Just letting you know about WP:MCQ#Removing image from national team page due to WP:NFC#UUI#17 as a courtesy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:26, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Thx

Thank you for removing the picture of Skye Sweetnam Single Human LowerAndSlower (talk) 22:52, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

District FM

This page was recently deleted and I'm letting you know I have submitted another draft article for revisionInnocentuzo (talk) 17:34, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Non-free images used in Tots Tolentino articles

If you don't mind, I will restore the images later. Yes, I realize that the images are for articles, which, if you will just look at the page, is what it IS. At the moment it is still in draft mode as it is a work in progress, I am a visual person and removing the images kinda messed me up. The images I uploaded are the same images that are used for articles of Tots Tolentino posted online. I hesitated uploading them as "free use" because, despite being used online multiple times, I cannot be 100% sure that they are truly free for use. Until I submit the article for review no one can see the images, anyway, correct? Slvrdlphn (talk) 14:55, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Non-free media is not permitted in drafts, so no you may not restore them. They've been deleted in the meantime. — JJMC89 02:57, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

What is this thing up to

Um, I was doing a bit of rearranging of some article text in my sandbox, and with no notification the bot silently deleted a sound filename - deleted, not just commented out, which would have been reasonable. Look, the bot is meant to Assume Good Faith. Editors doing something constructive do not need materials to be silently chopped out of their sandbox area. Of course I understand non-free usage etc etc, but doing this so rapidly, and totally silently is just not appropriate. If you want a quick fix I suggest you just comment the filename out, so it can readily be reinserted when back in article space. Otherwise editors have to

a) see that something is not working

b) realize it's a missing filename

c) wonder how the b****y h**l the thing disappeared from their own sandbox while they weren't looking

d) realize it was a d*****d bot operating on zombie level -5

e) go back to the history and look for signs of intruder-editing in userspace

f) open the history item and copy the filename

g) paste it back into the sound sample box.

Not too good, eh? I'd say it needs fixed, and jolly quickly.

Many thanks. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:59, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Since you understand non-free usage etc etc, you could simply not add non-free content to your user sandbox because such a thing is not allowed per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:UP#Non-free files. If not adding it to begin with is difficult to do, then you could comment it out or link it instead yourself when you do add it to your sandbox. Doing either of those two things will stop the image from being flagged for review and stop the bot from removing it. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:27, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Daihatsu

What is wrong with using the Daihatsu logo here? Is it only meant to be used at the Daihatsu article and nowhere else?  Mr.choppers | ✎  19:38, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) It's not so much that the logo can only be used in the "Daihatsu" article; it's that the logo's use in the "Automotive industry in Japan" article didn't comply with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. The bot removed the file per WP:NFCCE because it didn't have the separate, specific non-free use rationale required per WP:NFCC#10c and WP:NFC#Implementation for that particular use. However, if the only issue with that particular use was the missing rationale, then JJMC89 or another editor could simply add the missing rationale to the file's page and that would stop the bot from removing the file. In this case, however, there would be pretty much no way to justify the non-free use of any file in that particular image gallery per WP:JUSTONE because such a non-free use would be clearly WP:DECORATIVE and not allowed per WP:NFG and WP:NFCC#8 (WP:NFC#CS). In fact the entire gallery in Automotive industry in Japan#Car Brands probably should be, in my opinion, reconsidered per WP:GALLERY since it's rather undue and adversely affects the overall balance of the article even if does only contain files from Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:38, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: - thank you, very clear and I agree with removing that rather pointless gallery.  Mr.choppers | ✎  20:34, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

CFDW, some Retain jobs not processed

Hi, the "Singaporean people" categories listed at WP:CFDW#Retain are not being processed by your otherwise-excellent bot, presumably because it cannot find the nominations, which are at "Option B" halfway down the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_March_21#Category:Singaporean_people_of_Chinese_descent. Is this something that lends itself to a quick tweak, or shall we just tidy them and tag the talk pages manually? – Fayenatic London 19:28, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Someone took care of them in the meantime. Yea, the bot isn't going to figure out that case in the discussion. When it can't figure it out, the bot needs the result and action on CFDW to process the close, not just "no consensus". — JJMC89 03:00, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Re [1]: ah, thanks… so, "No consensus to merge" would have worked? But the bot did the top one, using the closer's wording on the log page.[2]Fayenatic London 12:49, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, that would have worked. (The proposal does say delete though.) To avoid any errors, the bot has very limited capability to figure out the result and acton (for {{old CfD}}) from the discussion. For the first one, it picked out "containerizing" as the action for Category:Singaporean people of Chinese descent, but didn't find an action for the other categories. (They're outside of the initial nomination.) — JJMC89 02:18, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Deleted file

.You have deleted the photo of the Karamagara Brigde in the List of bridges in Turkey. Why? It is an en-WP file tagged for fair use. (File) Cheers. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:06, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Use in that article does not satisfy our non-free content policy. The specific criteria not satisfied are linked in my edit summaries. — JJMC89 02:29, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Refund

Hello. Could you refund this draft? I'm working on a new draft for this artist and wonder if there is anything good in it. Thanks. --- Possibly (talk) 03:22, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

It is unsourced, so I don't think it will be very helpful. I can if you'd like it still. — JJMC89 02:28, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
@JJMC89: Thanks for looking into it. As you say, no need. I managed to find enough sourcing for Lava Thomas. I don't think I've ever gotten any useful material from requesting a refund of someone else's draft, so maybe that is telling me something. Thanks. --- Possibly (talk) 18:03, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Vandal

Hello! Sorry to bother you, but there's a rather pesky vandal who's wearing out my talk page, and I think most of the admins that normally watch AIV are probably asleep (as I should be!). Can you check out 2001:8003:F10F:FD00:E15D:E2C8:E520:DDA1 please? PohranicniStraze (talk) 07:37, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

@PohranicniStraze: Between Deb and I, it is taken care of. — JJMC89 08:04, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
