Advice - notability

Please stop creating these very short film articles. They will just be deleted, and that wastes everyone's time.

An encyclopedia article needs, as a minimum, to make clear what it is about, and to explain why that subject is important or significant to have an article in an encyclopedia. Read Wikipedia:Your first article for guidance.

If it is to be kept, an article needs also to provide references to reliable sources, for two reasons: (a) to satisfy Wikipedia's WP:Verifiability policy, summarised as "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source", and (b) to establish Wikipedia:Notability.

"Notability" is the name for Wikipedia's test for inclusion. The point is that Wikipedia does not want to be a "list of everything", or a place where new things are first described; it only covers subjects which other people have already written about. The notability test looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Youtube, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also Wikipedia:Notability (summary).

For films, the standard is explained at WP:Notability (films).

Incomplete or blank articles are liable to be speedily deleted because we do not want readers of the encyclopedia to come upon them. If you want to take time over making an article, the best way is to click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title. That will make a draft page where you can work on the article, with a link to send it, when it is ready, to WP:Articles for deletion, where an experienced user will review it and either accept it or give you feedback. Proposed deletion of Ninagoskara

The article Ninagoskara has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The article Meera Madhava Raghava has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Yogi (2007 film), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Diff: [1] If you are making an assertion that a film is based on another work, you need to provide a reference, as this can otherwise be construed a subtle accusation of plagiarism, which is fairly common (and probably for good reason) among Indian films. Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Yogi (2007 film). This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Diffs: [2] As previously noted, you need to provide a reference that supports your claim that the film is based on another film. You may be correct, I don't know, but you need to show proof. Please do not resubmit the content without a reference, as it will be considered disruptive. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:28, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Ratha86.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Ratha86.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

The article Baanallu Neene Bhuviyallu Neene has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No content. No text and no references. Only an empty infobox.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ganapa moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ganapa, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Ganapa

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ganapa, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Praxidicae (talk) 10:20, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just to be absolutely clear, Venkateshtandel: you may not copy non-free material (such as the plot summary of this film) from external sources into Wikipedia, and may be indefinitely suspended from editing if you do so again. So ... please don't! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:08, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
