Definitions

JIA is neither JRA nor JCA. JRA and JCA have other definitions than JIA, although JCA and JIA do not differ as much. Even in scientific literature people seem to use "JIA" simply as a new term for JRA (in America) or JCA (in Europe) while still using the old definitions. Pain and sleep disorders

I had recently added some information in regards to JIA and pain and sleep disorders. I also had linked an external website (OThealthliteracy.ualberta.ca) on the main page, and I received a comment saying that it was not appropriate for me to link to this website, and that all my information I had posted had been deleted. While I agree that the purpose of Wikipedia is not to advertise or to promote outside sources, I also believe that the OThealthliteracy website provides valuable information to the population, and that the information on pain and sleep disorders in JIA should not be edited out completely, as it is now. Instead of linking the webpage in the article, would it instead be ok to reference the webpage? The OThealthliteracy page is a University-run website, and not for commercial purposes. Many families are not aware of how to access these free resources and we feel that providing information and resources to health care providers and to families of children with JIA is invaluable to the treatment and management of pain and sleep disorders in JIA. Should treatment for SJIA be mentioned specifically since there are drugs approved specifically for SJIA

Therapy

There is a lot of information presented on occupational therapy for a child with IJR. However, there is minimal information regarding physical therapy for this diagnosis. Prognosis

The prognosis section mentions "possible future genetic testing" and should be updated. Current evidence has shown there have been links found in genetic testing for JIA. [1]

Article Evaluation: The article "Juvenile idiopathic arthritis" is relevant to the topic of JIA. However, the prognosis section is referenced by an article with evidence from 1999. Not all facts are backed up with sources, and some that are referenced need updating to more recent evidence. There is no bias within the article and information is presented in a neutral manner. This article does a great job at defining terms. The only thing that distracted me in the article was the section on celebrities with JIA. Article Evaluation: I specifically would like to add more information to the prognosis section of JIA. Differential Diagnoses

There should be more information regarding differential diagnoses. Peer Review

This is a good start, and a lot of the bases are covered. The lead section appears to be complete and concise. In the “Therapy” section, it mentions “the best approach to treating a child with JIA…” This does not sound neutral. I think it should say “JIA treatment commonly involves…” or “Using an interdisciplinary approach in treating children with JIA has shown to be effective.” In the “references” section, one of the sources (28-30) are not cited properly.Cdoyon1 (talk) 20:14, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Cdoyon1[reply]

I believe most of the article is correct besides some minor changes that could be made. Differential diagnoses could be touched upon in greater detail, along with a bit more information on who may be more at risk for developing JIA and risk factors. Additional resources that are more current would also be helpful, as some of the sources are somewhat outdated. Otherwise, there is not much to be done with this page. Good overall, this is a very informative page. A couple areas that I think should be expanded on, if there is information on it, is to update and be more expansive on the prognosis section. It seems like there have been a variety of areas identified that need improvement. I agree that all information regarding JIA should be available for parents to access, and hopefully citing the website will be approved. Improved treatment for physical therapy is a great area to expand on and provide additional evidence based research. This is a well written, thorough article with a few edits that could be made for improvements. First, there seems to be limited information in the diagnosis section of JIA. More sources could be added to support the statements made in this section.
