Hi. On this article you deleted the article content when putting up your speedy tag. You were 100% correct that it matched speedy criteria but it's just better for admins if you leave the content and add the tag above what is currently on the page. Thanks, and if you have any questions just ask. gren グレン 09:22, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Signing your comments and test templates

Hi Sceptre, I was monitoring some of the vandals that you reported on WP:VIP (the nintendo vandal is about to be reported to AIV on his next vandalism)...but I noticed that you aren't signing your reports on Vandalism in Progress. Please do this as it gives a visible timestamp to the report. All you have to do is place ~~~~ after your vandal report. There should even be a hotkey icon for it above the edit window (2nd from the right). In addition, it might be an isolated incident but I saw that one of the vandals you listed recently hadn't been given a warning for todays vandalisms. Without at least one recent warning, its harder for an admin to block the vandal unless they have many past blocks and reports.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. :) --Syrthiss 13:21, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I know about the signing, I was just busy with the rapid blanking vandal (below) Sceptre 13:26, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, just wanted to make sure. Thanks! --Syrthiss 13:30, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Emperor

Hi Sceptre!

When you revert vandalism, it is important to check that you are reverting to the last non-vandalized version. Accidents like this can happen if you are not careful. But with that said, a big thank you for your help in getting rid of the graffiti here! Sjakkalle (Check!) 13:22, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comment noted, thanks for the heads up Sceptre 13:26, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

vandal warnings

Please can you time stamp {{subst:test}} warnings (just 4~'s is good). When you don't the next person to warn them doesn't know whether the previous offence was 2min ago or ancient history. Thanks --Doc (?) 22:15, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK, will do from now on Sceptre 22:17, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your mom

What a great heading to leave on someone's talk page, eh? I see you listed Your mom for AfD. However, over at AfD, we think that a Redirect to The dozen The dozens would be more appropriate. I can create that redirect now, but policy says I need your consent. Otherwise, we have to wait five days before closing the AfD discussion. There was formerly a redirect to The dozen, but someone changed it. However, this time, I will protect the redirect so it can only be changed by another admin. Please leave me a message at my talk page or at the AfD discussion for Your mom. Thanks, Johntex\talk 23:14, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't forget

Hi, I've edit-conflicted with you a couple of times now, it looks like we're after the same vandals ;-) Keep up the good work, but please don't forget to timestamp your warnings (with ~~~~)! Thanks, JoanneB 19:46, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Will do (normally forget, and if I do realise, I go back to edit) Sceptre 19:48, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes I am a fan of horse racing. There didn't seem to be much up there, considering so many people go to the races. Wallie 10:52, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Transclusion

I'll take my life into my hands and hit you with the boilerplate. ;-)

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Keep whacking those vandals! Lectonar 14:56, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sceptre. We've both been RC Patrolling this afternoon and I've had cause to warn a couple of vandals you have warned.

I note that you're not using subst: on your warning templates (ie {{subst:test}} rather than just {{subst:test}}).

There are two reasons for always using subst: versions of templates. The first is that an non-subst: template is "drawn" afresh every time someone visits the page. This causes enormous server load and bottlenecks at the test templates. That slows down vandal fighting for everyone.

The other reason is psycological. If a vandal edits his talk page and sees nothing but {{subst:test}}, he'll think it to be an automated warning and therefore easier to ignore. If the vandal edits his talk page and sees the full text of the warning spelt out, it is obviously something more serious.

Please could you use subst: versions of your warnings from now on? Thanks very much for your time! ➨ REDVERS 14:57, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to remember (I like fast messages against anti-vandalism. You also edit conflicted with me as well) Sceptre 14:59, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The "Vandalized" Userbox

Hi, I noticed you recently changed the colors of the "Vandalized" userbox. Personally I liked it better in red, so I may change it back (unless you really really want it in yellow). Post on my talk page if you have any comments! — TheKMantalk 02:55, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sceptre, I wrote the text while I was sitting here at the computer. What text in particular do you feel is a copyright violation? If you're talking about the odd sequence of copy/paste edits, I'm rather new to Wikipedia and unfamiliar with the mechanics of the editing system. --Anon, 18.somethinerother

Here. Have a Barnstar.

I, Erath award this Barnstar to Sceptre for laboriously filling in completion dates for the UK motorway routeboxes. Good work!
Thanks for the Barnstar. No big deal fro the motorway boxes

Hi. Saw you reverting my recategorizations. Category:isotopes needs some subcategories, such as Category:Isotopes of hydrogen and Category:Isotopes of carbon. The corresponding articles already axist, so I made the subcats. Karol 11:01, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Club World Championship

Here in Brazil, CWC and Intercontinental Cup are considered the same championship. You can read in every newspaper and media that Sao Paulo FC is THREE TIMES CHAMPION. You can also check the Portuguese version of Wikipedia, which put 1992, 1993 and 2005 championships on the same category.

Technically, I'm right, as the CWC is for the best team from each confederation in a knock-out tournament, while the Intercontinental Cup was the best two teams in the world. But I can see your point of view. And I think it might be the newspapers getting too cocky if it said that today, the match didn't end until 8am Brazilian time. Hi, Will! Did you intend to cast a "support" vote, or are you supporting Freestylefrappe's "oppose" vote (actually located above yours)? —Lifeisunfair 15:58, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Support, because of fsf's remark Sceptre (Talk) 17:01, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

change of template colour

Hi, i noticed you changed the colour of {{user uk wikipedian}} for gold to yellow... is there any particular reason for doing this? Gold was chosen as, along with navy blue, it is the principal colour of the Royal Coat of Arms that unites the UK... yellow isn't quite gold! File:Anglo-indian.jpg Deano 17:29, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of Latin Phrases

Why did you add Image:Example.jpg to the List of Latin Phrases? Michael L. Kaufman 19:25, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I did? The mouse I was using was being a bit jumpy, so I did it by mistake Sceptre (Talk) 19:27, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a vandal

Recently you have reverted some changes that I had made. I feel that I am being victimised as the changes I was making were in fact truthful changes. A "contribution" to the page was made by a certain person trying to tarnish the reputation of the particularly mentioned place, I was simply trying to remove this "testimony" and put the page back to normal, yet you have reverted me and I would like an explanation as soon as possible.

It's the "Head Gay" part. I'm not one to like obscenties like that. If you can prove that there is a Head Gay at LGS, all power to you, and restore it, with note Sceptre (Talk) 20:45, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
