Jiangxi University of TCM

Hello Anna. I'm pretty sure that the website listed is legitimately the school library's website (always thought it was strange that the schools in China didn't all adopt the .edu suffix). But I think our old friend with the dubious cloned sites is back to his old tricks again. Apparently 'Education experts' is his new moniker. Thanks for keeping things in check. Compendium wmc (talk) 15:07, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello. Long time.
Library is likely official, understood.
Yes, same bestcollegeschina links. Same alternative official site. Same insistence on adding them i.e. personal interest in the organization. Probably same person. I will keep an eye out. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:31, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you kindly, and duly noted. I also noticed the article he submitted for "Mbbs in China", and it is pretty similar to English Medium Medical Schools which has been around since 2010 (I don't understand why one user moved that page, because now that "China" is missing from its title, it sounds a little less relevant). As always, thanks for the hard work. Compendium wmc (talk) 15:40, 15 May 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Compendium wmc (talkcontribs)

Some Wikilove

I'm worry you're leaving the MMA space, but perhaps a short wiki-break or holiday will help you get re-focused. I intend to take one myself just as soon as the administrators grow some "scruples" to drain the swamp of it's problems. Granted I think that the only way we'll get such an action is in response to the next step in conduct dispute resolution, Arbitration Committee. I hesitate to use it as nobody ever wins at ArbCom. Hasteur (talk) 01:40, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the hummus and the kind words. :) My break is from MMA and is hopefully permanent. The break will consist of working elsewhere at Wikipedia, like making lovely species or pie articles. Aaahhhhh, no nice. :) Also, I'm building a wormhole device. At the moment things go to dispute resolution or Arbitration Committee, I will push the button, and be safely delivered about 200 billion years from now to the other side of the universe. But, my thoughts will be with you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:14, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Userpage

Hi Anna, Hope you don't mind, but I am pinching your userpage idea, except instead of a cafe, mine is a space ship, based on File:STSCPanel.jpg. It's not nearly as good as yours, but that's because you are a better drawer than I am I suppose...Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:19, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Of course I don't mind. That's a cool idea. Makes me thing that a homemade image or public domain control panel image could be a good menu. Good luck. Tip: When using http://toolserver.org/~dapete/ImageMapEdit/ImageMapEdit.html, don't forget left click to define top left then right click to define bottom right. Easy. User:Kelapstick/Lego tires, what do you think? I think it has legs, just needs some expansion for DYK. I think it would look quite sharp with the lego tire in the hook. --kelapstick(bainuu) 06:13, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Could it be a section within Lego? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:15, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Possibly, although Lego is a pretty big article, I would like to expand the history section, just having trouble sourcing it.--kelapstick(bainuu) 06:24, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Good plan. If you can expand it enough, great DYK hook material. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:26, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Found a source dedicated to the tire and it's history, muhahaha.--kelapstick(bainuu) 06:27, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

OK, I think I have taken it to the limit. Can you have a proofread for me? I am horrible at that sort of thing. If you can't, I will get Drmies to have a look in the morning (his morning), he is always up for something like that. Also, I can't decide on another picture from commons:Category:LEGO vehicles. --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:20, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

And by the way, it's been moved to Lego tires. --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:22, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Lovely!!! Exactly the kind of article I like. :) Now, DYK hook? "...largest manufacturer of tires..."??? You could really mess with their mind. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:48, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

If I can run it with Chrome and the GFWC kicking up a fuss, then you can manage. So what's the plan? Are you going to easter egg your contribs, DYKs etc in there? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:40, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the barn star nomination

Many thanks for the nomination for the barn star - I would like to go further on this, but am not sure how one can make claim for a barn star - again, thank you for the nomination. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 21:12, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean by "nomination". The barnstar I gave you is the award itself. That's all there is to it. No nomination. Just "Here you go. Have a barnstar." You now have two. You can paste them to your userpage if you like.  :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:23, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for that, and I think I have pasted it now. Can I just request that User:Northamerica1000 also gets a barn star, as that user did a lot of work editing List of pastries? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 08:32, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Certainly, my friend. You can award him the barnstar yourself. He will be very happy. Go here to select one: Wikipedia:Barnstars#General Barnstars and pick one to give to Northamerica.
Then, simply paste the star onto his talk page with a comment that you write, like this example:

{{subst:The Original Barnstar|Because you are awesome, I hereby present to you this dazzling barnstar. ~~~~}}

Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:38, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

I see you are having a bit of trouble pasting the star I gave you onto your userpage. Go to your talk page, click edit, and copy paste the whole thing onto your userpage. :) Let me know if you need help. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:39, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Fish

Should it be fishes, or fish, or fishies? --kelapstick(bainuu) 08:38, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Most scientists use the proper "fishies" or "ooooh fishies". They take their work every seriously. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:41, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
That's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification. Hope you had a good Victoria Day. --kelapstick(bainuu) 08:43, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome. And it's pronounced "ooooh Victoria Day!" :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:54, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
List of fishes in Canada: no salmons in Canada? --Chris.urs-o (talk) 13:02, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I like to take it slow with some list articles. I'm not quite sure about the whole structure. Do you have suggestions? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:07, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
You are more experienced, I assume. Looking at commons:Category:Fish in Gulf of Mexico, you'll have c. 300 entries in the end. I prefer text lists when they're long, as list of minerals U–Z (complete) and list of largest volcanic eruptions. Leaving Commons/ Wikimedia for image collections. But I like your idea at list of continental shelves. Cheers --Chris.urs-o (talk) 13:36, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, the whole contents of a category doesn't have to be in the article. The scope of the fishes list could be more limited. I would like the list to serve the non-scientific community -- just people trying to get an idea of what's abundant in the water. So, maybe limiting scope to sport fish or predominant fish or something. I don't know.
I might have wasted my time with the List of continental shelves: [1] I searched forever for shelves. No category. No collection of items. But then I found List of submarine topographical features. Oh, well, maybe it can become a section. I hope it ends up being useful somewhere. Maybe "shelf" has a synonym I don't know about. Then there's ice shelves. I don't know about those, but I imagine the article would slowly melt away. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:50, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't really know, but list of submarine topographical features isn't good enough. You can make three lists, for instance: list of submarine topographical features (continental shelves), list of submarine topographical features (plains and basins), list of submarine topographical features (trenches, ridges and plateaus). Don't delete too fast continental shelves. Cheers --Chris.urs-o (talk) 14:32, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Of all the gin joints in the world...

Imagine my suprise in bumping into you at Michael McGlaughlin. I raised a question regarding notability on the talk page, added some obvious categories, and added the english footy stub template, but in general this looks like a "decent" article. Hasteur (talk) 14:04, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Ah, nice bumping into you again too. :) Well, I called it non-notable at IRC per Wikipedia:NFOOTY. Another helper dug and found that he'd "actively participated in a major international amateur or professional competition at the highest level" and added that to the article. I agreed and moved it to the main. I know less about football than MMA. :) I'll let this one go as it may.
If you think the footballer article is a headscratcher, per IRC request, I just moved Notahelix --> DNA helix, with the author preferring DNA helix?, and then someone moved it to Non-helical DNA structure. I have no idea what to make of that one. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:18, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Although it wasn't RfC, I still asked two things: Is any copy paste? Is all sourced and none essayish? I predict the folks at Project Genetics will have some interesting commentary. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:23, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Query

Do you use Twinkle? It doesn't look like it. I just found out that you can put custom welcome templates into it, I just put in the template I pinched from you. Also I still recommend doing the trick with the image mapper through commons rather than through the toolserver link (I think it is easier, and remember you were supposed to always listen to me?) Although I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it, whatever works for you. --kelapstick(bainuu) 05:01, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

I do not use twinkle. I think last time I tried it the GFWC blocked it. I have no idea what this whole .js thing is. Sometimes I'm asked to paste something into a subpage. I don't know why, and don't want to.
Love your userpage. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:06, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, just go with what works for you I guess, I did have an issue with a link when mapping it through Chrome, so I switched back to FireFox, and it worked fine, it seems hit and miss if it will work for me on Chrome. I don't know if I have ever twinkled from that side of the wall, I am usually knocked out after a 12 hour flight, and on the move the next morning, so don't have much WP time while I am there. I will have to try next time I am there, hopefully this summer. --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:10, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

new article about the electric car 'Colibri'

Hello Anna,

last week I asked you via the mirc chat whether it was ok if I created an article about the electric car our company is currently developing. You said it was ok if we were able to back up the relevance of it by a sufficient number of sources. I gathered some and came up with 8 references from 7 different sources, excluding the company itself. 6 of the 7 sources are german language press publications, while the seventh is in Spanish. Would that suffice to justify a short article? Here are the links, if you would like to take a look:

If the sources are not enough, we are also receiving considerable backing (financial and otherwise) from, among others, the german federal ministry of education and research and have won several presigous competitions on the federal level. The current development stage is that of prototype construction.

Thanks in advance for your help and your time, it is much appreciated

best

Hi Robert,
These are the only refs which satisfy WP:GNG:
Your own website can be used. The others listed here are either blogs, or don't mention the topic. So, that means 5 refs. Hmmmmm. I posted here to see what others say because I don't know how the community views notability of cars. We shall see. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:03, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Dog meat

I've removed the quote about "Three Beasts" from the dog meat section as I can find no writing to match the comment of 'three beasts', I can however find sources for 6 choices of Meat (including dog) which the Emperor had for banquets and I can also find sources of other bred animals for food, beyond 'three'. Pig, chicken, cow, ox... etc, I do not see 'dog' being bred for meat as a staple. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:32, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

List of cakes

As some one who has contributed extremely to the food-related articles in Wikipedia, I thought I would let you know my concern about that article List of cakes - it does not include doughnuts! Could something be done about this? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:44, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Hmmmmmm, good question. Is it bread? Is it cake? Is it pastry? Can we have overlap in these articles? These are the deep questions of life. It's obvious what we must do. We must buy a wide array of these products and eat them. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:02, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Recycling in China

I have deleted the section about "Recycling in China" in the recycling article due to concerns expressed on the talk page and my own concerns. It painted a completely incorrect picture, it was unreferenced, and created a geographical bias. There is a definite need for a Recycling in China article given that it is the most populous country but the topic will need a far greater treatment than what was put in the recycling article. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 01:28, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Alan. That's okay. I can see how it gives undue weight to one country. Yes, it ought to be moved to Recycling in China with some balancing content. I only added facts that were positive because I am here, and don't want to write negative things in the mainspace. As for sourcing, well, I avoid sites from certain countries due to the frequency malicious content warnings from my software. But, the facts I included were pretty tame, and not controversial: slop wagons and metal extraction from demolition sites, etc. If you're interested in stubbing Recycling in China, I will paste the deleted content there, and hopefully others will expand it. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

I didn't create it, just improved. At Wikipedia we do things right, no matter how trivial the subject may be :) Although with several accounts having articles, I don't see how a list of them could possibly be AfD'd. I may have a quick trip to Portugal (or London, not sure) in the near future. I will keep you posted. --kelapstick(bainuu) 03:29, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Yay! I'll get the salt! :) :) :) Everyone here loves Lady Gagger because she's new! Idiots! I give them some Beatles etc. They listen to it and like it. Then I tell them how old it is and they stop liking it. In China, new is good, period. There are signs that the world is ending, and people preferring Lady Gaga over the Beatles is one of them. Actually, that frog is okay. FYI, I posted Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles#Amphibians of Madagascar asking for advice. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:00, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay! I'll write an article on anything. By the way, these are the genus' to watch out for! Wakea, Spinomantis, Guibemantis, Gephyromantis, Boehmantis and Blommersia are all Mantidactylus. --Thine Antique Pen (talkcontributions) 12:03, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. I was just at that genus page and saw three stupid commons image boxes. You know what the problem is? I blame the frogs. In the lab, when they're testing their DNA, they keep hopping around and getting mixed up. They annoy the scientists. The scientist whip out the mallets. Wham! Right onto the critical list. No wonder they're endangered. Do we see this problem with cows? No. Why? Cows don't hop. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:12, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
LOL. --Thine Antique Pen (talkcontributions) 12:20, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
We don't see the same problem with kangaroos either, though. Maybe it's just that the scientists don't have mallets that big, but I think at one point the army did try using machine-guns on them. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 13:17, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I've just slapped a uw-4im warning on User:Education experts for spam, but seeing your repeated and unbelievably patient attempts to reason with him, felt you deserved recognition for your efforts. Thank you for being far, far too nice! Yunshui  07:16, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you kindly. I've learned, though, that next time I should be a bit more curt and spend less time trying to persuade. Many thanks too for the uw-4im. Let's hope that's the end of this. Best wishes, my friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:24, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

This end, things are good. Lovely weather. Lots of baby hamsters. Gardening. Might go sailing tomorrow. Life is dandy. And you? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:51, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, well even the minority needs a voice. I a philanthropic in that regard. Sadly even Tony left my side. For shame. We are battening down the hatches as aparently Perth is having the storm of the decade, lots of rain, 125km/h winds, etc. Had to drive from Meekathara again yesterday. But all is well, trying to get to either Mongolia or Portugal, not sure which, but it is looking like Mongolia. Maybe I will get there by August. I will let you know when I am in Beijing, we can drink tea at the same time, in different cities, that will be nice. Wont it? :) --kelapstick(bainuu) 10:58, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Booker's Place, A Mississippi Story - cover.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Booker's Place, A Mississippi Story - cover.jpeg, which you've sourced to (Book Cover). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or

You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

Diatoms

I don't know whether you fancy a foray into Diatoms ? I have been in disagreement with User:Bhaskarmv about his contributions which all seem to be about selling his product, although more recent edits avoid mentioning it directly. Edits occur in Fish kill, Algal bloom, Eutrophication etc. His user page is a blatant advert and the sources he is using demonstrate that there are diatoms (well yes, I did think that there were!) but not a lot else. I know that if I go down the path of template warnings it can only end in tears. Any guidance, help, suggestions welcomed. Thanks  Velella  Velella Talk   22:27, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I cannot access the user's blogspot or linkedin sites. He's been made aware of WP:COI, so even if he's here to promote a theory or a company, the main focus is exactly what you pointed out: the need for third-party peer-reviewed sources.
I just watchlisted everything related. I see you're pretty much alone trying to handle this, so you should consider posting somewhere to get expert attention. Myself, I know nothing about diatoms aside from them being great desktop wallpaper images. I'll keep an eye on things and help if I can. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:00, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

BrightStarSky

Hi Anna, I see that you have had dealings with User:BrightStarSky. I have just found another copy/paste from a news source, and it is not the first. I am becoming concerned that there may be a real problem here, given the blithe "won't do it again"/does it again cycle. Have you looked into their contributions in any depth? - Sitush (talk) 13:14, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sitush. Just just posted with a warning. I totally agree. The one you reverted was blatant, and this problem is persistent. I dug into his contribs up to the last post I made at his talk. I will dig some more. Anything prior to this last one, I will revert. Anything after the warning would be the last straw, and should result in a block. Thanks for keeping an eye on it. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:35, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
I thought that you might have done a review. Some people are so conscientious. And they are nice to know! I'll try to keep an eye on things. - Sitush (talk) 13:37, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Cheers. Anything after 14 May 2012 I'm not sure about. When I find copyvios I tend to go through all the edits and zap them quickly and stop the editor fast. That way more don't get buried. Thanks for catching list latest one. I'm curious what BrightStarSky will have to say about it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:41, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Post-mortem

Actually, I don't have too much to say. Student reaction was mixed-to-positive this semester, and it seems clear that all the structure-providing strategies worked pretty well. Students most often felt, however, that they received little feedback and had little contact with the Wikipedia world. Some claim they will continue editing; many claim that they will go to Wikipedia for information in future (about which I feel a bit ambivalent, giving their disdain of libraries...). In any event, I will not be returning to the job in the fall, and I don't see at present any likelihood of the project being carried on by others. But it was an interesting experiment, and students who put their back into it had positive learning outcomes... Njnu-ban-xueshenghao (talk) 19:56, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

which sounds unnecessarily ambivalent! Many thanks for all your selfless assistance!

Njnu-ban-xueshenghao (talk) 19:59, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

That sounds pretty good. Perhaps we were a bit overly absent this time, but the outcome was good. Anyway, we all saw the chaos from too much presence.
Disdain for libraries is natural. This is 2012. Wikipedia, baby! :)
I wouldn't call my assistance selfless. I'm part of the BORG, and we're selfishly greedy for product, which is what we got. Cost-benefit wise, it was a good deal, I think. I hope on your end it was worth it. And I hope for the students it was valuable. I hope they continue to edit. Who knows, Wikipedia is pretty addictive. Trouble is, it's not, for some reason, contagious. Odd. Now, if we can just nuke that darn Baidu Baike, all will be well. That whole operation is competition, unsourced 狗屁听说, and pure copyvio. When the world's commerce or government is all under one name, that's very bad. But when all information is linked, that's good, I think. I wish Wikipedia would catch on more in China.
Best wishes, and we all hope to see you back editing from time to time. Good luck with your next gig, and thank you again for agreeing to this second season. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:19, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Oshawa logo 01.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Oshawa logo 01.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:19, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Help request

Transferring comment from Jkidner mistakenly posted to user page

Hi are you available to help me please. I am struggling to get the text into the pink boxes. Why are they pink? Are they for quotations? I am struggling a little with the references and how to link them with the references at the bottom. I am using the coding but it doesn't seem to work. Sorry to be a pain but I have never done this before,

Hello and welcome Jkidner, and thanks wctaiwan. I am not sure what pink boxes you are referring to. Could you please give me a few more details? Is it happening here: User:Jkidner/sandbox?
And you're not being a pain at all. Editing Wikipedia can be very confusing when you first start. I am here to help.
References go like this:
Rabbits are cute.<ref>http://www.about-rabbits.com</ref>
They eat carrots.<ref>http://www.rabbit-diet-info.org</ref>
Paste this at the bottom of the article:
==References==
{{reflist}}
Click save and all the references will automatically get listed at the bottom. Easy peasy.
(Stalkers: Pls help any time you see fit.) Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:10, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi Anna,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and explaining the references again.
Yes it is in my sandbox and the pink boxes tend to be under the sub-headings like Stripe, Colum, Wave. They don't seem to really serve a purpose withing the content of the text at this point in time. I noticed they have them for the contents etc. Does this make any kind of sense?
Thanks again for your time

Hi Jo. I know now! :) Text must begin by being stuck to the left side of the frame. Any space before the first word will make the pink box. If you want, I can format the page for you. It will only take a sec. Let me know. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:31, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh yes please that would be a relief to say the least! (Jkidner (talk) 10:41, 6 July 2012 (UTC))

Hi Anna,
Thank you so much that looks so much better, I'm not sure I want to change the fluffy bunny images though!!;)(Jkidner (talk) 11:28, 6 July 2012 (UTC))
Jo
You're most welcome, my friend. I noticed a few question marks at the end of sentences, which makes me feel that it's a bit like an essay. Remember, just the facts. Read a similar article about a famous artist to get the feel of how it should best be presented.
You can add the same reference to the end of many sentences. This is good because then if somebody rearranges the content, the references are still attached to the right content.
As for the bunny, I know how you feel. It is a very, very nice bunny. My favourite, actually. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:17, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Anna,

Still having issues I'm afraid. I have tried to follow the instructions to upload an image from my computer files and I am struggling again. I have even watched the video which makes the whole process look really straight forward. The images have been given to me by Flowers gallery in London, they represent Michaels work and are happy for them to be shared on wiki. They are saved as Jpegs. Do I need to save them in a wiki format or something to embed them because I don't quite understand why when I copy the name of the file it only shows up as the file name rather than the image. How do you convert them so wiki will show them please? Thanks for your time again Jo(Jkidner (talk) 12:34, 6 July 2012 (UTC))

Jpeg or jpg should be fine. If you own the images for sure, it should be straightforward. Are you trying to upload them to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard or to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Upload ? If you describe what's going wrong, then maybe I can help. If you're still stuck just come online for instant help at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#wikipedia-en-help. Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

List of Thai dishes red links

I see that you have linked all of the dishes in List of Thai dishes, resulting in a huge amount of red links. I don't think that it is quite necassary to start articles on each and every Thai dish mentioned in that list. For many dishes, the short description provided in that list would seem sufficient. - Takeaway (talk) 05:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Takeaway. :) I added all links for List of hospitals in India after a couple of years of them being black. I realized that the amount of bluelinks had doubled, just sitting there, hidden. So, I figured that maybe a bunch of these Thai dishes have articles that nobody can see. I really don't want to make articles for them. The purpose is to encourage others to do so, to show what does or does not have an article (the scope of our coverage), to reveal blue links that exist now so they can be clicked, and to reveal bluelinks when an article is created. What do you think? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:17, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
All bluelink articles that have been written so far have been incorporated in the Thai cuisine template. If it were up to me, I'd delink the red links, also because, as I mentioned before, there doesn't seem much need for articles on each and everyone of these dishes. As it is now, some bluelink articles hardly give more, if any, additional information than what can be mentioned in the descriptions of the dishes in this list. For me at least, having so many red links just looks ugly and isn't very conducive for reading. - Takeaway (talk) 09:27, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. I guess Thai dish articles are less likely to get created anyhow. Please feel free to revert. Sorry to put you through the trouble. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Okidoki! I'll revert your edits and then enlarge the images again to their present size. - Takeaway (talk) 09:41, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Actually, I don't think I reduced the images. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:20, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
you had the images enlarged to 120px. I set them to 110px now. I checked it with different screen resolutions and this seemed slightly better to me. - Takeaway (talk) 10:24, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

You've spent more time looking over the article than I have, and I hope I'm not lumbering into something you've already thought about, but I do have the sense that the thing is a bit over-detailed given the paucity of third-party coverage, and seems to bear promotional undertones, and wonder what your thoughts might be. I don't want to come crashing in where my views might be plainly in the minority - Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 01:50, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

That's very considerate of you to say. Actually, you are quite right about the article. I approved it because I thought it worthy of being in the mainspace, but suspected that it would be tagged for better refs and toning down. That's almost where it is now, and I have not much else I can offer. Please feel free to take an ax to it. :) Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:19, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. My sense is that the author is - enthusiastic about the subject, and may resist non-trivial revisions. If so then it helps to know that my sense of the thing isn't too far off the mark. JohnInDC (talk) 10:54, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

That's okay. We forgive you. :) I'm actually right now in the middle of formatting your work. See this. A good way to learn is to pick an article for a famous place, like Delhi. That article is sure to be laid out properly. Open two, and click edit in only one. That way you can switch back and for to see how it's all done. You can use that as a model of how to format, etc. Best wishes, and happy editing, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:24, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

About the second drawing...

Hello Anna. Lately, I've been working on a page entitled 'Seabed gouging by ice', and I've noticed you've incorporated a second drawing into it. I hope you won't mind if I took it out. The reason is, that second drawing has a lot in common with the one that was already there (I made both of them). But as I enclose more info in that page, I'll be adding other drawings, including a new version of that second one. Kind regards. --Lusilier (talk) 00:21, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome. :) Absolutely. That's very considerate of you for asking, but unnecessary. Actually, I almost took it out myself right after I added it, and inspected the top-right image. I only left it in case it was an unnoticed image, and so others could have a look and decide.
By the way, did you see the new July 16, 2012 image at Petermann Glacier? Wouldn't it be great to be there with a video camera?
If you ever need anything, please just ask. I'm always around, and love the kind of articles you edit. Best wishes, and thank you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:28, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I see you edited Creep (deformation). Do you think you could help dig up an image at Commons for the article? Panes of glass getting thick at the bottom might be one, but don't know how to track down such an image. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:40, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your help, Anna. Much appreciated (am still a greenhorn with this wiki stuff, but am slowly discovering its amazing potential). Creep deformation is a field I specialize in. So that page is also on my slate for things to do in the future. Thickenned panes of glass, bent lead pipes, glaciers, Pisa tower as well as many other more common features are all examples of creep processes. So much to do, so little time... Cheers. --Lusilier (talk) 15:26, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Help

Hello, I need your help. Please help me to watch the Miss Universe 2012 page, because there is a user insistently add Kim Yu-mee as Korea's representative to Miss Universe 2012, but the fact that Kim Yu-mee is Korea's representative to Miss Universe 2013. The source he put for the Korea's representative in Miss Universe 2012 used Global Beauties news, as Global Beauties is not a reliable site. Please for your help, thanks. Evilness

Hey. Can you update File:Drawing of Cafe Anna basement 01.jpg with a fish pond in the corner with some evil piranha or frickin sharks with laser beams attached to their heads? Maybe the right quarter of the floor with a pool against the wall with some evil aquatic life in it! Also could you put File:BlankMap-World-noborders.png on the back wall in the centre above the chair? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:03, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello,

I am unable to change the name of this article. Williamsburg Areat Transport has changed its name to Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA). That is the only change that needs to occur.

Thank you!

How do I submit photos of the WATA trolley into this article? 04:58, 27 July 2012‎ User_talk:70.169.16.163

I moved the article to the correct name per http://www.williamsburgva.gov/index.aspx?recordid=3122&page=273 and other sites. Their homepage still uses the old name, but I hope it's just because they haven't yet updated it.

Update and query

Update. :) Also did you know someone added a message here? Strange. Viriditas (talk) 00:32, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the DYK update. As for EdweirdsBot: what' the??? It's obviously become self-aware, and that self turns out to be quite mad. I guess I should speedy that page. Thanks again. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:44, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
FYI...some users have a template for advertising their DYK's on the user or talk page. You might want to think about that because it would look really good here. For example, every time someone visits your user or talk page (You decide which...or both) the template reloads a different DYK for visitors to see. You've got a lot of friends who can help you with this if you are interested. I know that User_talk:Lionelt uses it at the top of his page, if you want to see how it works. He uses User:Lionelt/DYKrandom to serve the DYK's. Viriditas (talk) 00:50, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
That's not a bad idea. Trouble is, my talk is kept google-clean. My userpage has only two parts: The pic for fun, and the rest is utilitarian, for me -- resources, and creations to keep an eye on. I just don't know where I'd put it. Also, it's that horrible brown. I prefer the somewhat vomitesque greens and yellows. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:55, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
I know you vehemently disagree, but I'm convinced you use those colors to remind you of home. :) Viriditas (talk) 00:59, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
That's very insightful. Yes, any colour is welcome, and I crave it. Here in China, colour is still not used much aside from product packaging and advertising. This is a leftover from the Mao times, when colour was discouraged. Still today, old people tell me that they're uncomfortable wearing colours. And driving through the city, encountering a building not painted drab, is 1 in 10,000. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:10, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Are you working with anything new in the art department? Drawings? Paintings? Animation? Video? Viriditas (talk) 06:42, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Batty Bot

Indeed! You're # 86 on this page, User:Ocaasi/CREDO (which I just copied from the main Credo pages). No idea why that would deliver to a subpage of your userspace, let alone barnstars. How'd you even find it? Anyway, I'll have to ask MZMcbride what the deal is with EdwardsBot, since I don't know why that would happen. Anyways... sorry, and sorry you missed out on the survey, which is now closed. Do you use/like Credo? How's life? Ocaasi t | c 02:07, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Number 86. I don't remember seeing that list.
  • Viriditas found it. See above thread.
  • Barnstar subpage, yes, strange indeed.
  • No worries about missing out on the survey. I actually found the same thing here.
  • I had trouble finding stuff at Credo. My searches came up zero most of the time.

Musik Lounge

Hi Anna, couple months ago i started an article "Musik Lounge". Today i updated the article with some refereences. Can you please revisit the Musik Lounge article. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 18:29, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello. Housemusictv and Ibiza references are okay. Another is a blog, and the other doesn't mention the subject, so both of those are no good.
The logos is uploaded with the wrong license, and logos like that cannot be used unless the article is in the mainspace. It is liable to be deleted. If that happens, when the article goes into the mainspace, it can be uploaded again.
You need more references for the article to be viable. Please search for them. Try google news and google news archives. Good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:45, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Musik Lounge

Hi Anna, i deleted 2 reference link since you didn't approve them. I also deleted related information and logo from the article. It's very simple and the information is supported with 3rd party references. There is no other reliable source in Google the links are from blogs and social media pages. Can you please aprove this article with the current references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 01:41, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Volkanc. I'm afraid that if there are no other good references to add, the article will not survive in the mainspace. I'm very sorry to say that. The topic must have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Two or three references really isn't enough. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:51, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

This is really frustrating because when i asked for your help 7 months ago, you told me bring references from reliable sources. I can't find references from CNN or Harvard University, the references are mostly from personal artist pages, and Music blogs.

DJ Ortzy

Hi Anna, today i entered a new article for DJ Ortzy. Can you please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 01:49, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

DJ Ortzy faces the same situation: there are not enough references. Please try to find several good media references. Normally, a good clue as to the notability of a subject is what appears on page 1 of a google search. In this case, I see MySpace and YouTube, and not much else. Google news and news archives find nothing at all. It is therefore very unlikely that DJ Ortzy can have an article. Sorry again. :( Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:51, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

So when you google search "DJ Ortzy" the Beatport is the first result where all his information listed. Beatport is most reliable, independent online Music retailer, it's really interesting you don't accept Beatport as a reference. http://www.beatport.com/artist/dj-ortzy/36962 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 21:24, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I get myspace first. Second is beatport, but that site doesn't discuss him at all. It just lists his work. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:37, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

I get Beatport first (https://www.google.com/#hl=en&gs_nf=1&tok=y_xneFJJ7Foa8XLjzZS1Pg&cp=5&gs_id=l&xhr=t&q=dj+ortzy&pf=p&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&oq=dj+or&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=3caf70095441cb5a&biw=1280&bih=666) his work is the most important information and Beatport is the most relaible source in Music business. The 3rd link is coming from another DJ's Souncloud Page (DJ Chuckie) and then you wantickets.com artist profile where is personal information is listed. I just checked Dj Sneak article, how come he only have 1 reference - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Sneak — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 21:56, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

DJ Sneak: Please see: WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS
DJ Ortzy: Regardless of what google finds first, you need several good media references that discuss this subject. Can you find those? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:59, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Happy Sunday

I am enjoying a lovely meal and Tsingtao at the airport in Beijing, hope you had a great weekend. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:11, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

So nice to hear from you. I can guess where you're headed: the land of unsmoked tobacco and cheese made of throat jelly. Have a good flight, but get to the gate early. I've only missed two flights in my life, one from there. It's that darn subway you have to take to the gate, and the checkpoints where everyone has to open their suitcases. They say the definition of eternity is one lawyer waiting for another. I think it's waiting for old Chinese couples to get their luggage organized. They're very sweet, but if you're behind them in line, you want to have a crossword puzzle handy. :) Happy travels. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:23, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh I am just a short walk to my gate, I had to leave security and customs to get my luggage, then wait to recheck it...but I am all clear now. Cafe Sambal is keeping me amused for the time being, but I might have to start taking a walk soon. I might go home the other way, over the continent. Zurich airport was fun, but there is something about countries with 4 official languages not having book stores, and a significant lack of chocolate watches...--kelapstick(bainuu) 11:50, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
There are no such things as book stores and chocolate watches. Book stores petered out in the 70s, and chocolate watches are imaginary, mushroom-induced visions by people who look like Jerry Garcia. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:22, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

BSS

I won't tread on your turf at the BSS talk page but regarding this response, well, OMG! I wouldn't spend too much time attempting to coach: there is a massive comprehension problem, both of policies/guidelines and seemingly of the English language. - Sitush (talk) 05:26, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Please tread! I went through it with the hope of having the editor undo the damage and and proceed to edit constructively, thus saving us time going through buried edits and removing offending copyvios. But, competency issues seem to have been revealed, and the user may not be capabale of doing either. I just found that out in "let me get you started" section. Ya win some, ya lose some. This one looks like a lost cause.
I will give it a day then decide what to do. Please suggest something, or give feedback on the following possible plans:
  • Cut my losses by pasting to his talk: "I'm sorry, but the two examples that you gave show that without the aid of copy paste, you don't seem to be competent enough to rewrite from the sources. However, you still have the right to submit an unblock request. Good luck in all your future endeavours."
  • Strike a deal for the editor to laboriously search and destroy all of his own newsy or copyvio edits. Get admin support for an unblock on those terms. Then, after a week of keeping a close eye and watching him do the work, set him forward on a constructive path that is within the scope of his competency, such as sourcing existing content from a set of agreed-upon sources. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:47, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
The second is what we should do but there is the "not a suicide pact" exception and my gut feeling is that it applies here. We've hit a variant of the MKY saga again: someone who appears to lack competence but has contributed rapidly and frequently. The clean-up is going to be a mess even for experienced users and unless there is some remarkable improvement then I do not see how it can be entrusted to the perp. Your example of sourcing existing content from a set of sources is a useful task but only if they can get over the comprehension issues. It is unfortunate when clear enthusiasm is stymied but we really do have a potential legal problem here.

I'd give it 24 - 48 hours and then withdraw gracefully if there is no progress. - Sitush (talk) 06:11, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

I honestly don't think BSS can be helped to make those sorts of edits (writing sourced content). There are prohibitive issues of judgement and language will probably never be overcome. What sort of contributions do you think are within his scope? This editor made 2,000 labour-intensive contribs in 2 months. Pity to waste that sort of energy. Let's try to work something out. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:14, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Not sure this is quite MKY but I see your point. I think BSS could surgically remove offending contribs and it be a net gain. Future edits could be constructive and only require a few sets of eyes on if they are within competency scope. Let's look to limit our liability and maintenance, while getting the user into something productive. Instead of teaching the editor how to do the difficult task of adding sourced, non-copyvio content, let's prohibit that, and see what he can do that suits him and the community. Lets look for a winning outcome. If we get it right, we could have an editor that contribs 1k good edits a month indefinitely. That's worth trying for. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:20, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I presume that you are considering some sort of wikignoming activity as a way to tap the enthusiasm? (Off to work in a mo, so this is my last for a few hours). - Sitush (talk) 06:24, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Not gnoming, as that is doing this and that, right? I'm taking about an agreed-upon type of editing, like sourcing existing content, or even some punctuation cleanup at India related articles. Something that is straightforward, and where each edit has a high chance of being constructive. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:27, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, punct. cleanup is gnoming in my book I am a little concerned with regard to sourcing extant content because of the language comprehension issue exemplified in the second of your "how would you rephrase this" queries on their talk page.

However, you are more tolerant than me and that is no bad thing. I am happy to go with the flow and I value your attitude. I am having a bit of a rough time in real life at the moment and my ability to contribute has dipped considerably. Nonetheless, I'll try to keep an eye on things as and when. - Sitush (talk) 23:22, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

True, punctuation is wiki-gnoming. And, I think you're right that sourcing may be beyond this editor's capability. What we need is a fail-safe area that BSS will enjoy and continue at. What we don't want is babysitting and mopping up. Any suggestions?
But, this is all in the future. The immediate aim is to see this editor logging the hours of repair work so we don't have to. We don't know that he is capable of this, or will stick with it, but, I think it's worth a shot. I don't want to log the hours on this, and I don't have the heart to dump this on Moonriddengirl's desk. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:38, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
I'll have a think about the fail-safe, and I agree that it would be preferable if they cleaned up their own work if they are up to the task. I guess that there is only one way to find that out but we'll have to keep a close eye on things. - Sitush (talk) 08:51, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

The article International Forum on Globalization has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems to fall short of WP:ORG; gets some google hits but it's all passing mentions & press releases &c - no significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources".

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. bobrayner (talk) 17:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Needs a bit of work, but I pulled the PROD. I've teed up some works which cite the org and its big dang book, and a honkin' Google Scholar search. Just one or two added will be fine, but I'm sorta jammed for time right now. --Lexein (talk) 19:55, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the prod and the unprod. I very much encourage others to look through my starts and prod or afd what shouldn't be part of the project. I didn't even know about GNG for the first year or so. A handful are likely not notable, but some are, and just need expansion. I try to go back and expand stubs I started, but I often get busy with something else, or a new subject catches my eye and I start that. Thanks to both of you.

Tofu and toffee

Hello! Why do you believe that it is unnecessary to write that tofu not to be confused with toffee? Maybe, you know both these foods very well and thus it seems to you that it is difficult to confuse them. But some people do not know about existence of these foods at all, and when someone finds out something about tofu or toffee and wants to extend his or her knowledge about it by means of Wikipedia, it is quite possible that he or she will start to read the article "Toffee" instead of "Tofu" (or "Tofu" instead of "Toffee"). It is quite possible to confuse such unusual words; moreover both items are foods and one may be unaware for a long time that he or she reads something other than wants. I know very well that such situation is possible, because I just looked through the article "Toffee" after I had learned about existence of tofu. --D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 13:08, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello there. I think the hatnotes are there for visitors who arrive at a page unintentionally. That means somebody looking for toffee typed tofu instead, and the other way around. I just don't see that as likely. Maybe I'm wrong, but that just seems sensible to me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:16, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Probably, Wikipedia should be comfortable also for people which do not remember a word perfectly. Say, one remembers that it is something like tofi, tofa, tofo; types "tof", sees "toffee" in the list and goes to this article. But if then one sees the hatnote "Not to be confused with tofu", then this information is very useful for this person. So, maybe, we should write this? Moreover this phrase does not disturb other readers at all. --D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 13:39, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Okay. I see you feel very strongly about this. If you really want, you can restore the hatnotes, but I think others might remove them again. Best wishes and I hope I haven't upset you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:42, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
OK. Maybe, I will discuss this item also with others. :) Best wishes! --D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 13:46, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) (talk page stalker) I agree with Anna. Generally, hatnotes should be used for similar but unrelated names if confusion is likely for a nontrivial portion of readers (e.g. memorization and memoization, Apple Inc. and Apple Corps, etc.). If we used hatnotes for everything that sounds alike, not only would it be highly subjective (I've never associated tofu with toffee until I saw this... and what about coffee?), it would add a lot of clutter for little benefit. For similar situations in the future, I'd suggest that you use the search box's suggestions feature (typing 'tof' reveals both 'tofu' and 'toffee'), or searching with descriptive characteristics on Google. wctaiwan (talk) 13:53, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Musik Lounge

Hi Anna, i just updated my Musik Lounge article with additional media reference, also updated the image with the logo. Can you please revisit the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 17:20, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

The difference between now and last time I checked is the addition of these two references: [4] and [5]. The first is good. It discusses the subject. The second discusses only the creator of the organization. If you can find more like the first, then the article has a chance. At the moment, I don't think the article has enough.
I see you've uploaded another logo, this time a derivative of the copyrighted logo. So, that too is not allowed, sorry to say. Good luck, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:48, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Will you be ok if CNN makes a news about the organization? What's wrong with the logo, i created it myself, i am the owner and creator.

It would be great if CNN does a news report.
The problem with the logo is that it comes from http://www.musiklounge.net/ which says at the bottom: "Copyright@MusikLounge. All rights are reserved 2012." So, Wikipedia must assume that MusikLounge owns it. If an editor named "John Smith" uploaded the image by saying "I made this. It is mine.", we would protect MusikLounge and ourselves by not believing him. We would need proof. I personally believe that you made the logo, but we need proof. But, let's wait until the draft becomes a Wikipedia article, then address the logo issue. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:47, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I added another reference that discusses the subject. For the logo, i'm the creative and owner, what type of proof do you need? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volkanc (talkcontribs) 19:15, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

There are still not enough references. You really need many more. As for the logo, the license you added (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0) requires written proof, and is subject to deletion otherwise. Please, just let the logo be deleted. There is a simpler way. If/when the draft becomes an actual article, you can upload the logo with a "non-free rationale" license. No proof required. But that can only happen after the draft becomes an article. Please worry only about the references. That is the difference between an article and no article. Dig for those references. Again, good luck. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:59, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Photo help

Hi there Anna! Would you know how to transfer a couple of photos? The first one here [6] would go to the Lake County article and the last one to the Chaffee County article, both in Colorado. I have tried quite a few times but my skills are just not good enough. I've asked for help a few times too, but they always say something like, "Oh it's just as easy as pie" and direct me to the instructions. Gandydancer (talk) 23:50, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

No problem. Copy paste this into the article. You can swap the file names to make others.
[[File:The Twin Lakes. Lake County, Colorado - NARA - 516991.tif|thumb|right|The Twin Lakes are loaded with sharks.]]
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:56, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
So far so good! (Though the sharks are always circling and I know they are always hungry...) How about this type--how would I get this one [7] over here? Gandydancer (talk) 11:03, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
I can't seem to access the page. I get a "time-out" message. I tried to view other images, but they are blocked for me because of my location. The site in general, however, is not blocked. I don't know about the copyright status of the images, and can't find the page telling about it. But, it's a US federal government site, so maybe they are okay to upload to Wikicommons. Try asking at Try asking at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page, or http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#wikimedia-commons or http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#wikipedia-en-help Good luck. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:09, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Anna. As soon as I have time I will try your suggestion. BTW, I was so surprised to see your name connected to Chaffee County--you're not from Colorado, are you? Gandydancer (talk) 01:28, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
You're most welcome. I watchlisted that article some time ago when checking your contribs. This was way back during the oil spill article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:42, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

David Angell Humanitarian Award

The David Angell Humanitarian Award might need another look. Apparently the award hasn't been given since 2008 when the founder of the American Screenwriters Association, John E. Johnson, died. I can't find any status about the award after 2008. Viriditas (talk) 02:26, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

It's been in the back of my mind. The only reason I left it was because I couldn't decide where to merge it. I think sending it to David Angell Humanitarian Award is best. What do you think? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:15, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Did you mistype "American Screenwriters Association"? If so, I agree. Viriditas (talk) 21:18, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
It occurs to me that there might be a third option. I've noticed that there are multiple awards given on behalf of David Angell. Viriditas (talk) 21:19, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Mistype "American Screenwriters Association"?
What's the third option? should all the awards just be listed in a section of Angel's article? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:01, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
You said, "I think sending it to David Angell Humanitarian Award is best." Apologies, but I don't understand what sending David Angell Humanitarian Award to David Angell Humanitarian Award means. That's why I asked if you mistyped (or meant) to say American Screenwriters Association. I think the award is defunct and the American Screenwriters Association isn't doing all that much better. I'm curious what Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Awards and prizes has to say. Viriditas (talk) 23:51, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Ah, sorry. I'm an idiot. I was doing two things at once. I meant merge David Angell Humanitarian Award to David Angell#Legacy with a mention of the award at American Screenwriters Association. Plus, round up other award and tribute info and add it to David Angell#Legacy. Should I still ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Awards and prizes or do you think this is a good plan? Sorry for the confusion. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:04, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
That does sound like a good plan, but I also wonder what the awards and prizes project thinks. They often keep defunct awards around for some reason or another. Viriditas (talk) 00:15, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Awards and prizes#David Angell Humanitarian Award. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:25, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Strange sea slugs revisited

Hi Anna. Seeming how you've written about strange sea slugs before, I thought you might be interested in this and this which you could use to make Siphopteron quadrispinosum a blue link. Unfortunately I don't have the time for writing articles at the moment :( SmartSE (talk) 19:05, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you kindly for the lead. It's a lovely little thing. It looks like a baby in a papoose. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:20, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

 Done

No problem - thank you for writing it! As you can see I've added a nice pic too. SmartSE (talk) 23:13, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
Nice pic. I was wondering if you had one up your sleeve. :) I will try to expand the love dart bit. After all, that's the special thing about it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:35, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Copy Vio Removed

Hi Anna, I have revisited and removed the copy vios from all the edits done from 1st July onwards. Please let me know if you come across any copy vios other than that. I will promptly remove the same. Also please guide me, so that I can go ahead with the usual editing. Thanks.BrightStarSky (talk) 10:19, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Wonderful. I will do a spot check and then I (and hopefully Sitush) will work together with you to get you started editing again. I'm afraid I will be busy until Thursday, so please have a nice rest and we will start then. Again, thanks for removing the copyvios. I will post again here in a couple of days. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:41, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
