Merge virus article into disease article, as per Rift Valley fever virus? Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 11:27, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A fairer comparison would be that hantaviruses have their own articles, but the two diseases typically caused by hantaviruses (Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome and Hantavirus hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome) have their articles as well so the diseases can be discussed in greater detail. Dividing viruses from the diseases they cause is a general rule of thumb on WP because the virus article can be allowed to go in depth with respect to its structure, tropism, replication cycle, evolution, et al., while the disease article can focus more on symptoms, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention. This difference can be easily observed in the HIV and HIV/AIDS articles. While SFTS and SFTS virus aren't modeled this way yet (SFTS has info on the evolution of the virus, for example), I believe they can be developed to do so since they are new. With that being said, I am removing the merge templates. ComfyKem (talk) 10:18, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Say year, not "recently"

…an emerging infectious disease recently discovered in northeast…

Recent for you, not for me. Jidanni (talk) 14:26, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
