Liszterine redux

But…that limits it to Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók, Zoltan Kodály, and György Ligeti. :P —  $PЯINGrαgђ  17:57, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there; clearly, this page qualifies for a sppedy delete. I am not sure that I would agree that ANY tagged page also qualifies for blanking, with the possible exception of grossly offensive articles, which this is not. Blanking makes assessment for deletion a slightly more time-consumimg process.--Anthony.bradbury 11:20, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not think that I am criticising you - that was not my intention. Blanking by the tagging editor is not now the usual procedure. I was not aware that it had been so in the past, although I am happy to accept your word that it was so. But not now. Nothing stands still in wikipedia.--Anthony.bradbury 11:25, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Given that you are taking exams in June (best of luck, by the way), I must be about 50 years older than you. I therefore really love the concept of you being behind the times!!--Anthony.bradbury 11:31, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Symbols

Sceptre, could you please stop attaching vote symbols to your comments in deletion discussions? While I'm not questioning the fact that you are aware the xfds aren't votes, an experienced user like you doing it is going to set a bad example for others. Picaroon (Talk) 18:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Alright, thanks for the information. (Also, I'd like to bring to your attention a little problem. The person who uses Will in their signature is User:Wimt. He's been doing it forever. There could be a bit of confusion. I though that you were Wimt, not Sceptre.) Cool Bluetalk to me 12:30, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, and thanks for clearing that up! I'll try to remember that. Good luck editing! Cool Bluetalk to me 12:36, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi Will, thanks for your note about my user page. Glad you like it. :-) SlimVirgin (talk) 08:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't know whether you've noticed the discussion on the talk page of this article about the use of the image Image:Mr. Saxon new trailer.jpg. There seems to be some doubt as to its relevance to this article. The image also seems, according to the history, to have been selected for high quality. There are other issues, such as the lack of a rationale, which makes this point moot. I've tagged it "no rationale" and the image will be speedied in seven days unless one is provided and the tag is removed. I won't post the notification template (please treat this note as full notification). Here's the template for your reference: Template:Missing rationale. --Tony Sidaway 09:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've similarly tagged your other two recently loaded images related to the Human Nature and Blink episodes of Doctor Who and one related to an episode of Scrubs. --Tony Sidaway 09:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the other screen captures you've uploaded recently, I'm particularly concerned at the high quality. You seem to be deliberately striving to upload the best quality pictures you can. While our images tend to be displayed at around 200 or so pixels, your image Image:Evolution of the Daleks.jpg is for instance 640 × 352 pixels, which makes it very attractive for pirating. Would you consider replacing the high quality non-free images you have uploaded with lower quality alternatives in order to conform to our Non-free content criteria? --Tony Sidaway 09:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for dealing with this so promptly. One thing that needs to be done is to remove older, higher quality versions of the images. Could you handle this please? --Tony Sidaway 14:15, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also (and I hope I can say "finally") when writing a rationale please name the episode and explain what it is about the episode that the picture illustrates. I've added a reference to Human Nature (Doctor Who episode) to Image:Human Nature (episode).jpg but that isn't enough because I've no idea what it's supposed to be illustrating. It just looks like a random fat old guy with a mustache standing next to some kind of live-sized dummy or doll to me. --Tony Sidaway 14:26, May 7, 2007 (UTC)
Please see the note on Image talk:Blink (Doctor Who).jpg. --Tony Sidaway 14:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rail route templates

Congratulations on the work you've put in creating the rail route templates for the North of England. There are a couple of templates you might wish to consider using in future:

  • {{BS template}} (usage {{BS template|templatename}}) – Apply to top of talk page of original articles, to inform users where the template can be found.
  • {{UK-railway-routemap}} (usage <noinclude>{{UK-railway-routemap}}</noinclude>) - Apply to route map template to put template into relevant category and also add instructions for use.

By the way, could you consider moving the various icons you have in the top left corner of your user page and this talk page? They fall on top of the navigation links in Classic skin. Thanks – Tivedshambo (talk) 04:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot is broken

When it fixes double redirects, it's not keeping anchors: [1] --NE2 11:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have blocked your bot because it is not functioning correctly as far as I know. It is losing the anchors when repairing the redirect. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:14, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am confused. The article does not meet the requirements for Speedy Deletion. It meets none of the 12 criteria in the 'General' section of the definition, nor does it meet any of the 7 criteria in the 'Articles' section. The subject matter at hand is a 'released to the general public' video game which was an official Vivendi Universal Games authorized sequel to the highly successful Starsiege/Tribes video game series - a fact which in itself "asserts the importance or significance of the subject." As the game was released and played, and people are still playing with even now, the article is relevant in content, and the game is different from both the original Starsiege and the original Tribes series of games and thus warrants it's own article. As such it falls within the scope of WikiProject Video games. The fact that the game design company canceled the project after it's release is as irrelevant as the fact that the Dynamix company became defunct after making Tribes. I think you're better off blocking AznRev (talk · contribs) seeing as he's not getting the message. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 15:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. He has only be told about removing speedy deletion templates. I think that if we explain why the inclusion of non-notable bands is not appropriate he might get the message. I attempted to explain this part on his talk page. If he reacts negatively to this and proceeds to create the article after the protection expires, it might be safe to say "he's not getting the message". But until then, I'll just give him the benefit of the doubt and write this off as simple inexperience. -- tariqabjotu 15:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Monitor new pages ?

Hi, I just found that you marked a bunch of articles of questionable value for deletion. I am user:kaysov and have not been active lately. Would you please tell me how you monitor/discover newly created pages? - Thanks Kaysov 15:32, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hello, fellow British exam-taking Will!

Hey there! Thanks for dropping by :-) I hope our sigs aren't overly confusingly similar - I tried to engineer mine to separate me apart from the probably countless other Wills here. Cheers for clearing up that confusion with Cool Blue though. Plus, of course, good luck in your GCSEs! See you around. Will (aka Wimt) 17:01, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

You tagged a lot of circular redirects for speedy deletion. I don't think they meet any of the speedy deletion criteria, and they are in other users' space, so you should just ignore them. The software ignores double redirects and higher, so they can't hurt anything. C Mummert · talk 02:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know all too well that people do stupid things in their user space. Couldn't you use AWB to blank the pages, or leave a message for the users, instead of tagging them for deletion? Or you could tell your bot to ignore the user namespaces. C Mummert · talk 02:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bots in userspace

Can't you just keep your bot out of my user space? Guettarda 04:14, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

English, please? Guettarda 19:43, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umm...so that's a no, you won't explain in English why there's no way to keep your bot out of my userspace? Guettarda 20:38, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flying the Flag (for You)

Regardding to your request at Wikipedia:Third opinion, the problem seems not yet to have been discussed on the talk page. With reference to Wikipedia:Third opinion#Listing a dispute, I would suggest to do so first, and if necessary bring back the question there. --Tikiwont 11:32, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, another editor has picked it up anyway. --Tikiwont 11:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Accidental deletion

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm not sure how I did it, but it could have been my computer playing up as my browser crashed whilst I was working on the edit. I will try again and hopefully avoid any further glitches. 81.151.153.108 20:59, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Human Nature (episode).jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Human Nature (episode).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 16:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it's fair to delete it. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 18:12, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Votestacking

Sceptre, canvassing is occurring on my RfA (your nomination). It's by User:Zmaj. Inspection of his contributions show that he has not made a single edit since 28 September 2006 and then he returned, just to vote on my RfA.

Then this is how his vote goes:

So today a Wiki-friend calls me and tells me: "our old acquaintance is making an RfA again; since you were so heavily involved before, at least give your opinion now". So here it is, and you could get it from any psychiatrist: a person who fakes his own death cannot be trusted to guide others only a year after the event. --Zmaj 15:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Ceha's contributions also show no edit activity but my RfA solely, although he didn't directly self-confirm that he was invited to vote against me. Both Ceha and Zmaj come from the same part of Europe, and thus there is a possibility that User:Thewanderer (also from the same part of Europe) notified them (I'm going to WP:AGF on this one though).

This is a very severe violation of WP:CANVASS. It reminds me of the past time when users were mass-calling their wiki-friends asking them to oppose me. --PaxEquilibrium 19:53, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will, don't worry. I of course voted at the RfA, right after I noticed it had been set up :-)--Hadžija 20:25, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are those edits counted? (Votestalking has caused my RfA fail before and a similar thing is already starting over here).
I have read Wikipedia's rules thoroughly, and they seem not to cover this specific type of problem. --PaxEquilibrium 20:50, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Special:Contributions/Ante_Perkovic. Indeed.
Do you think I should drop the nomination? I think you see where this is yet again going... lol ;0) --PaxEquilibrium 21:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The_Presence.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:The_Presence.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 22:45, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
