Questions

How is the histidine removed? Do the bacteria just use it all up, or are some of the bacteria removed from the lawn and placed on a plate without histidine? Gary 04:14, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adding "Larger organisms like mammals have metabolic processes that could potentially turn a chemical considered not mutagenic into one that is or one that is considered mutagenic into one that is not. Therefore, to more effectively test whether or not a chemical is mutagenic to larger organisms, rat liver enzymes can be added in an attempt to replicate this process in the Ames Test."

That would add clarity to the optional Rat Liver enzymes step in the Ames Test Akardoust (talk) 23:30, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
