skills, ability and knowledge to use the tools properly and with absolute precision, and upon yet another user suggesting to consider an RfA on my talk page, that's where it's at, in the "consideration" period. I could potentially fair well in a second RfA; the first one was almost two years ago, and I've significantly progressed, along with becoming significantly more involved in deletion aspects compared to that time.
I still welcome your commentary at the "The final straw..." discussion occurring on my talk page, at the very least so others can appreciate your point-of-view. NorthAmerica1000 08:13, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Good points. I think getting your AfD stats visible is essential. Maybe you could even dig up your speedy tagging redlinks to show that they are all still red. I could help you with that. Two big things that people care about: How is the manner of the candidate? Is he going to delete stuff that shouldn't be deleted? I have always found you to be wonderful in the first respect. As for the second, I don't know. No figures. :)
I responded at your user talk about a possible subpage. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:11, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Out of curiousity I took a look specifically at the nominations (I usually get better results ticking that box :P) and this is what I got (remember, just for noms)
Number of AfD's where vote matched result (green cells): 110 (71.0%)
Number of AfD's where vote didn't match result (red cells): 42 (27.1%)
Number of AfD's where result was "No Consensus" (yellow cells): 3 (1.9%)
Not too awful, I must say. :) Dusti*Let's talk!* 01:43, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Not too bad at all. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:20, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
(ping) User:Dusti Thanks to you both. Some AfD nominations result in redirects, and I'm also not shy about withdrawing nominations, for example, when reliable sources are presented in discussions that qualify topic notability. There's little point in running for an RfA until the AfD stats provides accurate results as it used to.
Regarding my CSD nominations, the documentation of them has already been done. See User:Northamerica1000/CSD log. Be sure to view the archive pages too, (archive links are listed in the archive box atop therein). Also, be sure to peruse my Discussion closures log, Prod log and XfD log. Table-ization request

Pasta alla Norma

Hi Anna: Firstly, I'll respond to your reply in the thread above a little later. For now, per your abilities to quickly format tables, requesting conversion to table format the brand new List of pasta dishes that I just created, if you're interested in doing so. The requested column headers are: Name, Image, Origin and Description. I think this article will look great organized with the table format. Thanks for your consideration! NorthAmerica1000 03:39, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, NorthAmerica. Done. I hope you don't mind, but I added the lead images from all the articles that had images. I have a fast trick for grabbing them, so I just went ahead and did it. If you want them removed so that you can pick your own ones, please say. All the best! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:18, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks very much, it looks great. So, what's the trick to quickly fetch images from articles? Some sort of a script? NorthAmerica1000 06:37, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
You're welcome. The trick? Trade secret. Sorry. If I told you, I'd have to boil you until al dente, throw a strand of you at the wall, and then smother you in some sort of tomato preparation. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:21, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Ha ha, so you just quickly copy and paste, then, right? NorthAmerica1000 07:57, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Basically, yes. I open tons of articles in a new tab each, then have the article items double spaced in a notepad in "always on top" mode. Then I drag and drop the image into the empty line spaces between the items and ctrl-pgdn to move to next tab. This way allows me to add around 15 images per minute. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:19, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, drag and drop. I will definitely keep this type of procedure in mind when creating new lists, and thanks for the revelation of your trade secrets! NorthAmerica1000 08:52, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Spaghetti with meatballs
  • List of pasta dishes: updated and basically completed. There are probably other pasta dish articles around that can be added to it. Thanks for your help in providing the table conversion! NorthAmerica1000 08:27, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Ciceri e Tria

Having difficulties finding an image for the new Ciceri e Tria article I created today. Perhaps you may have better luck? NorthAmerica1000 10:51, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

I looked and found nothing. And, with no flickr available, I have no hope of finding it. So sorry. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:57, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for giving it a try: I've nominated it for DYK, so it's nice to have an image to accompany those. Them's the breaks. NorthAmerica1000 02:04, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
