Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Stockholm

Hej!

/Urbourbo (talk) 11:16, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lideta Maternal and Chlid Health Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 14:59, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Thomas J. Anton, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://um2017.org/faculty-history/faculty/thomas-j-anton/memorial.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of KBox

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on KBox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:53, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm back. i have no recollection of the former deletion, so that's not a factor here. I deleted your article, following its nomination for speedy deletion by another editor, because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. Your text was all either unreferenced or referenced only to the manufacturer's own, highly promotional, web sites.
  • There are no verifiable facts to show why this product is notable, such as sales figures, just a bunch of unverifiable claims about supposed users.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: in use in 45 countries... optimised for 30+ different exercises... The benefits of kBox training as compared to weight training... achieving maximum power troughout [sic] all angles — basically a sales leaflet, to support these claims you need independent third-party sources as defined above. The company, or sites reporting what it claims, are not acceptable sources. In particular, if you are claiming benefits, you need a medical or sports science source.
  • You then claim The kBox is in regular use by professional sports teams in top leagues... followed by a list of supposed users. However, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that it is true. Again, you need independent third-party sources, preferably the websites of the leagues, to confirm what you claim.
  • The same applies to the supposed uniformed services and "Renown regular individual" users. Again, you need links to where they have confirmed this usage on their own or similar trustworthy sites. All the "Users" section seems to have no real purpose beyond promotion.
  • You said article was clearly above the average standard of our other exercise equipment articles, which is a little depressing, but the fact that other articles have not been deleted doesn't help you, either they met the criteria or should be deleted as well. See other stuff exists.

I accept that you are acting in good faith, but basically we have an article full of promotional claims sourced either to the manufacturers or not at all. I'm prepared to restore the text to a draft for you to work on, but if I do so, I'll strip out the promo and unsourced claims. You will still need to find independent third party sources to show why it meets the notability criteria linked above, or it's likely to be deleted again.

If you still wish me to proceed to restore as a draft in the light of my comments above, let me know Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:01, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot to mention the "Sources" section. Despite the name, they aren't in-line references, just reviews of the product and an article by the company's founder. This isn't a review site, we don't care what people think about the product, we need text with actual facts, not opinions. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:07, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Jimfbleak, It is clear that we have different opinions in this matter, but I'll give you that some phrases would have needed some further refinement. Although I may not have time to invest in the work you require in the near term, I do wish you to restore the article as a draft (as a sub page to my user page or how you see fit), and I would ask you to restore the content in its entirety, if not else for me to try and fully understand your comments. /Urbourbo (talk) 20:51, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored the article here. I've deleted the unsourced promo and user lists from the text for now, but obviously it's all in the history so you do have the entire text. I'd advise that you don't put the deleted material back until you have independent third-party sources to support the medical claims and the lists of supposed users; although the sandbox gives a degree of protection, sandboxes are still liable to deletion, and many are deleted every day, usually for copyright, promo or web host violations.
Jimfbleak, Just a quick question, do I understand you correctly that from your point of view it would be acceptable if I created the page again with the same content as the current version of the restored sandbox version (i.e. after your edits) for now, pending any future edits/revisions I may find time for? /Urbourbo (talk) 13:53, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I really wouldn't advise that at present. Your three references are all to the company, and are basically advertisements for the product. I think another admin seeing this, even cleaned up, might well look at the refs and think "company spam". You really do need to add some independent third-party sources as defined above. Also, the notability rests largely on the unsupported claims I deleted, so you either need to provide verification of those claims or give alternative evidence, such as numbers sold or similar. I wouldn't rush with this, with any commercial product, it's better to get it right. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:28, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On a completely unrelated point, I'm unsure whether you can use File:kMeter display.jpg under its current self-made licence. It appears to be a screen-shot, and screen-shots of films, TV, video games and the like are usually considered copyright if the film, TV show or game are copyright. It may be that if I'm right, you might need to change to a fair use rationale. Something for you to think about anyway Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:46, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Exxentric moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Exxentric, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:49, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Rsjaffe: Sorry to hear this. My assessment was that this article complied well with verifiability as well as notability guidelines, following considerable efforts in making it fully referenced including several high quality sources, including big features printed in two of the largest daily newspapers in Sweden.
Hence, I would appreciate if you could explain in a bit more detail what facts you felt would require further citations, and I’d be happy to see if I can do anything to further improve the article or explain any of the sources. Thanks, /Urbourbo (talk) 09:43, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:ORGDEPTH, particularly the section on trivial coverage. The notability requirements for corporations and products are stricter than for other categories, due to the ubiquity of coverage driven by the corporate publicity people. In particular, look at the section on trivial coverage. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 15:51, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Rsjaffe: Thanks, I'm afraid I'm still unsure with regards to what sections or sources of the article it is that you are referring to, but I would argue that e.g. the for its notability central references number 5 and 15 provide highly non-trivial coverage, each of which got more than full-page coverage in the print editions (I'd be able to share photos over PM). Then other references such as numbers 20-25 or the scientific studies may not be central for notability in themselves but still add relevant details. /Urbourbo (talk) 21:28, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Once you believe your article meets appropriate notability criteria, you can submit it. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 15:53, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Rsjaffe: Would you say that I should make an attempt to submit it based on the reasoning above, or would you still say it needs revision? Thanks, /Urbourbo (talk) 21:28, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Urbourbo. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Wiliot, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Urbourbo. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Urbourbo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. I have pretty clear evidence that Wiliot was paid for. Now would be a good time to disclose anything else you've written for pay. GeneralNotability (talk) 22:04, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@GeneralNotability: Hi, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. I’ve been doing a bit of reading up on the COI policies now, and it seems they are even stricter on enwp these days than I had previously realised.
It’s correct that I have an affiliation with Wiliot as well as with Exxentric that would both be defined as paid here. Hence, I’ll make make sure to add the templates to the talk pages of those articles and to my user page now. I would appreciate a confirmation that I got everything right, so that I know also how to use these tags if I’d consider any other similar editing work onwards.
However, this does not change the fact that I as always took and will take great care and pride in making articles as neutral and verifiable as possible, which I hope is appreciated.

Deletion discussion about International Neural Network Society

Hello Urbourbo, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, International Neural Network Society, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/International Neural Network Society.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Triptothecottage}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

@Triptothecottage: Thanks, my contribution here was just to create a redirect, whereas other editors chose to create an article instead. I don't have enough insights with regards to the subject's notability to add any value to this discussion. I'd be fine with it being reverted back to a redirect. Best, /Urbourbo (talk) 08:01, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
