Photo additions and credits in Wikipedia artilcles

Thanks for your feedback, you raise an important issue relating to the Obesity in the United Kingdom article page. Adding an image to article has many benefits, but I take your concern about the willingness or not of photo subjects to be pictured in this way. Is is really any better that this image is freely available on Wikimedia Commons and has been used in many other contexts? Aw1805 (talk) 02:54, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

I am not aware of any image. The image you selected was provided by a public figure for social commentary and used in many publications. It is the kind of image which Wikipedia seeks because it is so popular in mainstream media. You were diligent in selecting an image which has been repeatedly used by outside authorities for years for the same purpose you are using it here.

Hi! I just saw your Jan. 2016 message to Talk:Leelee Sobieski. I'm concerned about this as well, as the article is still reporting that Sobieski and Matthew Davis were married. I think we need to call in an Admin on this to gauge what to do next – any ideas which Admin would be good for consultation on this? IJBall This is not a role I would imagine for an admin. Admins can close discussions, but are not called as admins to start them. I think the first step would be to solicit comments from non-admins, then only call an admin if there is a discussion which needs to be guided to an end.

Sunday June 5: Women in Jewish History Edit-a-thon

Sunday June 5, 12-5pm: Women in Jewish History Edit-a-thon

Join us for a full Sunday of social Wikipedia editing at the Center for Jewish History (drop-in any time!), during which we will create, update, and improve Wikipedia articles pertaining to Women in Jewish History.

All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required.

Expanding coverage of Jewish women on Wikipedia makes these women and their creations discoverable, addresses the gender bias on Wikipedia in a positive way, and works to correct imbalances archival collecting practice and institutional projects that have historically silenced women's narratives.

A training session on editing Wikipedia will be held at 12:30 pm. Experienced Wikipedians will be on-hand to assist throughout the day. Please bring your laptop and power cord; we will have library resources, WiFi, and a list of suggested topics on hand.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Make edits! Ask questions! Be bold!

STDCheck Citations

Thanks for the quick work on the citation on [Transmitted Infection]. I've noticed this offender doing this repeatedly. What's the best way to clean this up? Should I do what I did?

@Dallasguy214: There is no need to apologize, especially for being new. You did the right thing.

I happened to be watching, but in the future, the quickest and best answers are often at WikiProjects. In the case of anything health related, ask at WikiProject Medicine.

For this issue I went to Special:LinkSearch and searched for "stdcheck.com", which was the website in the link. (There is no way for new users to know about these things - there are lots of these tools, and to find them, just describe an issue in a public forum and someone will tell you if a tool exists.) It seems from that search that this website is not linked anywhere else, so if it is just used once, that seems to not be promotion or any problem. I did not investigate further - without further evidence I might assume this is just an honest mistake.

This particular link has been in place for some months, according to the article history. I might search deeper but I did not see who added this, so do not know who the offender is. Do you have more information? If you have something more to share, either about this or any other topic relating to medicine, consider posting to WikiProject Medicine. It is a more public forum. @Bluerasberry: Perhaps "repeatedly" was a poor choice of words. I went to a backlink tool after I found the initial and it found backlinks from two Wikipedia pages: Sex Education and History of Condoms. The citation on Sex Education should probably stay, since the original source (from which STDCheck.com also plagiarized) is no longer available at its original location. However, their citation on History of Condoms is the same thing we saw on Sexually Transmitted Infections. They plagiarized the source material from this page.

@Dallasguy214: Thanks - I will signal WikiProject Medicine about this. I apologize for Wikipedia's confusing discussion system. The software is from the late 90s/early 00s so it is not intuitive, and no one will expect any new user (or even older user) to make it work. I get your message without the code. @Bluerasberry:I'm really enjoying this kind of "search and destroy" link spam effort. I'd love to keep it up. Am I able to edit the reflist to eliminate these types of links myself? Also, it sounds like the Special:LinkSearch tool didn't work in this instance. If it's typically effective in tracking down other bad citations, I'd love to leverage it. Any idea why it didn't work this time?

Changing a Typo in the Title

First off thanks for the introductions and offers of help, it can be challenging to start editing on Wikipedia.

I did have a question about an article I created the IBM System 360 Model 91

The title is actually supposed to be IBM System/360 Model 91, the same as the rest of the system/360's.

Is there a way to change that after the article has been published?

Bluerasberry, if you have no intention of doing a full review of this GA nomination, then you should not have opened the review. The Good Article instructions are very clear on this point.

You are welcome to make comments on the article talk page, and you are also welcome to make comments once an actual reviewer comes along. These are the two best ways if a review hasn't yet been opened; commenting on the talk page before the review starts can help nominators address problems ahead of time.

Unfortunately, we have to clean this up: no other reviewer will touch the review in the state you've left it. One idea: we can copy the comments you made onto the article talk page, and delete the review page so a new reviewer can start afresh. Another idea: you can complete a full GA review of the article. (You seemed not to want to do this, however.)

Please let me know how you'd like to proceed. If it isn't one of the above ways, it may not be a viable option for the GA process, but I'm sure we can find a way that will work. Thanks for your interest in the GA process. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:42, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

BlueMoonset I do not have intention of doing more at this time. Feel free to do whatever you think is best. It was my intent to post my comment to the review. If there is a way to post that comment to the GA review page then I wish it could be done. If there were a path for me to post a community comment on the review page then I would take that option, but otherwise, I am not sure what to do. At this time I am not interested in either directing the comment to any purpose other than criticism for the GA review or in doing more review. Thoughts? The thing is, a nomination is not a review. So if your intent was to post your comment to a review, you didn't do that: you instead started your own review. In future, just post a comment to the article's talk page; I'm going to move your comment there in a few minutes, and once that is done, request a speedy deletion of the review you started.
