Marketing Research

Thanks for your comments on the Marketing Research Talk Page.

I am afraid that I cannot add this to the page because an over-zealous editor has decided that he or she does not like the way that I write, and deletes any new content that I add. I posted this on the page, in the hope that another editor might be brave enough to write it up. All the information is accurate, and as you can see it is more than adequately sourced. I compiled this information from a collection of journal articles, texts, conference papers and the AMA website.

Many of the marketing pages are desperately in need of overhaul. I have restructured the following pages: consumer behaviour, brand awareness and market segmentation. I was planning to have a go at target markets and marketing, when I had the unfortunate encounter with the heavy-handed editor who began reverting my recently added content, and was unable or unwilling to provide adequate reasons. I decided that it was not worth my while adding content to pages, but seized on the idea of putting it on the talk page in the hope that another editor would run with it.

I am a semi-retired marketing professional with more than 40 years experience in industry and in marketing education. I have the skills and experience to do this type of work; it interests me and I have enough spare time to devote to it. Regards BronHiggs (talk) 07:15, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

BronHiggs Thanks for sharing.
I would like to find the support you need so that you have space to do as you propose.
I checked the history log of Marketing Research and do not see your name there as an editor. I am not sure of whom you speak or I might arrange for another opinion.
To attempt to help a little, I contacted one person with whom you had an exchange and posted for support on a mentor board for you. My intent was to provide a way for more welcome for you. I regret that I myself am unable to support you directly but indirectly I could refer you to the various available help services. Otherwise, it is very useful to get information like you are sharing to talk pages, although as you said, that is much more effective when there is a plan to get that content off the talk pages and into articles without delay. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:47, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

User:Bluerasberry Thanks for trying to help out. There are many things about Wikipedia that I still don't understand. I still don't really know why my content on the Marketing page was challenged. At this stage, I have only made substantive contributions to the pages on 'Consumer Behaviour', 'Brand Awareness' and 'Market Segmentation', but I have posted suggestions for restructuring several other pages including 'Target Market' and 'History of Marketing' in the Talk section. In any case, thanks again for being so supportive. Regards BronHiggs (talk) 09:14, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Bluerasberry On a noticeboard somewhere, you recently added a request for a mentor to work with me. I thank you for making the effort on my behalf and for showing me such kindness, but ask you to please cancel the mentor request. I am afraid that I can no longer continue with Wikipedia. I am finding the environment highly toxic and very stressful. I have concluded that it is not in my best interests to do this type of work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BronHiggs (talkcontribs) 12:30, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Uploading images

Hi Lane, I hope everything is going well! I've mostly pivoted from editing medical articles to bioinformatics (which are of surprisingly low quality). New Page Review needs your help

Hi Bluerasberry,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Bluerasberry. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Saturday December 3: Contemporary Chinese Art Edit-a-thon @ Guggenheim

On Saturday December 3, 2016, in conjunction with a global campaign, the Guggenheim will host its fifth Wikipedia edit-a-thon—or, #guggathon—to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of modern and contemporary artists from Greater China. The event will cap off Wikipedia Asian Month, an online campaign dedicated to augmenting Asian content on Wikipedia throughout November.

New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia, and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support. Editors are invited to view the exhibition Tales of Our Time following the event.

The Guggenheim aims to raise awareness of the artists featured in the Tales of Our Time exhibition supported by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, and build on the model of campaigns like the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Women in Architecture, Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa, and Art+Feminism.

DYK review for WikiProject AIDS?

Hey, how are you dude?

I did a bunch of work on the article for Bobbi Campbell this month and put it up for DYK, in the hope it might be listed for World AIDS Day. As the DYK review queue is under water, though, noone's spotted it. Would you mind taking a look at the nomination and seeing if you think it could get added for Thursday? If that's too soon, then 10 December will be the 35th anniversary of his first newspaper column, where he proclaimed himself "KS Poster Boy", so I could put together a hook for that. Feel free to reply here, or by email, Twitter or Facebook, if you prefer :)

Thanks; I hope it isn't too cheeky of me to ask like this! — OwenBlacker (Talk) 22:42, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

OwenBlacker I reviewed it. I know less about getting it in queue for that day. I posted to Wikipedia_talk:Did_you_know#Request_for_post_into_queue_for_holiday. I cannot make promises about the day but I am around to advocate for it. Let's see what happens. Thanks for asking me. This is the kind of content which I like reviewing and I appreciate your thinking of me. Blue Rasberry (talk) 23:56, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Maternal Healthcare System in Texas

Hi BlueRasberry, I am a student enrolled in Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities at Rice University, and I had previously created the Maternal Health in Texas page. I truly appreciate your suggestions and guidance on how to improve the page. After gathering sources more pertinent to specifically "Maternal Health in Texas," I have gone back and made edits. I have changed the name of the article to include the Healthcare System, rather than solely health in Texas, as I understand you saying last time that a few of the topics did not entirely pertain to health. This way, I included a larger discussion of legislation and services provided by the state in general. I also have worked on the neutrality of the article and refrained from combining different data and making conclusions. I would appreciate any additional suggestions and feedback you may have on the article. Thank you! SBanda (talk) 13:23, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

@SBanda: I reviewed this at Talk:Maternal_Healthcare_System_in_Texas#Review_by_bluerasberry. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:50, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi again BlueRasberry, I wanted to thank you for comprehensively reviewing the article, providing detailed feedback, and approving the article. I truly appreciate the time and effort you input in reviewing the article. I have seen the suggestions for improvement, and I will be working on those soon, as well as continuing to add where I can. Thank you once again for your guidance throughout the process. SBanda (talk) 02:05, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Julie Brown - new profile

Thank you for your feedback. I was participating in BBC 100Women edit-a-thon and had not been aware that company citations could not be used. I have amended with third party sources. Can announcements from the London Stock Exchange or Nasdaq be used as citations? Although these are third party sources, the announcements are issued on the company's behalf but are subject to a very high degree of verification. I have avoided using these announcements for now. However it would be helpful to understand as I would like to do further business related edits. Spring Chicken (talk) 16:19, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Spring Chicken You can feel like a spring chicken for as long as you like, but Wikipedia wise, you are not a spring chicken anymore! "420" collaboration

Hey, not sure if you'd be interested in contributing personally or not, but some WikiProject Cannabis members are organizing a 420 collaboration in April. I know some people hear 'cannabis' and immediately envision lazy stoners, but I'd like to get as much community buy-in for this collaboration as possible so we can improve many Wikipedia articles. My hope is that you and Wiki Project Med will support our efforts, especially by improving articles related to medical marijuana and health. I'll be pinging other Wiki Project Med board members and participants for help, too, but just wanted to give you a heads up. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:03, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
