Side Effects

One of my friends reports that he was given this drug and now his hands tremble so badly that he can no longer do the artwork he used to enjoy doing. I don't see this side effect being reported on the main page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.167.163.124 (talk) 18:28, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the whole Adverse Effects section needs to be redone. In particular, it should start with an easy-to-read list of common & serious adverse/side effects such as listed by some major medical source such as the FDA or Medline. Surprisingly, these two sources seem very different in what they list. The in-depth material is hard to wade through but could remain if the most important effects are listed initially. In combination with alcohol?

Does anyone know of any special side effects that occur when taking this drug together with alcohol? Not sure if this can be found anywhere. — N-true (talk) 23:43, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dupuytren's contracture

Why is this paragraph here at all? If it is relevant, the relevance needs to be clearer. Wcmead3 (talk) 06:30, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The placement and length & detail about Dupuytren's contracture seems inordinate. The paragraph does not even state there is any connection to Primidone.
Dupuytren's contracture is not listed as a side effect or adverse effect of Primidone by medline.gov. The page's reference Critchley EM, Vakil SD, Hayward HW, Owen VM (May 1976) does show a high incidence of Dupuytren's contracture with phenobarbitone, but a lower incidence (2 of 21) of those taking primidone or phenytoin without phenobarbitone.
A 2019 article in Neurologist concludes "There are a few reports associating barbiturate use to connective tissue disorders, and some suggest that drug withdrawal may result in a better prognosis. Therefore, physicians must be aware of such adverse events when caring for patients on long-term barbiturate use."
I would suggest that this whole paragraph be replaced by "There are a few reports associating long-term barbiturate use to connective tissue disorders, including Dupuytren's contracture." and referencing the Neurologist article. I suggest that this sentence be placed near the end of the Adverse Effects section. MabryTyson (talk) 10:48, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Section on "successive anti-convulsants"

I have commented out this section because it does not sufficiently focus on Primidone at present. It reads as if it was pasted in from a more general piece on the history of anticonvulsants.

It would be worth restoring a very trimmed-down version of this section provided that it focuses on Primidone and explains in plain English what its history was with respect to other anticonvulsants. - Wwallacee (talk) 05:30, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
