article title for bridge scour
I am way out of my area of knowledge, but based upon a quick google and reading up, I think you have it well-labeled as "bridge scour". If it is hyrdraulic action that some might be thinking of as "hydraulic bridge scour", a redirect to your bridge scour article makes logical sense to me. I hope that is helpful. I have done these two. Here is what I did, for future reference:
1. ask for the subject (ie: hydraulic bridge scour)
2. when it cant' find it, I create a page with that name
3. on the new page, instead of beginning an article, I typed; #REDIRECT bridge scour
4. repeat same as about for "hydraulic scour" to create another redirect page
I will have to look into "scour". Also, I am not very knwoledgeabel about statistics, suggest you inquire with someone more in that area of WP.

I note that the "scour" article has now has a "dab flag" at the top referring to your "bridge scour" article. If that was your effort, it seems well-done. I think that this approach in this instance is as good or better than creating a complete dab page and forcing everyone to use it (i.e. anyone looking of for that search engine has already reached the correct page as it is now structured). - No problem (and it's good that you've contacted Rockyobody). BTW - "worst vandal I have ever seen"? Really? Perhaps that's a good thing, but if this is anywhere close to the worst you've seen I can assure you that there are vandals that are several orders of magnitude worse. I think we catch most of the really bad ones pretty quickly (if you haven't seen any, that may speak to how fast they're caught). In any event, no harm done. Please read Wikipedia:Vandalism and do what it says (mostly, just revert it yourself and then leave the appropriate warning from Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace - increasing the severity only if there's a previous lower level warning). - Ahhh, okay. I will try and watch where I post next time. Pardon me.
- The photo/pie chart/scour matter turned out this way...It was not a pie chart, but a photo from Dept of Agriculture. Someone from Wikicommons said that if it was a US federal site photo, then fair game, but State is another matter. The pic in question is now the topmost image in the Bridge scour article.
- As for "Archive 26", it would have to be about the discovery of buried information from the 1950s calling for genetic ownership and modification of staple grains to feed a genetically altered ruling class and starve the masses. Then the dorky scientist who discovered the info would get chased all over the map by 'Enemy of the State' types, who would eventually win. The end would be the inevitable Ppesident of a leading nation hissing into the camera like in the 'Body Snatchers'. Give it to Ridley or Mamet. Oscar material for sure.
- Or better still, Jimbo is this Wikimafia kingpin and someone discovers one of his subpages -- Archive 26. Editors start disappearing. Plots thicken. Edit wars with real weapons. People get blocked...permanently. It's Jimbo and the boys with the cement. One guy gets this mysterious 'speedy delete' tag on his userpage. Hi Anna, Hello, so you have an interest in gastropods, or in gastropod taxonomy? That's cool. Thanks for your gastropod contribution. Please do check us out at WikiProject Gastropods. [3] Your article seems perhaps to be based on a taxonomy which is currently a number of years old. Maybe it is the Ponder and Lindberg one? (I am not sure.) In any case we are attempting to use as a standard the Bouchet and Rocroi taxonomy, which you can see at [4]. It's hard to get the gastropod articles up to date, as there are so many thousands of them and a lot are based on older taxonomies. Can I say that if or when we create an article based on another system of taxonomy, we need to state that clearly up front in the intro, so that people don't get too confused. - I brought the articles Apogastropoda and Vetigastropoda in line with the latest insights in the scientific journals. Anyway, you're doing a great job, but try to stick to the taxonomy of Bouchet and Rocroi, otherwise things will get confused. JoJan (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again Anna, Thank so much for persevering, please do not be put off by this potentially very confusing taxonomy stuff. I wrote a reply to your question on the WIkiProject Gastropods talk page here: [5].It is not easy to get up to date with all this, but the Bouchet & Rocroi taxonomy is definitely the one we are using right now, and we hope to gradually update all of the gastropod taxoboxes so that they correspond with that. It is easier to understand if you have a copy of the original paper from Malcologia. Anyway, Ponder and Lindberg is now out of date as are all the other older taxonomies. Gastropod taxonomy will undoubtedly continue to change over the next 10 or 20 years as more and more DNA and RNA studies are done, but like I said, Bouchet & Rocroi is the best thing we have right now. New gastropod stubs for large taxa?
Hi Anna,
I went through the article Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005), which is currently our "Bible" for taxonomy, and I turned all of the taxa names into links. If you go through the list, even the ones that are blue links could benefit from one of your very nice "image collages" for the taxobox. And the ones that are red links, especially the larger Clades and Informal groups, could use one of your stubs. Obviously the taxa that contain a lot of blue linked families will have more images for you to work from in making the collages. Hope this is helpful. Dear Snek, This is just a friendly reminder in advance, that any discussion that relates to possible policies or guidelines about the content and style of articles needs to take place in Wikipedia discussion space. I liked your joke about the slime of gastropods being used at some point to make the best shaving cream ever, so imagine how surprised I was to see that the slime of Helix aspersa is already being used as a face cream (supposedly)! Just google> helix aspersa face cream <and you will get thousands of results! Crazy huh? As it turns out someone already mentioned that in the article, but without a citation. Also there are a lot of very nice nudibranch and other sea slugs images waiting to be used. If you scroll far enough down the project page you will see them. They almost all have genus and species on them already:

- Quick stupid question: Is Aporrhaidae a species, genus, family, or what? Is it the same as Aporrhaididae? Just a quick clue of where it fits (above this, below that, parallel to Aporrhais pespelecani?) Thanks.
Oh boy, I was going way too fast when putting that together, so now I have to claim that as my own double or triple stupidity, sorry. And it was spelled "Aporrhaididae" in the article on A. pespelecani and in the category page too! Makes my head spin.
Google has equal numbers of it spelled Aporrhaididae and Aporrhaiidae, but many more examples of it spelled Aporrhaidae, which I suppose is the correct spelling. I am going to be out all day tomorrow so I won't be on WIkipedia all day so I can't do much research or let you know anything until Sunday. I think maybe you could ask Snek if he would check and see if Aporrhaidae is indeed the correct original spelling for the family, and then we need to standardize it throughout.
So anyway, however it is correctly spelled, the taxon is a family. In the Animalia, all the taxa that end "-idae" are families. Take a look here, where they spell it Aporrhaiidae, (the AnimalBase pages are often very useful but are not always really complete in terms of the genera and species lists and also not 100% reliable (nothing ever is)): [9]

No not at all, it was entirely my fault, if I had spelled the family name correctly you could have googled it OK and got lots of info. By the way the best way to remember the sequence of the taxa is KPCOFGS, in other word Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. There are a lot of possible acronyms here, you can look and choose the one that appeals too you the most, as being the most memorable:[10]

- I think they are indeed the most beautiful creatures on earth. Funny how sci-fi movies always depict life elsewhere as basically human-like, but with some small differences.
