Wikify

wikify needed, just a big black paragraph of letters now! --Suleyman Habeeb 16:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Solumedrol

The commercial name isn't mentioned anywhere (Solumedrol just redirects here). I don't know where exactly to put it. Any ideas? --Filip (§) 23:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think there is an error here, Solumedrol is Methylprednisolone sodium succinate[1], Methylprednisolone is Medrol[2]. From what I can tell they differ in both chemistry and performance.--Doug.(talk contribs) 22:12, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use in Trauma

The use of steroids in Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury has been controversial since at least the mid 1990s. DocKrin (talk) 01:54, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

side effects

One of my friends is taking this. He's finding that he can't calm down and go to sleep.

I'm taking it right now for strep. I feel euphoric/ like I could represent my country in the world cup. 03:58, 15 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.194.223.103 (talk)

Solu-Medrol

Solu-Medrol links here... I'm looking for more information on Solu-Medrol by Upjohn Company and their unique vial system... Could this be added to the article or become its own article? --98.70.128.248 (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I woke up the next morning feeling very weird but took the first pill per the ER doctor. I was so amped up I felt like i WAS ON SPEED. I went to the ER 7 weeks ago due to an allergic reaction to an over the counter allergy medication. They gave me 8mg I believe intravenously and a 4 day cycle prescription. I woke up the next morning feeling very weird but took the first pill per the ER doctor. I was so amped up I felt like i WAS ON SPEED. My blood pressure skyrocketed and I started having panic attacks and anxiety. How long do the side affects last. I have been to my family doctor(whom I just met at the beginning of this) and she has claimed that I have high blood pressure and anxiety. I have no history of either and she is too stupid to see the correlation between the steroids and these new found health issues. PLEASE HELP. I an suffering badly and have no one to turn to. Am I allergic to this stuff or is my body having trouble processing it out? I am so worried that this is going to last forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.65.16.157 (talk) 20:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Taste?

The big question patients have is why does methylprednisolone taste so bad?

Do any of you know for sure?

The fix for the taste is to bring strong mints, Jolly Rancher Candies, or purple grape juice.50.71.35.204 (talk) 01:20, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Corrections and Citations Given

There were very serious errors on this page. Someone had mentioned that spinal injections were approved for certain ailments, when in fact it is not approved by the FDA for this use. All intrathecal (inside the spinal cord) injections are contraindicated by the FDA and the drug's manufacturer. Epidural injections are "not approved" by the drug maker and the FDA and is clearly outlined in a Pharmacia/Upjohn document titled: Depo-Medrol - Reformulation / Epidural Use. The list of adverse events has now been factually updated and proper citations were posted in both "Uses" and "Side Effects" as requested. . --EDNC (talk) 23:23, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Methylprednisolone aceponate

Is there a reason Methylprednisolone aceponate, aka Advantan, is not mentioned here? It has a stub page on the science aspects, I thought it would be here for medical aspects, ie topical treatment for dermatology conditions. Thought this article seems focused just on injectable use.
