Adding defined daily dose to the drugbox

I am gradually working on a drugbox update. I have switched the ordering of a few things. I have also added "defined_daily_dose" such as you see at metoprolol. Wondering if you would be interested in adding this to other drugboxes? Once we have Wikidata working here we can than have a bot do an import of this value and the reference to Wikidata.

Have also created a need template to hold the identifiers at the bottom of the page {{Drug resources}}. Have done the move in two articles cephalexin and metoprolol. Plan to move them in all the articles. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 09:10, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

ok, was going to do 'dosages' (as was mentioned yesterday on your talk/page from MSF source), however I can do the DDD move first, Ozzie ….(can do 'identifiers' either before or after aforementioned dosages)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:55, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
I am going to see if I can get a user script to help us with the "identifiers" move. So lets leave that for a bit later :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 10:50, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
By the way in my opinion it would be good to have the defined daily dose both in the infobox and in the body of the text. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 10:52, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
ok will leave text and add to infobox (will leave vaccines out of infobox)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 18:20, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Another good source for DDD https://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/?code=N05AX08 Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:25, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

looks better than the other sources (if it has the same info)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 21:29, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
It is interesting. The DDD can be different depending on the route the medication is given. For example here it is for clarithromycin https://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/?code=J01FA09 Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:29, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
would it be wise to go back and place the DDD (available info from the different sources we have ) for each route of administration?--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 00:57, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
I have done some. Yah a good idea to update eventually and include the route aswell. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:09, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
This one was interested for example[2] The WHO is definitely a more comprehensive source Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:20, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
going forward will include route of administration(and then go back and add to prior articles), Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 22:55, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Perfect. I am also going through and updating a bunch :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 03:15, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

The other reference also misses some. Here is fentanyl at WHO https://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/?code=N02AB03

So adjusted to [3] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 07:14, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

I have finished most of that column :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:22, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
ok, that being the case will begin other drugs/procedure per the WHO source (and then go back to 'essential meds' using WHO...it'll be tedious however IMP source[4] is not complete)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 13:32, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
By the way when WHO uses Mg they actually mean mg. Mg is used as a different amount by chemists I think. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:21, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
lower case letters then, thanks James--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 15:17, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
We must be getting close to finishing the adding of DDDs correct? Just got back from a bike trip and back to work here :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:33, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
yes, we're close (wish WHO would have been our first choice)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:37, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Yah apologies about that... Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:50, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

Images/commons

So when images are just hosted on Wikipedia and not on Commons they will not work here. So what I have been doing is moving the images from EN WP to Commons (when that is possible). Such as here[5]

Takes a bit of time after the move for things to work. Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:14, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Simplification/word origin

I am think it would be good to switch from using the term "etymology" to "word origin". Thoughts?

We have a lot of headings that use that term https://mdwiki.org/w/index.php?search=Etymology&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go

Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:34, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

And would fit under the history heading generally as it is the history of the term itself. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:35, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Doc James, going forward will use 'word origin' (as it seems better fit) and seems reasonable to place under History section, Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 17:54, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
I am having Ibrahim look at building a "find and replace" tool to work across all articles in the wiki which would make this change simpler :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:06, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
it would be a good idea, however Ill keep an eye on changing any 'word origin' I come across (BTW good to see Whispyhistory editing)Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:23, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Costs of medications/commons

I have added one here Clindamycin#Cost

We also have graphs of the number of prescriptions.

Thanks for adding all the graphs on prices and number of prescriptions. I have moved them to the section on "society and culture". Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 11:03, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
still have a few to go, I had placed higher on page for more visibility, will move down to 'society and culture' going forward[9]--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:50, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

I reverted this import as it removed a bunch of improvements made here

https://mdwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Paracetamol&action=history

We just need to be careful about importing pages that are already here. Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:50, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Local images/NCCommons

Hi, I see you're recently active. Could you do me a favour and take a look at File:Severe acne of forehead (DermNet NZ acne-055).jpg?

This is a project to mass upload from DermNet here, rather than Commons due to licensing. It'll effectively be a case book for a NCCommons. I'm no Lua wizard, so we could do with one to fix up the image templates and license that are missing; unless I just go for using plain text rather than templates on these.

Thanks -- (talk) 13:32, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

unfortunately Im not a lua wizard myself, obviously it'd be in our best interest to fix these...RexxS[10](if Im not mistaken does know 'computer/image stuff') is always glad to help--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:01, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. It may take a while for this to work out, so the uploads are running without relying on the Information template. If we need to, it can be redone with some local housekeeping as the metadata is all there. For the record a project page is at User:Fæ/DermNet.
Sent Rexx an email, he may enjoy fiddling with the setup, or indeed hopefully find it trivial. -- (talk) 19:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Like acyclovir "| breastfeeding = Safe" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK501195/

We have the excellent collection of NC licensed skin condition images uploaded to NCCommons here.

Would be great to have a gallery of like 3 or 4 of the best images in each skin related article. Thoughts? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 01:18, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Doc James excellent, soon we'll have the rest of the articles here (once we figure out the forking mechanism)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 13:02, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Forking mechanism should be in place in a few days :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 11:29, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Okay so forking is going to take more work than I hoped to get functioning smoothly. What you can do now is create a page in user space, than you can move it into main space, than you can import the history of the page. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 05:59, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
Doc James no problem it happens, still have a few articles I can do here(will therefore implement above process sooner than later)...BTW I had a feeling 'forking' was not going to be easy...(on a side note James Ive known you for some time, your always pushing yourself to do more and help more people, remember your human/take things easy you cant be everywhere, BTWwe still made the top 3  :-)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:09, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

CT images/radiopeadia

With respect to CT imaging, we need to find the image that shows the issue in question. I hope to eventually get built a viewer like here so we can group the whole set together. And maybe add an arrow or two for the non radiologist :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 07:30, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

right many of the images in Mastoiditis or Carotid artery dissection would benefit from an arrow to clarify image(however the gallery at the image batch in question simply labels them [14]hence some are easier to pick than others, as being a better image)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 13:07, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
Yah we need both an arrow and we need a tool that allows one to view all 150 images in a set. Adjusted to this. Mesenteric_ischemia#Diagnosis Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:42, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Okay tool partly working now... User:Doc James/Test. Still need to think a bit more about how to MESH these into articles though. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:06, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey Ozzie :-) Have moved it to a subpage with a click to link. This will allow people to than see a larger scrollable version. Also this is pushing the underlying software fairly hard. Will need to address some of these performance issues before we can use a lot of these... Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
ok, still its a great idea on your part--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 13:34, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
I need to get the scroll speed slowed down. Also need a tool that will do the same crop on all images within a set built for NC Commons... We will get there. Just not sure we are ready for widespread roll out yet :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:37, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
well, I'll help if you want,Im not great at tech stuff --Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 13:43, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Maybe best to work on adding more of the derm images for now. Once we get this a little further along than we can return to add CT scans. I hope to get Fae to put all the images within a CT together as a group using a bot so less work to add when we are ready. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:52, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Images/Cryptococcosis

thanks.....what usually happens is we do....
| image_size1a=200px
| image_size1b=270px (bigger if needed)
however it doesnt seem to work on that image as (in theory) since both images are separate you just need to identify the image size for each...will take a look at other image (double box) and see if that article can be adjusted, Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:27, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Thank you... I have some in my sandbox if you have any suggestions. Whispyhistory (talk) 15:38, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Template:Photo montage seems to be the template for that image and it doesnt offer the flexibility of image_size1...(as indicated above) it may be worth using a different 'multiple image template'[20]..IMO(not certain why the images dont agree in size for Cryptococcosis)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 21:00, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Has these strange "section begin" takes. Wondering what they are for? They do not appear to be working her so removed... Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:44, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

If they are important we could look at trying to figure out how to get them to work... Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:47, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Doc James, to be frank (and thats from Western African Ebola virus epidemic) at this point that Ebola episode has long passed, therefore we can workout the text however you believe best (I dont even really remember how those 'section begins' works), Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 20:58, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Okay :-) I wonder if it has something to do with how people set up blocks of text to share between various pages... Pacing

Failure of pacemaker capture as a result of flecainide increasing the capture threshold resulting in an idioventricular rhythm of 43 beats per minute

Hey Ozzie This image comes as a pair from my reading. The use of flecainide is not causing the arrhythmia but is being used to improve capture of the pacemaker if one looks at the second image. I wonder if this would be better at the article on pacemakers? [40] Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:39, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

En.Video-Post-Ebola virus syndrome

So have compiled the video and uploaded it to Commons[46]...

It is not yet possible to use images from NC Commons.[47]

Since that image is CC BY 4.0 would recommend you upload it to Commons and than it will work.

Hey Ozzie... This image is a little tangential to the topic in question. Midaz is used for 100s of different procedures. Not sure showing this one adds much? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:26, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
