Template limits

The reason why the COVID-19 pandemic template is too large to use in the first place is because the article is cluttered with too much content. There's way, way, WAY too much information on this certain aspect of the pandemic, which goes into deep, intricate detail on a day-by-day basis. There's already a whopping 718 references and counting, and we're only three-and-a-half months into 2021. In contrast, Timeline of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom (July–December 2020) has 615 references, but the article covers the last six months of 2020, and the size is still quite manageable to the point where the templates are still visible. There's only so much that a WP:SPLIT can do here. I strongly recommend cutting out as much excess information as possible to give the templates more breathing room. Thank you, Edl-irishboy. I think the article needs to be slimmed down even more as it goes along. I don't want to see this article split up into multiple articles; ideally, it should be split only once, since that's what always happens whenever a timeline article for a certain year gets too long and unwieldy. And I'm not sure if Ireland should get that much material for its timeline articles when the situation in places like the US is even worse, and the US' timeline articles have only been manageably split by year and not by certain months. If that's the case, what do you think we should do now? I don't want to remove each and every information from previous days and months, as that's just my hard work gone. I was quite shocked that the US Timelines articles are so short with only one thing being added each day. I know that the US has a lot of news on COVID-19 daily, but it seems that editors and users don't keep track and record it on the article. I've been working hard through this pandemic and have recorded each and every information on the pandemic in Ireland since April last year. It is still my intention to split the article to two (January–June 2021) and (July–December 2021). If that is the case, I will have to maybe 'limit' the detail I put into information added, and to only add a few references and citations and not 3+. @Edl-irishboy: That's mostly because we have articles that cover COVID-19's impact on the individual states, e.g. COVID-19 pandemic in California, COVID-19 pandemic in Texas, etc. Your idea of how this article should be split was also my ideal scenario, but at the pace the content is going right now judging by the number of references, there could be around 1,000 references by the time we get to July. Fair enough. As I mentioned, it's still my intention to split the page. We have another two months until this page is split into two (i.e. January-June & July-December) - The UK's pages are like that as well. This article is in my opinion no different than the other 4 Timeline of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Ireland articles. The only thing changed is that I have added the {{Collapse top}} and {{Collapse bottom}} templates in. In relation to references, I believe I've actually done a good job on reducing the amount of them added in daily – Unlike the 668 total references in the July to December 2020 timeline, and unlike the 740+ references in the UK's January to June 2021 timeline. As we have lived through COVID-19 and have seen it evolve through 20 months now, it's clear to me that these timeline articles will be quite large.
