AfC Removal

Hey,

Thanks for removing me from the AfC Participants list. I misread my edit count ("917") and didn't fully understand the breakdown to make sure I had the required article edits. I will participate again once I've made the requisite number of edits.

Thank you again!

Comic Book Character Infobox addition help request

Hey so I have a better understanding of how the process works to make that edit to the template happen. So can you help me with that so I can get it approved. Also what exactly did I do wrong again? Fluffyroll11 (talk) 18:47, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

@Fluffyroll11: You need to establish a consensus for the changes you want to be made. (You have been told this by myself and others.) Then you need to implement the changes in the template's sandbox. After the changes have been tested, you can reopen the edit request. — JJMC89 03:28, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Sorry I asked a bunch of people this all at the same time. Sorry I really just wanted to get things moving along as I really want to get this approved and added. Anyways what is your stance on it anyways? and did you want to way in? Fluffyroll11 (talk) 15:08, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
I don't edit in that area, so I'm neutral. I have seen others say that the infoboxes are already bloated. If that is the case, then I would probably lean toward not including relatives. — JJMC89 15:14, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@JJMC89: Only a few are bloated that need to be trimmed but, for the most part they aren't and I believe this is something more worthy to actually be on the info box as opposed to stuff on there already but, still I think this wouldn't make it to bad and could co-exist with the other stuff. Help regarding Conflict of Interest

Respected Sir/Madam, First of all thanks for helping me out. This is the first time I am creating a wiki page that too for a good friend of mine B. Rajasekar. I assure you that I am not getting paid for this. I am trying to post more reference in the article. Please help me to improve the article so that it will get accepted. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, Manommayan (Manommayan (talk) 03:35, 4 August 2016 (UTC))

I noticed this at the alerts for needed help, commenting about this at the user's Draft. SwisterTwister talk 03:44, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks ST. Manommayan, conflict of interest is not just about being paid to write for someone. In your case the subject your are writing about is a good friend. Writing about a subject one is close to makes it hard to maintain a neutral point of view and write in an objective manner. — JJMC89 00:51, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Wording of closure

Please reconsider the wording of the closure "Consensus URL formats" because there was zero discussion about that, only about a long form. The form without the dot and dash works (example), is more concise, easier to work with and mirrors the same 14-digit date code used by other archival sites. There is also the form without the date that also works. We really did not discuss which long format, the RfC was about short vs long. -- GreenC 02:27, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

@Green Cardamom: I have adjusted the wording. I know that form will work but the HTML source contains
<input id="SHARE_LONGLINK" ... value="http://archive.is/YYYY.DD.MM-hhmmss/http://www.example.com"/>
, which is what would be retreived by a bot without modification. — JJMC89 03:33, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

A Barnstar For You!

The Account Creation Barnstar
Your work in WP:ACC is wonderful. I cannot imagine the trouble we would've undergone with the backlog if it was not for you. You mastered the skills pretty quickly and doing a great job. As a token of acknowledgement and appreciation, I give you this barnstar. Happy ACCing! —UY Scuti Talk 03:07, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks UY Scuti! — JJMC89 03:29, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Question for you

Hi there, I see you spend TONS of time on Wikipedia. Like 24/7. How do you block users? There is one user who is really annoying me. Hawkeye75 (talk) 02:17, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

@Hawkeye75: Only administrators can block users. Users do not get blocked for annoying another user. Users get blocked to prevent damage to the encyclopedia and/or violating policy. If a user has violated policy and been appropriately warned, the user can reported at the appropriate noticeboard. — JJMC89 03:19, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
I don't mean block from editing, I mean block from interacting from another user. 03:20, 6 August 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hawkeye75 (talkcontribs)
@Hawkeye75: There needs to be a good reason to stop someone from interacting with you. What is the user doing? (Links would be helpful.) You can ask a user to stop posting on your talk page, and he/she should respect that request. — JJMC89 03:40, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Blacksmith101

Interesting that Blacksmith101 has been reverting you on redirect pages that were recreated by blocked user MrWriter245, specifically We Gon Ride and Body (Dreezy song). clpo13(talk) 17:30, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

@Clpo13: It is. I'm not sure it is MrWriter245 though. MrWriter245 was blocked after Blacksmith101 created his/her account. It is disruptive though since "Body" was redirected per AfD consensus and "We Gon Ride" is a long standing redirect. — JJMC89 17:38, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi JJMC89 - I am sorry, but this page is currently in the midst of an edit war. Four users have so far requested of one other editor to revert to the stable version, but he is not cooperating. I am afraid that your technical edits happened to the currently disputed version; to revert to the stable iteration I also had to undo yours. Sorry - do you use a bot or should I try to restore your edits by hand? Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  21:15, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

No worries, Mr.choppers. Most of the changes were from a script. No need to try to restore them; I can redo them once the article is no longer protected. — JJMC89 02:18, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for sending me the message. However, I re-edited the reason line to add not in the middle of it. No regrets. DBrown SPS (talk) 15:59, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Links

Hello I'm relatively new and not really sure how to add links to pages. I can't seem to find anything to help me. Could you help? ILikeCycling (talk) 21:10, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

@ILikeCycling: What kind of links would you like to add? See Help:Referencing for beginners for citations and Help:Link for linking to other Wikipedia articles. — JJMC89 21:44, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
