Issues

  1. Some of the images you have uploaded have copyright issues such as the one from here [1]
  2. We also have an article on aortic stenosis which is more or less than same as aortic valve stenosis. I have moved your additions to your user page. Would recommend you use them to update the aortic stenosis article. Best

Copyright issues

We can remove the images, no problem Doc James (talk · contribs · email)
If you own the images than you can release them under an open license. We just need to verify that you own them. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 05:13, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia and Wikiproject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia. We have compiled a list of guidance for students and new editors:

  1. Use high quality sources for medical content. This is described at WP:MEDRS. High quality sources include review articles (note this is not the same as peer reviewed), position statements from national and internationally recognized bodies (think CDC, WHO, NICE, FDA, etc), and major medical textbooks. Lower quality sources may be removed.
  2. References go after not before punctuation (see WP:MOS)
  3. We use very few capital letters and very little bolding. Only the first word of a heading is usually capitalized.
  4. Do not use the url from the inside net of your university library. The rest of the world cannot see it.
  5. If you use textbooks we need page numbers.
  6. Please format your references as explained at WP:MEDHOW or like the ones already in the article. This is simple once you get the PMID / ISBN.
  7. Every sentence can be referenced. We reference more densely than other sources.
  8. Never "copy and paste" from sources. We run copy and paste detection software on new edits.
  9. Section order typically follows the instructions here at WP:MEDMOS
  10. Please talk to us. Wikipedia works by collaboration and this takes place on the talk pages of both articles and user.

Again welcome and thank you for joining us.

P.S. Please share this with your fellow learners and instructors.

Issues with your edits

  1. They changed the ordering so it no longer followed WP:MEDMOS
  2. It reduced the lead from 4 paragraphs, not sure why. Please read WP:LEAD
  3. It replaced a 2014 English review with a older review in Polish ( we should use En references generally if possible)
  4. You introduced a section on "etiology" when we already had a section on "causes". The two words mean the same
  5. The picture you added appears to be from here [8]. We are lacking evidence that you own it and therefore are allowed to release it under an open license.
  6. References are not formatted much of the time

This material does not pertain to symptoms "ESC guidelines also suggest that exercise testing either by measuring blood pressure and assessing symptoms during treadmill exercise or “exercise stress echocardiography, may provide prognostic information in asymptomatic severe AS”.[1] As such, physicians should consider these diagnostic tools when faced with patients who they suspect may have asymptomatic severe AS." Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:16, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Me and my friend who is helping me just edit that articles, sorry for not clarifying. Euroarti (talk) 13:36, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have blocked you again as you continue to add copyrighted material to Wikipedia such as

Please advice regarding what you are trying to do? If you own the copyright to this material I can help you with getting it into Wikipedia. Please respond here. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 12:04, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! We're trying to edit the articles to suit more up to date information. I am new to editing so your help would be really appreciated. I see that you are very well-versed in Wikipedia and would like your expertise for us to update the info.Euroarti (talk) 13:15, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Who are you all working with? The concern is that the images you are adding are copyrighted. Do you own the copyright to them?
Also in these edits [11] you took the lead of the article which was based on 2014 sources and replaced them with 2003 and 2006 sounces and a ref from Mount Sinai? Not exactly an update. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:23, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We thought that the images would give the article more life because this is just text. In the future, we'll ensure that any images we select will respect wikipedia image's rule. Could we work with you on the text for editing? Also, could you help us lift the block? Thanks for your help, Euroarti (talk) 13:31, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Who is the "we" you speak of? What text changes do you wish to make? I am happy to discuss and have provided you with some reading material above. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:34, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Ehrahn is my friend helping me but we would edit from only one account from now on if that helps. We just want to edit some sections with more up to date informations, can we edit section by section? Thank you, Euroarti (talk) 13:55, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You each need to use your own account. Sure we can work on some sections. How about this one Aortic_stenosis#Medication It requires work. You can work on it below. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 13:59, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By the way is this a school assignment? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:05, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Medication

The effect of statins on the progression of AS is unclear. The latest trials do not show any benefit in slowing AS progression,[2] but did demonstrate a decrease in ischemic cardiovascular events.[3]

In general, medical therapy has relatively poor efficacy in treating aortic stenosis.[4] However, it may be useful to manage commonly coexisting conditions that correlate with aortic stenosis:

While observational studies demonstrated an association between lowered cholesterol with statins and decreased progression, a randomized clinical trial published in 2005 failed to find any effect on calcific aortic stenosis. A 2007 study did demonstrate a slowing of aortic stenosis with the statin rosuvastatin.[2][7]

No, it's not a school assessment. I agree with you about Aortic_stenosis#Medication section. It will need more work. We were thinking about removing it and add more SUBHEADER under the Management's HEADER. So we would have:

Management

Medical management

Statins

Aortic valve replacement (AVR)

Surgical valve replacement

Percutaneous (transcatheter) aortic valve replacement

Non-replacement treatments

Apicoaortic conduit

Balloon valvuloplasty

Could we add the text edit in those sections? Euroarti (talk) 14:18, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Medical management / statins can basically be dealt with under the heading "medications" IMO. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:37, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes we could merge these two into one section if clearer. The copy is ready, please let me know if we could work together to update those sections. Euroarti (talk) 14:47, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by "the copy is ready"? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 15:01, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The copy that we would like to update. Euroarti (talk) 15:13, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The version you would like to update is here yes. You have provided some headings above. That is all I see. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 15:27, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Euroarti, please respond to my question above about conflict of interest. Your not answering, is a pretty clear sign that you are editing in violation of the Terms of Use. If you are, it is not fatal -- it is fixable by disclosing and working with us on this. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 15:24, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
