Fix your bot

"Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of May 2024."

Why did you post this on my page when I had 114 edits in the past 60 months? My activity levels are in-policy, and yet you're threatening me with desysopping if I don't "return to the required activity level". You either need to fix your bot to only harass people who are out of policy, or fix your bot to use language that does not misrepresent the situation. Hesperian 10:53, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

The bot is working as intended. It is the 60-month period ending 2024-05-01T00:00:00, i.e., 57 months before you received the notice. During that period you had 99 edits until you edited today. The template language was agreed upon with the Bureaucrats at BN. — JJMC89 22:24, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Very bad move

  1. "Category:Early photographers in Palestine" had a very precise raison d'etre: Palestine is now a politically highly charged concept. Pre-Israel by far less so. There is no way in hell to get consensus on what constitutes Palestine after 1948. Plus, since 1948 and especially in the last 60 years, every tourist in Jerusalem and for sure any journalist is a photographer: the "early" vocable is needed and was very well thought through! Now this turns into a useless, because huge, bottomless mega-category. Bad.
  2. "Palestine region", apart from becoming too vague once applied to current realities, includes several modern states and territories with their very divergent own reality re. photography: firstly, Israel, a news magnet etc. and with a mature and specific photo art scene. The Palestinian territories with a very different reality. Western Jordan - same. Southern Lebanon - same. No way to treat them together. As I kept on saying: the "Palestine (region)" syntagm is only useful on Wiki for calming down the crusaders of the Israel-Palestine conflict. In any reasonable context it complicates things, rather than being helpful.
  3. The discussion was at least balanced, if not outright in favour of KEEP. What gave anyone the authority to move?

Arminden (talk) 15:00, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

I didn't move it. My bot moved it as instructed by another administrator. Please see the notice at the top of this page for the appropriate person to discuss the issue with. — JJMC89 17:58, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

Ezzatollah Siamak under fair use

User:JJMC89 bot just yesterday I received a message from User:B-bot that I can re-insert a picture of Ezzatollah Siamak under fair use conditions. This picture concerns a person who has died in 19 October 1954 and should really fall into Public ownership but in Farsi wiki is currently used under fair use. In any case, there are no other images available and this image in every way fulfills all requirements for fair use. Be kind and reassess the situation and before the one-week time limit expires, reinsert that picture. Thanks in advance. Arbabi second (talk) 10:40, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

ACC inquiry

Hi JJMC89! I don't know whether this wing of administration is any active but I saw your name on the list of ACC admins and noticed you've been active. I'd like to ask about whether you received my email to enwiki-acc-admins@googlegroups.com and what your thoughts are. Greetings, NotAGenious (talk) 16:21, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

We did receive your email. I haven't reviewed your request, so I don't have an opinion yet. You are on the list with at least four others that the ACC admin team needs to review. — JJMC89 01:11, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for letting me know! NotAGenious (talk) 08:47, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Robert McCall Article Artwork

For the Robert McCall article, the file gives the following copyright description for McCall's artwork in the 2001: Space Odyssey poster:

...the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted.

File:2001 A Space Odyssey (1968).png

The artwork is necessary to point out his array of genres, and a verbal description would not suffice.

I ask that the image delete can be undone. Starlighsky (talk) 22:57, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

Nothing you've said is relevant to the reason that the file was removed from the McCall article. — JJMC89 01:12, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
The file says it most likely owned by either the creator, Robert McCall, or the publisher.
He created movie posters as well space art.
The movies posters, especially 2001: Space Odyssey convey the spectrum of his artwork. Starlighsky (talk) 01:58, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
That has nothing to do with why it was removed. — JJMC89 02:00, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Why was it removed, then? Starlighsky (talk) 02:52, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
That was specified, very clearly, in the edit summary. — JJMC89 02:56, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
It says the following, but McCall is the creator of the artwork. I give up.
Removed WP:NFCC violation(s). No valid non-free use rationale for this page. Starlighsky (talk) 03:04, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Starlighsky, see item #10 at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline has more details. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:23, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
The problem is the gallery of image limits the visual representation of the artist to on only one genre. Starlighsky (talk) 21:33, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
The reason that the image was removed from the page is a technical one, not an editorial judgement. You have a technical hoop to jump through, which is to follow the instructions at the links I provided. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:31, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
I completely understand. I mentioned it in case others may want to be involved in working on this. The artist also did production illustration for major films. Starlighsky (talk) 23:04, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Murderers for life insurance money

Hi. Your bot appears to be responsible for the removal of the above deleted category from every page that was listed with it. I request a full list of the article names, perhaps the other categories that category was under. Essentially all the related finalizations your bot took care of, if that’s okay to ask and receive. I need to organize the information in the articles for other purposes, specifically I’m working on Fandom and need to tie the criminal cases to various fiction episodes writing scripts inspired by the crimes. ContributingHelperOnTheSide (talk) 18:14, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

You can get the pages that were in the category from the bot's contributions. The parent categories were Category:Murderers, Category:Life insurance, Category:Fraudsters, and Category:Insurance fraud. — JJMC89 08:23, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Pointer for how to create a replacement NATO Command Structure file

I have been told the file you're CSD F7-ing is easily able to be replicated, (and that is the basis of CSD F7). I have, however, no clue about how to replicate it. Is there help available for such things? Or what software package etc? Much appreciate any pointers. Kind regards, Buckshot06 (talk) 07:41, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

I don't know what would be easiest to do it with. I suggest asking over at Wikipedia:Graphics Lab. — JJMC89 08:26, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Inactive intadmins

Hello friend. The intadmin inactivity requirement increased from 6 months to 12 months today due to an RFC. I think your bot is usually the one that posts the inactivity list at WP:IANB, correct? At you convenience, may want to adjust your bot's code. Hope this helps. –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:55, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. Code update and deployed. — JJMC89 05:48, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
