Types I-IV

My younger sister was diagnosed with this defect. There is no mention of the fact that there are multiple types of Truncus. I know there is at least four, but I am not knowledgeable in the differences between them. 24.213.101.206 04:15, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a section on the classification. --Arcadian 05:20, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nomenclature

There is some controversy over the naming of this condition. It is also known as "Common Arterial Trunk", as the truncus arteriosus is an embryologic structure.

See: Morphogenetic considerations on congenital malformations of the outflow tract. Part 1: common arterial trunk and tetralogy of Fallot. MM Bartelings, Adriana C. Gittenberger-de Groot

I'll be adding a redirect page here from Common Arterial Trunk, and including hte alternat title in the first sentence.--FunkyDuffy (talk) 16:42, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
