Hi there! I am Brian E. Logan, Esq. I am an experienced lawyer, administrator, and teacher. I have been an editor at Wikipedia for 17 years, including my past service as an administrator for seven years. All of my work is my own and nothing I write or edit should be ascribed to any former or current employer. My preferred pronouns are he, him, and his.

If you are one of my current students, please close this window and go away. "Get off of my lawn!"

My careers

I am now a biology teacher, as of 2024, at an independent school in Manhattan. I was one of 1,300 New York City Teaching Fellows, as a science teacher. I started my pre-service training in June 2017, with my master's studies at the Relay Graduate School of Education. I have passed all of my required educator tests and background check, and was provisionally licensed. In the past six years, I have taught at three middle schools in The Bronx, independent and charter schools in Manhattan, and several charter schools in Brooklyn, from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I'm most proud of getting students to pass their state tests. I defended my dissertation successfully in 2019, and completed my certification by summer 2020. For the past three years, I have taught at the high school and AP levels.

I'm also licensed as an attorney and notary public. I taught paralegal studies, business law, and criminal justice at Bryant & Stratton College for 19 years, 16 of those full-time. I am only licensed to practice law in New York.

Previously, I held a variety of jobs, including as a cook, administrative assistant, associate attorney, biology and psychology tutor, salesperson, and corporate trainer. I consider myself a polymath: I graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, and in college, I majored in political science, minored in biology, and earned significant academic credits in chemistry, physics, psychology, and sociology. I hold a doctorate in law from the law school of the oldest nonsectarian private university in North America, where I was a managing editor of the first volume of Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology. I may not be a notable academic, but I was prominent at the college that I taught and even in that sector of Higher Ed. I am most proud that I was able to increase student retention from 40 % to 82 % in my programs.

Wikipedia work

Wikipedia relies not merely on expertise, but on reliable, verifiable, and independent sources. You can always look it up here. I have been an editor for Wikipedia since February 7, 2007. With over 73,000 edits, 195 articles created and kept, I am one of the top most prolific Wikipedians, most recently at # 1,008.

I was chosen an administrator on September 27, 2007, and after more than 7 years' service, resigned on January 16, 2015; however, I will remain an editor.

The Wikimedia Foundation is a private charity, which is open to the public, but doesn't have to take in everybody. One would not suppose one could rush into a Girl Guides campground, an Anglican church chancel, or an YHA youth hostel bunk room, without permission, all the while telling insulting jokes. How can somebody assume they could do the equivalent to Wikipedia? Such persons are trolls and vandals. If you edit here on a regular basis, you become a volunteer for a charity and are held to a higher standard than that of the "Internet rando", that of recklessness. If you become an admin, you are held to the highest standard, that of a fiduciary.

Potential biases

My user name was doxed, so I decided to reveal my potential biases. (At least my cell is still unlisted.)

Yes, I love science, or as some idiot calls us, one of the "science-loving censors at Wikipedia".

I have been a member of the Sierra Club for 23 years, and have won volunteer awards for my work with them and other environmental groups, including Parks & Trails New York and Hostelling International.

In 2001, I was received into the Episcopal Church USA from the Roman Catholic church.

I have been a member of the Democratic Party (United States) for many years. While I am no longer a committeeman, I had been a political consultant and an election inspector, for which I am paid (in 2012, that was about $1,500 total; in 2013-2016, and 2019 $325-$800 annually). I have not been paid, nor do I expect to be paid, for the purpose of any such editing from 2013 through 2023.

I am an attorney, but nothing I write on this website should be interpreted as creating an attorney-client relationship, nor of providing legal advice.

My fiance′ was an Asian-American nursing educator, baritone, and film producer, but is now retired except as an amateur performer.

Wherever I personally know, or am related to, a person, I try to disclose that fact when I have edited their article. This includes classmates, pen-pals, distant relatives, and people I've met. I have indicated so on my contributions page with a , which indicates a person who I know (or knew) personally. I have used a to indicate a place that I have visited personally, or cultural phenomenon that I have experienced. I might be distantly related to Lindsay Lohan.

I despise bigotry in its many forms. It also invariably involves a BLP violation.

I have been owned by several cats and a dog, but am currently not owned by any four-legged companion animals.

I have not been paid to edit by my past employers, which include Bryant & Stratton College, Barnes and Noble, etc.

I hate puff pages that masquerade as articles; for tell-tale signs of such, see User:Largoplazo#Telltale signs of candidates for deletion.
