Knightly style of Sir outranks the proffessional title of Dr. In the British honours system the style of Sir is accompanied by the given name, and optionally the surname. So, William Heneage Ogilvie may be called Sir William, Sir Heneage or Sir William Heneage Ogilvie, but never Sir Dr William Heneage Ogilvie or Sir Ogilvie. But even if William Heneage Ogilvie had not been knighted he would never be called Dr because in United Kingdom surgeons are not Dr but Mr.--Abalizelay (talk) 11:53, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
