It is an old thread, but it is worth pointing out that I have replaced the file with File:Alzheimer's disease brain comparison.jpg, since it is the most common of the diseases. Merger proposal

You confuse degenerative with neurodegenerative (as does the first sentence of the article so i'll fix that!): the degenerative disease page list includes neurodegenerative diseases but has a whole lot of others.Richwil (talk) 14:05, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wikipedia Users, I suggest the addition of the following sentence to the Alzheimer's disease section of this neurodegeneration page.

"Dysregulation of the dopaminergic system is associated with Alzheimer's disease." PMID=19047053

There has been many studies on the association of the dopaminergic system with neurodegenrative disease specially Alzheimer's disease. I think this has not been thoroughly discussed in this page. It would be informative to mention the association of dopaminergic system with neurodegeration in the brain.

Orphaned references in Neurodegeneration

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Neurodegeneration's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. Neurodegeneration → Neurodegenerative disease – Better target name, more usual search term; page describes a number of neurodegenerative diseases. Such a merge was suggested on talk page long ago and seems to have become changed to the same target name following a neurodegenerative disorder redirect to neurodegenerative disease that was later redirected back to target page.
