Silver

Hi Anna, just to let you know that I have not forgotten about Silver. I think it best to let the various PRODs/AfDs/merge proposals settle down and then tackle what ever debris may be left. What do you think? - Sitush (talk) 23:53, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Good idea. Also, there are probably few or no remaining copyvio matters on silver. It's probably okay to tell User:MER-C that we're done in that regard, and that he can now proceed without silver overlap or any coordination being necessary. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:28, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Maps

Hey anna. There has been some questions about the batch of maps that I uploaded for you. People are wondering why they are marked as GPL instead of FDL 2.1 and later. cheers --Guerillero | My Talk 18:26, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Dr. Blofeld first told me we could use maps-for-free.com in this thread. He then said here that we we can use the maps "...As long as you license it like File:Nigeria relief map.png...". So, I just followed that.
How can I help? Will they be deleted? Can I change the licenses? Sorry for the trouble. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:57, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
We are going to need to change the licenses on all the improperly licensed images to the correct one. --Guerillero | My Talk 01:24, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I can do that. Please just do one, give me the diff, and I'll make all the others the same. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I will get that to you tomorrow afternoon (EST) --Guerillero | My Talk 02:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Personal attack?

Please take a look at this sequence of diffs written by the editor who wants to add Horse meat (et al) to Dog meat. On the user's talk page, I asked xyr remarks (specifically the ones about white pride) as I felt they are accusing you, Phoenix7777, and myself of racism. The user responded on my talk page to say that xe won't retract them because, in short, the accusations are correct. Is this a block-worthy NPA? Or am I overreacting? I'm going to point Phoenix7777 to this thread to for xyr comments so we can keep the discussion in one place. Qwyrxian (talk) 07:00, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

The edits in question:
  • "...their need to maintain a certain level of white pride and Asian cultural-secessionism..."
  • "...the "Wikipedia controllers" for white pride..."
  • "...I'm suggesting to user Qwyrxian that he not be delusional about..."
  • "...especially those I believe are practicing their covert racism and racially motivated views..."
Yep. That's way over the line. And he stands by them. I don't know what to say. The interesting thing is that the manner and viewpoints of his edits are strikingly similar to those of mbm.
For the record, he has made 9 edits total: 4 personally attacking, 3 canvassing, 0 mainspace. This is a single-purpose account. Let's see what 7777 says. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:06, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

TV Pages

I just saw you revert the TV station sloganizer. Just FYI, I told Deconstructhis on xyr talk page (although xe hasn't been on in over a week) that I'm no longer bothering to revert the "Localized version of national slogan" edits. The person won't go away, even after being blocked. The issues been raised on ANI twice, to no effect. Our defense is that the information isn't sourced, but, then again, very little on most TV stations is. Since the user is so fast at adding them (usually doing 10+ pages at a time), I just don't feel like it's worth the effort. You're, of course, willing to do so, and if you have any ideas at a more longterm solution, I'd be happy to help, but I just don't know what else to do. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:35, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

I'll probably just continue to revert where I can. I'm a bit afraid to use rollback, as it might be challenged on the grounds that the edits are not clear vandalism. I'll also add any new IPs to the black sandbox. It's easy to do this, and the picture it builds up might help with a course of action in the future. Let's check back on the matter in a few months and see. Maybe then I'll just drop it too. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:01, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Anna

Thanks Anna, my mother actually pointed that out when I told her I wrote the article while I was chatting with her. She was going to make her first edit but you were too quick :P Way to be an awesome Wikipedian! Sadads (talk) 16:17, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

My pleasure. But I'm sorry I prevented her first edit. I hope she tried another one. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:04, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Your thoughts, please

If you have time then please could you take a quick look at a newly created article, 2011 Indian protests against black money, and at the creator's contribution history. Then at User_talk:Qwyrxian#2011 Indian protests against black money.

I need to make my mind up whether this is a situation deserving of an SPI or not. - Sitush (talk) 14:04, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Forget it. There was a slew of articles created rapidly and on familiar subjects, with familiar styles (inc redlinked cats etc), so I've opted for Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Maheshkumaryadav. I will be dreadfully upset for MKY if I am wrong because he really doesn't need this sort of pressure, but the similarities are too great for my liking. - Sitush (talk) 14:48, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry. I was away fighting with a flash animation program. It won.
As for MKY: Oh my, oh my. I think you're right. If this is so, I am disappointed for Q. It's not certain, but it does appear that Creatingabetterworld is covered in orange sauce. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:02, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
I actually saw one of those articles, and cringed a bit, but wasn't completely sure, and a quick look at the edit history didn't make me too suspicious. Right choice though Sitush, thanks for starting the SPI, Sadads (talk) 15:22, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I didn't think that it would escalate so quickly, although perhaps I should have known better. We will find out soon. Unfortunately, I'm not much good at putting together SPI reports, so that may cause issues in itself.
I keep well away from Flash, except when unavoidably embedded in webpages. I used to dabble with it but graphic design is another of my weak points. Actually, right now, I'm starting to wonder what my strong points are! - Sitush (talk) 15:24, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Anna, as the person who raised the SPI I think that it is probably best that I do not get involved with recent developments. However, I have seen your note on the MKY talk page and wonder whether it would be worthwhile adding to it that although the SPI has resulted in the imposition of a block by the CU, MKY can still edit his talk page in order to respond etc. He may not be aware of this.
I am right now convinced that it was socking. The sudden switch to messing about with lists in userspace, the cessation of work on a draft in userspace which realistically offered him the best chance back into the fold, the subsequent "I'm busy in real life" followed by a load of mainspace work by a new a/c that followed a certain pattern, and then the "likely" comment at SPI from the CU seems to me to be as near as dammit "proof". He has gotten frustrated, IMO. This would not be a surprise and indeed we've seen it happen before with the second batch of village stubs. However, there is still a way out for him but it does depend in the first instance on him realising that he still has edit access to his talk page. I feel that he needs to speak with Q also, although I think that at this stage that can probably only be done via email. It is a mess; it has been a mess for several weeks; I still have some residual sympathy for the user. Am I mad?
I've not checked to see if the SPI bods spoke with Q before doing what they did. He is away for a couple of days but as a courtesy thing, I would hope that they did, either here or via email. OTOH, I've had experience with Courcelles before and cannot recall an instance where I could question his/her action. My gut feeling is that this was the correct decision, but my heart is oh-so-slightly saying something else. I think that Q's task is now near-impossible but would not have an issue if Q did try some advocacy. - Sitush (talk) 23:50, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
All of the evidence combined is damning. There is a tiny % change that it's not him, in my opinion. If this were real life, the jury would make the subject rot in jail forever. (Except for the investment class and politicians. They, of course, might possibly only have to resign, while keeping the loot.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:02, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Hm. That may be a very subtle reference to corruption in India there! My congratulations to you, although as a general comment it is still valid ;) - Sitush (talk) 00:07, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
I honestly meant nothing about any country in particular. That's a global thing. I've been watching a lot of lectures on that sort of thing lately. But of course, looking at the sock's creation, it ought to have come to mind from that. I'm astonished that I didn't see that. I'm definitely getting dumber. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:47, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for dealing with user Zhengty2008's myriad of questionable edits.

I'm currently studying in China right now, so I can tell you that this is the work of agents trying to promote their own websites (SEO practice). I've noticed this vandalism on a lot of pages...sometimes agents are blatant enough to try and disguise their sites as the school's official website. Thanks again for the work. I think that the bot is scanning the text for phrases etc, then scoring for likelihood of being India-related. Most new articles, after all, do not have talk banners. Well, not the ones I come across, at any rate. - Sitush (talk) 01:26, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm afraid I can't do that, Anna. (Them's the jokes, friends! Wokka-wokka!) Seriously though, my highest compliments and regards about your work with Mahesh. I'm sorry it turned out the way it did. I'm taking a nice, long wikibreak but I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye. Please give my best to Qwyrxian and Sitush. PMDrive1061: have a nice break, and thanks for your good help on the M matter. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:34, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
I didn't comment, yet, because I don't want to sound insensitive...but I thought it was really funny, too. In his own way, he's a "good" guy, he's just not getting that his purposes and Wikipedia's don't match, and that, since we're a privately run website, he can't impose his style on us. It's not really all that different than the person who says, "But I want to post that George Bush is a big fat idiot; it's true and this is supposed to be the encyclopedia anybody can edit right?" The difference is that half the subjects Mahesh was pushing really are "good" things (fighting corruption) or things we're missing (Indian village stubs); but the process was just not there. I wonder if he'll try socking again after (likely) being banned... Qwyrxian (talk) 22:25, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Q: The cause was noble. His methods were not. I can't classify him as a good guy. He cost us dearly, knew it, and continued. I think you are too kind. You should be livid. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:34, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Added this one to AIV. They have been warned by me on multiple pages multiple times to cease so I did the mass revert. Nate (chatter) 18:57, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Was blocked for 31 hours, much less than I was seeking. Nate (chatter) 19:22, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
I saw your reverts pop up; note that you didn't actually really revert the problem in most cases; sometimes, you only reverted one in a series of edits; if you really want to undo that person's work, you basically need to remove any slogan that says "localized version of...". I'm not saying you necessarily should, but that would be a complete reversion. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:20, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I would have gone through more to get it done, but I had to get to work and got distracted by RL things after I did my rollbacks. I'll try to remove those in the future. Nate (chatter) 05:03, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for doing the mass revert. What do you think of me using rollback? It's not clear vandalism, but then again, ample talk warnings to stop.
I await replies from the TV stations, although I'm not sure what to do with info, if they actually reply.
In case you're not aware, see: [3].
Any idea of how to handle this whole thing? I'm puzzled. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:34, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
A bunch more today; one possibility would be to ask for indefinite or at least long term semi-protection on all of the articles. The problem is, as always, that this isn't really "vandalism" per se, and thus might not qualify. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:28, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
I can't see any sort of protection being acceptable. If we can use go the route of warning the user with a standard "enhanced" letter, then using rollback, for now, that may be the most efficient plan. In fact, that plan means about 1 minute's effort for 50 of his edits. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:34, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Requests for feedback - Page: Abhay Kumar

Hi Anna,

greetings! It'll be of great help if you could review the article again. Currently the page Abhay Kumar has this banner:
This article's tone or style may not reflect the formal tone used on Wikipedia. Specific concerns may be found on the talk page. See Wikipedia's guide to writing better articles for suggestions.

I've made some changes in order to resolve the issue, I've mentioned them below:

  • Abhay Kumar (Hindi: अभय कुमार; Russian: Абхай Кумар) (also known as Abhay K) is an Indian author, poet, artist and diplomat. His bookRiver Valley to Silicon Valley tries to draw the portrait of a modern young Indian.[1] His award winning work in Gov2.0 & digital diplomacy,[2] his philosophical poetry, planetary scale of thinking in his art works [3] and his writings on Global democracy [4] strive for a second renaissance on the planet.

Feedback

It looks better. I would remove/replace "award winning", "strive for", "serious" (journals).

I didn't check the ref for "...A new urge for Global democracy and planetary consciousness is reflected in his art works. ...", but that sounds like an opinion.

If some of "...He believes whatever be our individual, social or other interests, we should not forget that we have only one cosmic home, Earth...", is a quote, it should be formatted as a quote.

The "removed" section above contains good facts that could remain.

Content like "...He manages to evoke both a smile and tear, with sheer lyrical spontaneity and thematic honesty and candour..." is not encyclopedic, regardless of the source, which incidentally, is wordpres.com, a blog.

The whole article needs some attention to punctuation, and use of capitalization.

There are plenty more issues with the article, but that'll keep you busy. :)

Good luck. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:13, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Anna,

Good morning, the introduction of Sothwest University for Nationalities (SWUN) we submitted yesterday is the translation from our Chinese official website www.swun.edu.cn, why you claimed the content of our university is SOAPBOX and ADVERTISING? Is this discrimination or....? Recently we received many queries in terms of the inaccurate informaion originated from Wikipedia, e.g. small university, etc. which ruined the reputation of our university. We urge to change to the correct one without any hesitation. Furthermore, as we edit on Wikipedia the first time, please have your understanding on some mistakes made. Thanks for your help and wish you a nice day!

Cheers, Victoria and Daddy (formerly SWUN International)

P.S. I wrote to Teapotgeroge yesterday, but so far no response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoria and Daddy (talkcontribs) 03:56, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello and welcome. I'll write in point form for clarity.
  • I don't think any discrimination is going on.
  • I didn't revert any of your edits from Southwest University for Nationalities. That was someone else. But, I did place the message on your talk page.
  • Your url for your Chinese official website (www.swun.edu.cn) bounces to this. Could you please give a more specific source for the content you added to the Wikipedia article?
  • Could you please identify the "...inaccurate informaion..." in the article?
  • A source other than cucas would be best.
  • You say that the content you "...submitted yesterday is the translation from our Chinese official website...". The content you added (that was reverted as SOAPBOX and ADVERTISING) was a copy and paste from the cucas website. You absolutely must rewrite it in your own words. Otherwise it is a copyright violation.
  • We are all acting in good faith. So, please forgive our mistakes.
  • Of course, we assume good faith on your part. So, don't worry about any mistakes on your end. :)
  • Are you connected to User:Zhengty2008 in any way?
If you have any questions, please ask.
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:51, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

SWUN (II)

Hi Anna, Thanks for the clarification. My inputs are:

1)the English version from Cucas was officially provided by SWUN authority, the university has the copyright but cucas, why we violet copyright not cucas? Therefore, we needn't to do anything. If you have any suspicious, you're highly and kindly welcome to call our leaders, i.e. the President, Prefessor ZHAO Xinyu, and the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Professor LUOBU Jiangcun whenever and wherever possible, everything will be cleared up. The tel no. is in public on our official website.

2)concerning the "inaccurate information" I claimed is that's the "small university", etc. Could you please give us the criteria, what is the defination of "small university'? As matter of fact, our univerity is famous and built up under the support of former Premier ZHOU Enlai and DENG Xiaoping (the famous leaders and founders of the People's Republic of China, even famous in the world!)60 years ago. The university had hornered very higher reputation in southwest of China region, and is one of the largest university in this region of China, so far over 20,000 students (full-time, undergraduate, post-graduate of master, doctorate level, post-doctoerate level, etc.) in campus, why "samll"?

3) who is Zhengty2008 and why to be connected to him? Is he our graduate student or staff? Is he on behalf of our university? If not, why he has the right but not ours? Please justify, thank you! Cheers, Victoria and Daddy (SWUN International) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoria and Daddy (talkcontribs) 12:50, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

additional to SWUN (II)

Hi Anna, In my last message, I wrote "so far over 20,000 students in campus" , I mean there're over 20,000 students studying in university NOW, hope it cleared up. Thanks. Victoria and Daddy (SWUN International) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Victoria and Daddy (talkcontribs) 12:56, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello,

1) If content comes from a site, it must be paraphrased. We cannot write to people to find out who owns the rights. 2) I removed "small". You can also make such changes. If it's not sourced, you can remove it. (I love Deng Xiaoping. One of my heroes. A great man.) 3) I believe the you are not connected to Zhengty2008. Hi Anna, You're very nice to us! And I appreciate that you love DENG Xiaoping. Thank you! The truth I would like to tell you is that the old (exisiting) website is in process of upgrading, therefore there're no space to reorganized the English version. The site is in Chinese only, should you have any Chinese friends, please have their help to verify if my clarification is right or not. Hi

Hi is it okay to make this article or not?--Jimmyson1991 (talk) 23:03, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

I guess you are referring to Lei Qiang. I see that you just tagged it for speedy deletion. I was just looking for sources. They looked like mostly industry sites, but there may have been enough.
In future endeavours, please ensure that none of the content is copy pasted into the article. You really must rewrite the material from the source. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:31, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Yes okay sorry no worries, I'm just getting used to how to properly edit and work on Wiki thanks for baring with me.--Jimmyson1991 (talk) 02:55, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Bye

I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye. After much consideration, I am retiring and requesting desysopping. I've posted a "retired" template and redirected my talk page to the user page. I've also requested desysopping. It's been fun up until recently. Too many whack jobs and weirdos on the internet. Regards, the former PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:21, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

That's terrible news for Wikipedia. I hope you return for light editing. You may find that best. No pressure. No whack jobs. :) Either way, I wish you best. You've been wonderful. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:10, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I was surprised to see the Retirement notice earlier today. Anna's sentiments reflect mine. - Sitush (talk) 17:57, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
You were a great administrator and editor. I'm sorry to see you leave Wikipedia, and I hope that you will one day come back. Since you full protected your talk page, I'll leave this note here. (I hope you don't mind Anna Frodesiak) Best wishes in real life, Alpha Quadrant talk 02:46, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you all. It would seem that I should have said my goodbyes to a lot of other wonderful users and perhaps left my talk page open. :P I am in fact desysopped by my own choice and I admit that I couldn't help but sneak a peek at this page. The legal department of the Wikimedia Foundation is aware of the issues administrators are now facing. I don't know what the outcome will be, but please know that there is some real work going on to try and stop this kind of abuse of this site's hard-working volunteers. It's been a pleasure working with all of you and perhaps someday, we'll do so again. With much love, PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:36, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Notes and suggestions for your Black Sandbox

Hey there, I am letting you know that I have caught at least one user already blocked from editing as shown on your black sandbox. I suggest that you could add the following besides what you currently have:

  • "Status" column - The status could help me keep track of who has been blocked from editing Wikipedia.
    • "N" - see your Black Sandbox page
    • "B" - User has been blocked (duration and/or expired date is specified on "Notes")
  • "User Warned" column - This is divided by category
    • "Y" - Yes, the user has been warned by you.
    • "YA" - Yes, the user has been warned by you and another autoconfirmed user.
    • "ACU" - Yes, the user has been warned by another autoconfirmed user (e.g. User:CHAK 001).
    • "ADM" - Yes, the user has been warned by an administrator.
    • "YAA" - Yes, at least one administrator and one autoconfirmed user were involved in warning the user.
    • "NO" - No warning was issued to the user in the past three months.

Any reasons could also be specified in the "Notes" column. Keep in mind that I do give warnings, but only in one form depending on the offense as specified within Wikipedia. Perhaps I may modify it if that permits, so it can be easier for me to read what is going on. CHAK 001 (talk) 03:30, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the comments. And thanks for getting on board. We really could use a tiger on this one.
Yes, please, feel free to modify the page. Suggestions on how to handle this would be very welcome. We have plenty of tracking, but it's a solution that we lack. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:41, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

My drawing

Where's my drawing? You go off offering artwork to people but offer l'il ole me nothing. <g> Will take another look at what is left at Silver (in its new place) tomorrow. Hope you are keeping well & enjoying the goat curries. - Sitush (talk) 00:36, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh no. I'm becoming resident artist. :) Okay. I forget if you asked for a subject. But you must. Preferably an animal, although I'm not very good at back legs.
I PRODded hoping they would not be contested. If we can sort out the Chandigarh ones, that will leave only a couple of AfDs. Then, we're done!!
No goat. Sort of gone off curries lately. Baking lots of bread though. Very best wishes. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:43, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Got carried away with something else today. Not on my back legs, I hasten to add. I promise that I will look tomorrow after I get back from my heart consult. Baking bread, eh? I've been gobbling loaves made of a mix of wheat, spelt and rye recently. Gorgeous and great for dunking in a bowl of soup. But getting hold of spelt is a bit of a palaver.
I love that thing on your user page - some talent, there. But you have better things to do than draw your impression of my dog. A woof sketch, perhaps? - Sitush (talk) 23:58, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
I sent one to AfD today but it is not particularly well-formed - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Media bias in India (2nd nomination). I couldn't find Silver on MYK's page, so I guess that it must be in the archives somewhere there. They appear to have gone slightly wrong, at least when I looked: the was no archive #3. Will try again tomorrow. - Sitush (talk) 22:56, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the AfD. We are nearing the end of the fiasco.
Silver is in M's archive 4: [5]
Oh, and what's a "woof sketch"?
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:25, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
A homophonic pun: dogs go "woof", at least in England; and a rough sketch is often the starting point for a work of art. I forget the word, but they bark something else in France, for example. Probably shrug their shoulders slightly as well. Thanks for the Silver link. - Sitush (talk) 23:30, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Yes, it was because you added a website for the non-notable ProductLair into an article. As that company doesn't have an article here, it is deemed non-notable, and thus spam. We are careful not to use Wikipedia as a promotional tool. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:32, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

TV station blah blah

Hey Anna, I see that you've been duking it out with one of them IPs, for instance on WTHR. I've looked at a dozen or more (it feels like a million) of those articles and am systematically removing those slogans and the news program titles--as unverified, unencyclopedic, WP:NOTDIR, etc etc. Somewhere I ran into an SPI that I think you had something to do with as well. I think it's time to do something for real, maybe a big fat rangeblock or so. I'll take any suggestions you may have. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 02:36, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, I'm stumped. See:
  • [6] IP as sockmaster :)
  • [7] Command centre
  • [8] Ani thread
Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
OK--that's good. But for instance here: which block is being evaded? Is this a matter related to that SPI? Those block notices often raise more questions than they give answers. Drmies (talk) 02:59, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
BTW, some of this is happening right now. I'm at 3R already on WXYZ-TV... Drmies (talk) 03:01, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Good point. I started the SPI to keep track, that's all. Then I moved the data to black sandbox. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:00, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Here's everyone connected to recent activity on WXYZ-TV:

I'll stick them into black sandbox. I don't know what to make of this, but something needs to be done about this whole matter. By the way, another user added all those keys to the list of users at black sandbox. I can't keep up with it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:13, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, I saw that key--much complication is not always good, but anyway. Just a list is already a good idea. Circle actually left a message on my talk page, in a very beginnerish manner. I dropped MuZemike a note about that block and have asked them to comment here. You're command central now, Captain Anna. Drmies (talk) 03:17, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
  • You can safely scrap Djay, I think. Drmies (talk) 03:18, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Djay edited Fordson High School, so maybe a kid/kids doing this. Maybe a project. :) Anyway, it's a pain in the butt, even with rollback. I wonder if they know that (as we can see by the timestamps) hours of destruction is reversed in an instant.
I updated black sandbox with a raw sorted list in case a range block is the way to go. I might abandon the table, as a sortable list seems to help us keep track better. Or would chronosort best? Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:26, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
By the way, Djay20 has only made good edits, so I just welcomed him. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:30, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I think a shotgun would be most helpful. Hey, I saw you met Homer; pity he's gone. We never got to write up some of the TV-station related stuff we agreed on, some practical guidelines. Anyway, right now I wouldn't go through too much trouble besides just keeping a record. What is needed (but I'm hoping that MuZemike will explain--they know this stuff much better than I) is a judgment, something about disruptive editing and IP hopping (an indefinite block? a community ban?) that the others can easily get tied to. Then it's just a matter of maintenance and containing, and instant blocking (I have that button now) or range blocking, and we don't have to leave long, friendly messages (like you did--I admire your patience) or vandalism warnings. They know what's going on, and we need to be able to enforce that. Thanks for your time, Anna. Drmies (talk) 03:32, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

A simple plan

Ok, per path of least resistance, if it's clearly the same guy, dump the IP into a simple black sandbox list and hit rollback a bunch of times. Easy.

Can I use rollback for this? Do I need to post at user's talk?

This plan, I can pass on to the handful of others involved. This will add up to 30 seconds per week. Peanuts. We can leave it at that for half a year and maybe he'll go away. Would that be a good plan? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:39, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, this can be done. Note the warning I left on User talk:74.178.220.72--but this was before I knew the scale of it. Explaining why one uses rollback before one uses it reminds me of a certain procedure at one's annual doctor's visit, but now that I have seen evidence of widespread consensus that these edits are vandalism, I think it's fine. What would be helpful is to note some characteristics of their edits on your Command Central page, also as a reference to others. (I have something similar at User:Drmies/Roman Catholic?). But I'm still interested in what MuZemike has to say.

I looked at the list. Another note: I don't think Revinchristian (talk · contribs) is involved. Maybe a grand central SPI would be preferable, with CU involved for alternate accounts (such as, possibly, Circle). As soon as I hear what block there was that was being evaded, I can basically block on sight...For now, let's stick with your plan. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 03:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

This looks like it's all anonymous, which actually does fit the previous MO. I mean, nobody except Neutralhomer has really brought it up (but he has since been driven away by another editor(s)), and I don't think I was very successful in containing anything here.

To say the least, there are a lot of IPs and ranges involved here, and User:Anna Frodesiak/Black sandbox clearly shows that. My logical guess is that we start there first and see what we can do there as far as determining what kind of disruption is there and whether or not blocks are necessary. –MuZemike 05:51, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Sorry for butting in--I first met Homer because I started removing that info years ago, as well as the "former personalities" sections. We came to an agreement on that; I might write that up and give him credit. Anyway, that block you made for block evasion--what was the block that was evaded in the first place? Do you remember? Drmies (talk) 14:25, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Will use rollback, thanks.
  • Looked at User:Drmies/Roman Catholic?. Good model. Simple.
  • Revinchristian was always unlikely, as are others on the list. (See collapsebox at black sandbox.)
  • SPI may be preferable indeed. Whenever you feel the time is right.
  • Too bad about Homer. A good egg.
  • The "more of the same" warning post seems best.
  • I will advise others that the "simple plan" is the best route, for now.
  • This "simple plan" may be good indefinitely due to the low energy input: lots of edits per IP, relatively few IPs, use of rollback. No exactly whack-a-mole.
  • With several of us on the lookout, we have good watchlist coverage.
  • I will post the plan below at User:Anna Frodesiak/Black sandbox. Feel free to modify it there.
The "simple plan" in a nutshell:
  1. Warn the user with "more of the same"
  2. Check contribs some time in the future
  3. Rollback all
  4. Add the IP to the list
  5. Block IP if he continues

WXYZ edits

WXYZ, when it was an ABC owned station, was required to localize all of the ABC fall campaigns, as well as airing the entire ABC schedule. I was also told all of the ABC Channel 7s did this. I referenced one of the slogans (the one from 1981) on the WXYZ page. Its a youtube link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CircleWXYZ (talkcontribs) 13:36, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:40, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Not a problem :) CircleWXYZ (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:50, 22 June 2011 (UTC).

  • Sorry, but my problem is this: why are slogans notable in the first place? I see no reason for including them whatsoever. Besides, a YouTube link to a program is primary evidence. Drmies (talk) 14:20, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

I thought it was important to list them, since its apart of the station's history. I put it in the logos and imaging section instead of the slogan list, because they were not slogans that were locally produced for the station. They were just customized versions of the network campaigns. I am thinking about doing for WXYZ what I did for WEWS, as far as just saying that WXYZ localized several ABC fall campaigns in the 1970s, up til mid 1980s. I could note that as an ABC owned and operated station, the station was required to localize all of ABC's fall campaigns from the 1970s and 1980s. That way, there's less clutter on that page. What do you guys think?

CircleWXYZ (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:32, 22 June 2011 (UTC).

  • Circle, first of all, thanks for having joined the discussion--that's a good thing. Well, some of that information is interesting on a higher level, that of ABC policy for its affiliates, but only if properly verified. That this is relevant for each of the stations, I would dispute that. Homer and I agreed that slogans and names of news programs weren't relevant or notable, and we were the only ones interested in discussing that issue at the time.

I was looking at those logos, and I personally don't have much of a problem with a logo here and there, as long as it doesn't turn the article into a gallery, and as long as it doesn't fall foul of the relevant policy, Wikipedia:Non-free content--which it will according to some Wikipedia editors. WP:ANI is full of it right now; see Wikipedia:Ani#Get_the_WMF_legal_team_to_make_a_statement, for instance. Drmies (talk) 14:41, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Hey Drmies,

I am going to just say that WXYZ customized several ABC fall campaigns in the 1970s, up until the network sold the station in 1986. That way, no unnecessary stuff is put on the page. I'll just say that 'We're Still the One' was the most notable of the campaigns, since it was the most popular ABC campaign from that time period. Thanks again for the imput. CircleWXYZ (talk)

  • OK--if you have a reliable, secondary source saying so! ;) Drmies (talk) 14:52, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Ugh, the website which stated that all the ABC Channel 7s localized 'We're Still the One' was taken down. it was the 80s tv themes site. UGH!

Thank you kindly. I'm wondering if you could do us a favour. As you can see above, in the section entitled "TV station blah blah", there is an IP editor who has been adding hundreds of slogans and newscast titles to TV station articles. Could you ask your friend at the station if there is some sort of industry publication this IP editor is using as a source? It would be great to know where he is getting the information from, and whether or not it's true. Many editors here would be very grateful if you could help in this way. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:54, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. Personally, I believe its the same person who's adding slogans at the wiki Annex site. He's added some slogans I've never heard of. For instance, he's added WJBK slogans on that site, and I know WJBK didn't use any of it. I know, because I've lived in Detroit since the late 1980s, and I don't recall any of those slogans at all. Very strange, indeed. But I'll see what I can do.

CircleWXYZ (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:05, 22 June 2011 (UTC).
So, this user is adding slogans elsewhere, and false info to boot! What is the wiki Annex site?
Your help is much appreciated on this end. Good detective work, my friend.
If there's anything I can help you with here at Wikipedia, just ask.
Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Here is the address: http://annex.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

I believe this is the user who's been adding all the slogans, but I'm not sure. He's added a lot of slogans on this site.

Very helpful indeed. I'll look into it. I imagine others will see this post and find it helpful too. Cheers! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:34, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Wow. His edits sure look familiar. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:54, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

More suggestions on your black sandbox?

You may also need to add the following, but I will leave this up to you:

  • Statement: "Some users will only give one-time warnings on any user's talk page." An example of this is shown here.
  • Additions: Participating users (signing four tildes)

Perhaps those can improve your editing... CHAK 001 (talk) 21:12, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Also, I am currently developing a template to supplement the warning; click here for more. There is at least one template that I am currently creating as of now (do not click on templates that lists the city and state). Maybe you could help out (you can ask other users for help if you like to), which that template should help you out... CHAK 001 (talk) 22:07, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm happy either way with the warning notices. There are half a dozen editors watching the stations, and the vandal's handywork is all but reverted. I think we have this well in hand, and can go on with our business.
From a whack-a-mole point of view, this mole sticks his head out of the same hole for a long time, is none to bright, and there are lots of editors with mallets standing around.
Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:29, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

So I was looking at your basement and realised, how very appropriate it would be for a user to click on that image and go to User:Dr. Blofeld, Sadads (talk) 08:26, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Actually, User:Dr. Blofeld wanted me to put him in a painting upstairs. I said I would put him in the cafe sitting, but then realized that there's no way Blofeld would ever be in a cafe like that. So, I gave him a place in the basement. As for a link, I don't think he would like that.
Saayyyyyy, would you be so kind as to handle the help wanted thing above? It's a 60 second jobs, I promise. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:37, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Anna, I uploaded the photos as per your request. Anytime you need anymore doing just let me know, I would be glad to help out. Best wishes, Antarctic-adventurer (talk) 06:53, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Ah, thank you so, so much. I've very grateful. Hope you are well. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:58, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Citizen Cyborg

Hello Anna. Regarding the Citizen Cyborg article, you are correct that it is in violation of copyright. I was unfamiliar with Wikipedia's coypyright guidelines at the time I added this content. Feel free to remove. --Loremaster (talk) 17:03, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

I did remove it. Forgive my intrusion, but when did you discover the copyright violation guidelines? What I mean is, did you go back and remove your copy pastes from other articles? I'm not sure why you've allowed an entire copy paste article to remain for 5 years. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:09, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
I should have been more specific in explaining that I thought copy-pasting a book description for a Wikipedia article on a book would be an exception to copyright guidelines. As for why I allowed it to remain for 5 years, I honestly forgot about it because it rates very low in the articles I watch over and care about. --Loremaster (talk) 23:38, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
I understand. Again, forgive the intrusion. When it comes to copyvios, I tend to be rather nosy. :) Thanks for your time. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:44, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your erudition and prolific contributions!

Thank you for welcoming me to Wikipedia. However, I am not new. I have been reading and editing articles in this encyclopedia since its inception, under various IP addresses. Like you, there are numerous scholars who volunteer their time to make this one of the finest encyclopedias on earth. Some of them have NEVER received an award for hours of hard and insightful work. When I am inspired by the high quality or volume of a user's contribution, I like to acknowledge it. It is my expression of goodwill for a user's diligence and it generally brings joy to a user's life. A barnstar is hardly enough compensation for me to thank you and many others for all of the work that you do to enhance the quality of people's lives with this information. --Isleofbelle (talk) 17:10, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

A thousand pardons. I had no idea. I thought that you were brand new, and going the way of User:Bryan Anderson, who set an all time record of 100 barnstars in 124 edits, then left. :) I am delighted that you give credit when credit is due. Please accept my humblest apologies. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Station slogans

I've added 74.178.220.72 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) to the list; I saw you had reverted them a few times already also. I've blocked them. Drmies (talk) 01:49, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Splendid. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:11, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
I will keep watch on your black box, Anna. I will also watch for any user attempting to add them as well. The user that Drmies has added was after a severe warning was issued by me. CHAK 001 (talk) 02:22, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you kindly. Hopefully your "severe" template will dissuade them my triggering a childhood memory of something that was severe, e.g. severe weather, severe flu, a severe thrashing from a drunken, sadistic, wild-eyed nun at a reform school. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:37, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
By the way, I do apologize in the delay of response to Drmies. CHAK 001 (talk) 03:29, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Also, the warning template are only designed to supplement the Wikipedia templates, and only one-time warnings that I give to other users. CHAK 001 (talk) 03:35, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
I understand. Either way is fine with me. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:45, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

All Warning Sandbox edits

Hey there, Anna. I was thinking that you may be able to help in contributing to my sandbox, now that I helped you out in your sandbox. I wanted to expand of where you left off to include many more things, and I hope that you may be able to understand my own concept...

You may wish to check it out by clicking here, although there are strict instructions for editing my sandbox, especially when adding users to the list. I will need lots of editors and/or administrators to help contribute to my sandbox (good editors and/or administrators are strongly recommended), provided that you provide a link to my sandbox, and that they sign using four tildes in the appropriate section if they wish to contribute. CHAK 001 (talk) 07:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

That's quite an initiative. Are you aware of the ordinary venue?
I think I should allow others, especially admins, to weigh in on that before I contribute. You see, it's sort of unorthodox to be handling such matters in sanboxes, as it's a bit like a private enterprise. I've done it twice: Once for handling a massive copyvio and stub cleanup. But that seemed okay because we feared centering the cleanup on his talk page would have prompted disruptive edits from him. Also, there was no better place, and the copyvio crew was up to their necks in other matters. And this time with the TV stations because ANI didn't go anywhere, and there was no sockmaster, and no central place to keep track. We hope to move the whole TV thing to an SPI as soon as we can. I would like that very much.
But, I'm not wild about doing things like this in sandboxes. Sure, planning out an overhaul of an article with others cooperating is one thing, but beyond that and I get uncomfortable. Let's see what others say. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:01, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Before I explain, I have modified the edit a little bit to be very clear of the links that I regularly use (when linked within Wikipedia). Please try to use external links only on links outside Wikipedia.
First of all, I am already aware of such intervention against vandalism. This is only a tool to help me (and possibly others) to see if there are any problem areas that users might be having, and it is not only limited to just vandalism of one type. It can be vandalism of all types, plus problem areas in other articles.
In all of the years that I have edited Wikipedia, in addition to television stations, I also watch some articles such as local sports' teams, and even anime, most notably the Pokémon anime series and most recently, television station KGO-TV. The Pokémon anime and the latest episode from the series had problems with reverting edits, which led me to all the asking (see my talk page). That in turn, plus what you have created, made me think of creating one where you left off, then expanding to all types of problems.
Second of all, recall that when you reviewed me in your "Editor's Review", you wanted to improve my editing a bit, which is another possible reason why you probably encouraged me to help do more "reverting" edits. I should note that most administrators want at least 50 "reverting" edits before I can even have review or rollback rights, which I currently do not have at this point. Even if I were to request one, I only have less than 10 percent chance of doing so.
Third, you wanted to allow others, including administrators, to weigh in before contributing. You should also encourage them to help improve the sandbox, since I am trying to figure out ways that I could use whatever was given to help better revert edits, give one-time warnings, or even to help report those to administrators. Improving my sandbox is what I am most interested in rather than weighing in, but I still want to leave my sandbox mostly unchanged whenever possible. Please do not blank the page, as it is currently a sandbox (since it is used for test-edits). Even if I wish to have my sandbox go to the Wikipedia public, it could take many years before doing so. This is primarily due to suggestions by users and/or administrators, as well as minor tweaking in this sandbox.
I have noticed at the end of your statement that you may agree with some, but you could also get uncomfortable. When filling out using the format shown in my sandbox, although I prefer a good report, you do not have to go too much in detail for each step, but you cannot leave anything blank. This would allow other users and administrators that participate to help better track the articles that are most likely at risk (not limited to vandalism and frequent reverting). In the "Status/Notes" column, any user or administrator can also add what policies they abide by, such as WP: BAN and WP: BLOCK to help users that are not 100 percent familiar to Wikipedia's policies (this does not apply to IP addresses).
Most importantly, I do plan to also require proper formatting, similar to the one stated in my talk page policy. Just keep in mind that all registered users, autoconfirmed users, and administrators are welcome to edit my sandbox. I hope that you understand some of my explanation. CHAK 001 (talk) 18:44, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
CORRECTION: I have reduced the number of tildes to three for privacy reasons. CHAK 001 (talk) 19:15, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure that I should "...encourage them to help improve the sandbox...". I'm still not clear what it's for. Do people come and give an IP and fill out the form, and then you warn them? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:55, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
You almost are on the right track (refer to the general instructions). People can also use any username or IP address that has violated any of Wikipedia policies.
First, to participate, they must sign in using three tildes. Then, when they edit any part of my sandbox, the user follows the directions using the given format (none of them must be left empty). Any user, including you and I (and not including IP addresses), can respond to the corresponding article(s) that was given in the report. The questions given are rather short and simple, though. CHAK 001 (talk) 00:14, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I also don't understand. Why would we do this instead of just using templated warnings ourselves? This method seems both much more time consuming and less effective, since the user doesn't actually see the warning. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:02, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Qwyrxian, the user does not see the warnings yet (since it is only a sandbox project, not an actual Wikipedia page yet). If you feel that you need someone else to investigate it, you can do so if you wish. My aim is not to have user been notified until any one of the participants look carefully at the past edits based on what is written down. It is not overly too complicated, though. After looking at several edits, then any user (not including IP addresses) decides. Not all users do however use the same structure. Also, if you are tired of reverting edits that a user has made, you are free to add that user to the list. If you want to improve the sandbox, feel free to talk it out at my talk page (that is stated in my sandbox). CHAK 001 (talk) 02:28, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Okay. I think I understand. You are saying that we report naughty IPs to you, fill out the form, then you keep an eye on them and give them severe warnings when necessary? Forgive me CHAK, if I'm a bit slow. In school I was so slow that I was voted most likely to come to a complete stop. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:33, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Anna, not just naughty IPs, users that also seems to have persistent problems as well. By the way, Anna and Qwyrxian, a sample of such can now be viewed in my sandbox if you do not understand. CHAK 001 (talk) 02:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Just one more thing to say: If you recall going back to improving the sandbox, if any user (except IP addresses) feels that improvement is needed in my sandbox, you can use my talk page to do so. CHAK 001 (talk) 03:01, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
I get it now. I admire your initiative. I'm wondering if this is an improvement over the normal procedure. Could you please ask others, preferably an admin, to render an opinion? It's important that it meets with the approval of the community.
By the way, the system that I use, and likely others too, is to revert and warn, and then usually check their contribs. Sometimes, with newly-registered, naughty users, I add their name to a notepad on my computer, and check up on them once or twice to see if they are behaving. That seems to work fine. Are you offering a service to do exactly that? Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:19, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, Anna, let me break it down first. First of all, you did notice that I have already added a user to my list of potential problem users (that was revised a few times). Your method that worked on your sandbox will be able to work on my sandbox as well, as I do admire your methods on cracking down on problem users, though I do want to expand to problem users also being problematic for other offenses according to Wikipedia policies. It will also give me an opportunity to explore and go deeper by the rules that Wikipedia states, which I believe could also help others that are not at least 80 percent familiar with the rules.
As for service, that is up to you, but I only allow any administrators, autoconfirmed users, and registered users to edit my sandbox and they can help improve my sandbox, as long as they read my sandbox more carefully and abide by "the free encyclopedia". CHAK 001 (talk) 03:41, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Ok. Sounds great. As I have lousy judgement, I'm officially on standby pending input from an admin or other experienced user. :) Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:44, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Now that I do understand, I'm strongly of the opinion that the page should be deleted. Per WP:UP#POLEMIC, you can't use your userpage to store a list of "bad" editors, unless you are specifically doing so with the intent of pursuing dispute resolution against the user(s) in a timely manner. Arguably, Anna's Black Sandbox is borderline (we may want to consider if it, too, violates this policy), because it's probably all about a single user, and hopefully will lead soon to a more durable solution (a rangeblock, page protection, banning, etc.). Yours, however, seems like you just intend it to be any given IP user whom you notice has been blocked or warned. It's like you're trying to create a secondary system of tracking bad behavior, above and beyond the current talk page histories and block logs. I can't see any benefit, and I can see potential harm. Try getting the opinion of some admins, as I could be wrong here (or possibly still misunderstanding the point of the page), but I think this page should probably go to MfD. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:06, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Qwyrxian makes a pretty good case, and the input is very, very much appreciated.
As for the black sandbox, the instant it gets dumped into the SPI system, I'll be happy. Maybe the result of this whole thread could be just that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:47, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

I am OK with Qwyxian's case in terms of what was stated in his remarks, but I was planning on going another direction in order to comply with the policies, however. I was planning a revamp to include a dispute resolution, though. Additionally, depending on either Qwyrxian's remarks and/or Anna's comments, my alternate plans may include the following if it holds up:

  • Keep the format that I have used, but go with a "dispute resolution" case. Only track editors that seems to have problems with editing, and change some sections; delete after a short period.
  • Change from "Status/Notes" to "Final Judgement"; delete the user after a short period; modify and/or tweak the instructions a bit.

I am not sure if any of those still violate the rules as per WP:UP#POLEMIC. Still, I am trying to figure out how to have all of those comply with the appropriate policies when editing my sandbox (if there are other suggestions, please chime in). CHAK 001 (talk) 06:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Holy cow! My brain hurts. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:50, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
That will be left up to the users and/or administrators to decide. CHAK 001 (talk) 06:53, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
No, really, it's true. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:01, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Chak, I still don't understand--what's wrong with the many different forms of dispute resolution and disruption management that we already have? I'm highly suspicious of any attempt to make a segregated area that 1) isn't widely known and 2) only allows certain types of users to participate. Others have done this before (I remember someone once duplicated WP:WQA, but only members could rule on supposed incivility), and that was deleted via MfD. It seems like, at best, you're just duplicating what already exists. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:26, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Black sandbox to SPI

I was reluctant in the past because I didn't want to bug them over there as the list contained so many maybes. I wanted to build up a picture of what was going on first. I think that may have been achieved, as the IPs are now in apparently quite distinct groups. Is it ready for SPI? Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:47, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Also, is this TV vandal matter really within purview of sockpuppet investigations? There's no master. Serial vandal? I don't know. I'm just a humble editor. This is admin stuff. Please advise. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:59, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

For the black sandbox, I think you should only archive it temporarily as a precaution (delete it only if the user has not used edited it in a while). My second option is to not have an archive; but delete it after a few weeks; as I believe that keeping it too long when the editor has not edited in a few weeks seems to be a bit too hasty. Not all administrators accept either option, so keep that in mind. CHAK 001 (talk) 06:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I'm sure an admin will guide us in the right direction. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:50, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Anna. I see you fixed my misspelling on the Aichi Atsuta article. Thanks! Buster40004 Talk 03:52, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

My pleasure. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:54, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

With my change of heart, I think we're okay to merge there. Can you take care of it? If not, I can add it to my to do list (probably done within a week or so). Qwyrxian (talk) 07:03, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Sure, I'll do it, probably tomorrow, (while cursing the letter "M" all the while). Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:46, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Copyvio tag

Hey Anna, I noticed you tagged Dimbeswar Neog with {{copyvio}} recently as I just reviewed it at WP:CP. Thanks for reporting it but please don't forget to notify the responsible contributor on their talk page with the template given on the tag. It gives the user a chance to create a temp or verify permission if they have it. Usually the article is re-listed if the contributor isn't notified. Given the history of the article, it appears the contributor saw the tag so I didn't re-list it. I also notified the IP that added the text in question to Henan University although that probably won't be relisted since it was added so long ago. Just wanted to drop you a note, if you have any questions, let me know.--NortyNort (Holla) 14:11, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

My goodness, you're absolutely right. I was certain that I did. But, I see at the creator's talk, and my contribs, that I did not. My apologies. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:22, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
No worries, good on you for identifying the problem.--NortyNort (Holla) 14:25, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
