WikiProject COVID-19 consensus

WikiProject COVID-19 aims to add to and build consensus for pages relating to COVID-19. They have so far discussed items listed below. Please discuss proposed improvements to them at the project talk page.

General

Superseded by TfD October 2020 and later practice - consult regular {{Current}} guidance.

Refrain from using Worldometer (worldometers.info) as a source due to common errors being observed as noted on the Case Count Task Force common errors page. (April 2020, April 2020)

For infoboxes on the main articles of countries, use Wuhan, Hubei, China for the origin parameter. (March 2020)

"Social distancing" is generally preferred over "physical distancing". (April 2020, May 2020)

Page title

COVID-19 (full caps) is preferable in the body of all articles, and in the title of all articles/category pages/etc.(RM April 2020, including the main article itself, RM March 2021).

SARS-CoV-2 (exact capitalisation and punctuation) is the common name of the virus and should be used for the main article's title, as well as in the body of all articles, and in the title of all other articles/category pages/etc. (June 2022, overturning April 2020)

Map

There is no consensus about which color schemes to use, but they should be consistent within articles as much as possible. There is agreement that there should be six levels of shading, plus gray for areas with no instances or no data. (May 2020)

There is no consensus about whether the legend, the date, and other elements should appear in the map image itself. (May 2020)

For map legends, ranges should use fixed round numbers (as opposed to updating dynamically). There is no consensus on what base population to use for per capita maps. (May 2020)

List of streaming performances

After seeing someone removed the list of online performances, I want to make it clear about that list. The list was made after a discussion on Talk:Impact of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic on the arts and cultural heritage and was one of the reasons why this page is created in the first place. I do not intend to list every single streaming performances, but the list should include significant / major performances. Corachow (talk) 03:49, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of deaths

I think a list of deaths of notable performing artists might be in order. We're lost some great performers, from John Prine to Lee Fierro and Ellis Marsalis Jr., due to CoVid19. Bearian (talk) 02:06, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering the same thing, for the “arts and cultural heritage” article. I think the “list of deaths” article is, of course, the place which should remain comprehensive, but it is not sortable in a way that allows people to see all people in one field - medicine, sport, arts... Perhaps instead of a bullet-point list of deaths section in this article, it might be worthwhile just having a sentence or two with a comma-separated list with some of the most notable people from the performing arts? Major overhaul needed to stop listing individual events

Much as with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of public venues and institutions closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's no longer appropriate at this point to list individual venues that have closed or are offering streams; they're all doing it. If someone is feeling bold, chop this down and replace it with more generalized discussion about trends. {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 22:51, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This page is modeled after the impact on music industry page, which also listed cancelled events. The list of streaming events are originally from the arts and cultural heritage page, which was moved here after a discussion on its talk page. I only intend to list major events, so I will chop it down. - e.g. replace individual shows with just Broadway and West End theatres. Corachow (talk) 12:41, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
