Point of view issues

References lacking, and the few that exists are not citing original sources, or biased sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stenemo (talkcontribs) 09:52, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IL1RL1ST2 Cardiac Biomarker – ST2 is a relatively recent discovery in the human body and has been studied extensively in the past few years. It has been studied in thousands of samples, dozens of clinical trials, and has been published in over 50 medical journals. However before much was known about this, the protein was called IL1RL1. When it is discussed in the medical field, it is referred to as ST2, no longer IL1RL1. Two week ago, ST2 received clearance from the FDA to begin being sold in the USA. The page needs to be updated so people searching for this prognostic cardiac biomaker will be able to find more information on it. Mizooks (talk) 23:13, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose – Both the Q01638 protein name and IL1RL1 is interleukin 1 receptor-like 1. I just created a redirect from ST2 Cardiac Biomarker to IL1RL1 so that anyone looking for the former is quickly redirected to the later. Boghog (talk) 22:33, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - I concur with BogHog. This article is about the gene/protein and its function, therefore we should use the HGNC official name. A biomedical or diagnostic application of that gene, such as the ST test, may be a subject suitable for its own article however. Alternatively a redirect does the trick. Article split

Per this discussion, I have split out the material dealing with the gene and protein to IL1RL1. Boghog (talk) 07:36, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
