Hi Samuel Curtis, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 18:54, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

Regarding spelling of "Mori" on Talk:Case Closed

"By WP:MOS-JP, both forms are incorrect; it should be Mōri. Samuel Curtis 07:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)"[reply]

Not true - According to the MOS, "official naming" goes before the macronned form. VIZ Media romanizes her original name as "Ran Mori" WhisperToMe 18:40, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Case Closed RfC

It's getting dirty? Anyway, I won't mind an RFC on the naming convention, though I'm surprised one isn't there already. WhisperToMe 16:59, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: Oh, the RFC is here User:Samuel Curtis/Case Closed RfC WhisperToMe 17:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May I tweak the description of the RFC by adding:

  • The UK manga is published by Gollancz Manga
  • I know of no other English-language editions
  • The Latin American Spanish dub uses a new set of dub names, while the Spain dub and other known dubs use the Japanese names.

WhisperToMe 20:27, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the first and the third point seemed redundent; the second can be added. You may add it now since appreantly no-one has commented on this RfC yet. Samuel Curtis 02:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disambiguated the Soka universities

Please check my response to your discussion point on the Soka talk page, let me know if my changes work for you. I actually made the change and then read your comment suggesting approximately the same thing. --I think it works ;-) --Bobak 19:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Risperidone were deleted

It appears your careful edits to Risperidone were completely deleted. [1] on 2 November 2006 by User:195.93.21.70. I am hesitant to restore them, but I hope you can do so. JimmB 04:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's okay, I changed the policy that is completely anti-anti-psychiatrist. Since the original edit was with a anti-psychiatrist intention, it'd be better deleted. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 04:26, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • HEY! You reverted my reversion of an apparent accidental deletion, leaving an incomplete sentence:
Risperidone is metabolised fairly quickly so this potential for <truncated>
Someone else fixed it again.
Also, As a lay person, the SAFETY RISKS and WARNINGS sections (which were deleted) are valuable! I wish you would put them back in some form. JimmB 19:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:ROKR E6.png

Thanks for uploading Image:ROKR E6.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 22:25, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help in Japanese readings

{{helpme}} The case here is I am confronted with a controversial content addition, in which the editor who added it said it can fulfill WP:V requirements by merit of Japanese material. However, I don't know Japanese, and I can't verify its veracity, and no-one from the article's discussion offered help. What should I do? --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 14:23, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Samuel, if the article is on a Japanese topic, is there a previous contributor to the article that might be able to help? If not you could try users in Category:User ja (specifically the more advanced ones), users at Wikipedia:Translators available#Japanese-to-English or possibly someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. Hope that helps, mattbr30 15:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

history merge

If you are so intent on applying the {{db-histmerge}} on Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi, at least apply it to the right page. The page that currently is a redirect (Abdalqadir as-Sufi al-Murabit) is the correct title, not where it is currently located. Your application of the template is therefore confusing and should be avoided. But I'll just wash my hands in innocence (seems appropriate for this time of year). Orphaned non-free image (Image:Case-Closed-the-Phantom-of-Baker-Street.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Case-Closed-the-Phantom-of-Baker-Street.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:51, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You make a good point. The last I herd Supervalu had won an temporary restraining order against Grocery Outlet, though technically the two companies are still in court.

Fair use rationale for Image:Taco Bell-China-Logo.png

George Foreman Grill

The George Foreman Grill popular culture list is longer then the article about the product itself. the "in popular culture" section of the list just encourages people to contribute bulleted tangential entries that do not contribute to a better understanding about the main article. If anything, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=george+foreman+grill+site%3Alivejournal.com says more about the grill in popular culture then a list cartoons, movies and comics that mention the grill. Templates to Transwiki

Scrolling through a whatlinkshere for a template, I came across your subpage User:Samuel Curtis/List of Templates to Transwiki. It's funny that you have those listed, as I've recently had to transwiki (and slightly adapt) many of those same templates on Digimon Wiki. If you're having any problems with the templates not working on another wiki, it could be due to templates that mix wikitable code with html table code. I'm also thinking of making a page that will list commonly used templates that other wikis might want to take from; a sort of template toolbox for those just starting up. If you have any ideas about such things, I'd love to hear them :D -- Ned Scott

Develop the page of Havana-Club

Hi,

I have tried to ask on the discussion page of Havana-Club if there was a way to develop the content according to its new website www.havana-club.com : "Hi, I am working for Havana-Club and I would like to know if it is possible to develop this section. Havana has built a website www.havana-club.com discussing on cocktails, rum making process... Is that possible to create some article in this page telling for exemple that Havana recommand / suggest to make Mojito or Daiquiri cocktail in a special way (explain what ingredients to use...), that havana make its rum with in particulalry way...?"

Do you think it is possible to make some change or it is impossible?

Leads

Just a quick note on leads. You may want to read WP:LEAD and check WP:MOS-AM to get a better idea of the sort of things that go in the lead. The lead should be a summary of the article, so anything added to the lead should be supported by the article itself, except of course for the title. You might also find it helpful to look at some other series articles to get an idea of a well formed lead. Fullmetal Alchemist, Tokyo Mew Mew, and Wolf's Rain all have good leads that might help you get ideas. Just make sure any new additions are sourced in the article (or, you can source in the lead for later incorporation in the article if it would fit somewhere). Hope that helps. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:30, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm hoping you could find a way to boast the article List of Case Closed episodes (season 1) to a B rank somehow. I'm out of ideals on what to do for it. DragonZero (talk) 22:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, a heavily reffed character article I believe is better than one that is not. Especially since most of the info that often appears in character articles is cruft, and can be removed. We're not trying to inform people what Konata ate in episode 17, and why it was significant because it was only shown once, or which outfit Kagami may have worn in manga chapter 34 because it was notably more stylish than her normal clothes (I just made both of these up). So, just focus on what is essential for a character. On the second point, it's not hard to write notable differences between the anime and manga, like differences that may cause confusion if someone is unsure whether you're talking about the anime or manga. Meaning we don't have to cite differences in hair accessories that Kagami wears between the anime and manga, but differences that reflect base differences between the personality of a character between media may be fitting to include, such as if a character from the manga showed to be more developed in later manga chapters that were not shown in the anime, or a character that appeared underdeveloped in the anime because the animators didn't have enough time to fully develop their characters for any number of reasons. Taking into account the featured anime/manga character lists, and asking those who worked on such lists, would also be recommended.-- 06:27, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:TH Democrat Party logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Hi Samuel! As I can see, you started this article 2 years ago. Could you tell me the source of this sentence, please: After more than 10 years of legal struggles between the parties, on August 8, 2006, 5 days after the Cuban version of the trade mark was denied renewal (in the United States), Bacardi released their own version of Havana Club (produced in Puerto Rico). If you want to further improve the English article, you will find a lot of useful sources there, most are in English. --Knut.C (talk) 22:45, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help regarding re-opening RMs

Are there any rules against opening an RM right after an RM has been closed for lacking consensus, provided no new information is provided for consideration? If so, how should I deal with the user concerned?--Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 12:29, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, you should wait a few weeks before reopening, especially if you made the last request. If you have clear sources showing it should be updated, then opening a new one is generally ok. --Mdann52talk to me! 19:58, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
