This is a report on activities for 2013 for Wiki Project Med Foundation.

UCSF outreach

January 7–11th of 2013 Jake Orlowitz and James Heilman spent the week at UCSF giving lectures on the significance of Wikipedia and Medicine and running hands on editing sessions. We had the opportunity to meet with people within program development to discuss the possibility of integrating Wikipedia editing into the curriculum. Further details here

Social media

Wiki Project Med Foundation started a twitter account and facebook page, regularly posting about medical topics, editing tips, and activity updates. The Twitter account has over 300 followers so far. Online at https://twitter.com/WikiProjectMed and https://www.facebook.com/WikiProjectMed.

March outreach

On March 29, Brian Basden went by Georgia State University's Nursing School and The Carter Center to make contacts for potential health content collaborations.

NIH outreach

James Heilman and Lane Raspberry in collaboration with Hilda Bastian from the w:en:National Library of Medicine and Wikimedia DC were involved with three days of discussion, presentations, and hands on editing sessions at the w:en:National Institute of Health from May 27th to May 30th of 2013. Wikimania

Lori Thicke from Translators Without Borders and James Heilman are presenting at Wikimania in Hong Kong in Aug of 2013 about the translation project

A board meeting is also being scheduled during the event.

Cochrane collaboration

Hilda Bastian and James Heilman will be speaking at the Cochrane colloquium about the significance of Wikipedia in Medicine in September of 2013.[2]

CRUK collaboration

Jacob de Wolff assisted Wikimedia UK and Cancer Research UK in the grant application for the Wikimedian-in-Residence at CRUK. Once the grant was succesful he was involved in the recruitment and interviewing of the candidate.
