Sodium bismuthate‎

"OrganoMetallurgy (talk | contribs)‎ (Undid revision 695794925 by Smokefoot (talk)) [rollback]". What was the problem?

BTW, belated welcome. Looks like youre going to be very active. When you remove something or delete comment, it is helpful to leave a brief note in the Edit Summary.--Smokefoot (talk) 01:29, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It was a picture of the wrong structure.OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 02:21, 6 June 2017 (UTC) Also yes I should have left a note. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 02:25, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. Well, I wouldn't have put it there if I thought it was the wrong structure. These kinds of materials are far more complicated than suggested by the picture that you left behind, which is intended for folks who like stoichiometric cartoons, but its almost a joke for inorganic chemists, right? 3-coordinated Bi(V) with Bi=O bonds.
Thanks for the note about leaving summary. The regular editors here communicate with these edit notes. Cheers, --Smokefoot (talk) 02:36, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Now what's wrong with the structure? Anyway, the replacement is even more egregious.
BTW, if you know a prep of HP(O)(OEt)2, drop me a line or put it in diethylphosphite.--Smokefoot (talk) 13:03, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Smokefoot:, sodium bismuthate doesn't have a perovskite structure. I suppose I should also remove the other image and look to see if there are any better images to replace them with.
I don't happen to know how to prepare diethyl phosphite, but if I find out about a decent preparative method I'll let you know. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 13:23, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK, it has the ilmenite structure, which is very close to perovskite. Checking this AM... --Smokefoot (talk) 13:28, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The ilmenite structure is not very close to the perovskite structure. Here's a entry in the crystallographic open database http://www.crystallography.net/cod/1526788.html OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 13:36, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK, you're right. Anyway, I need to sign off for a few hours. --Smokefoot (talk) 13:39, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm BrownHairedGirl. An edit that you recently made to Dimethylbenzylamine seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please do not place articles in non-existent categories. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:39, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't a test but merely a accident. Thank you for fixing it. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 11:24, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bulk removal of links to vinyl

Please don't do this - it's not an overall improvement to the encyclopedia.

Yes, the link target to vinyl was wrong. However it was still a valid link (in fact, many valid links). It's important to preserve these, even if the target is wrong - the fix is to switch them to a better link, not simply remove them. If there isn't a better link, either create one or just leave the original link (much of WP is less than ideal).

I've created a redirect at vinyl (fabric) which is a better target to point them at. This avoids the target being wrong, and it allows the link sources to be preserved (this is much better than trying to re-add them later). Andy Dingley (talk) 17:07, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It'd take a bit of time, but I can revert my edits if that'd help. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 17:34, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually instead of that I'll go and add corrected links to all of the articles I remove the links from. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 17:43, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well for a few of them anyway. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 18:17, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've reverted my edits or replaced the links on all the pages besides the ones you fixed. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 19:23, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Organo Metallurgy This may be a but strange. I am really unclear as to how I stubble on your writings. However I have learned that coincidence is usually not a factor in my case and should be taken as a sign of relevant factor. Although, I am sure this is not the place to discuss any topics at which pertain to my personal situation. Ask and receive he become an everyday part if my life. And answers are all I seek. Likely, I am not ever posting in the correct place, format, ect. But hopefully, there is more to my curiosity and you will respond in a more private setting. My email is if you are inquisitive yourself. I am only a student if you choose to label the person contacting you now. I wish nothing of inconvenience or harm in any way. In other words. I'm not a quack pot, which I'm sure must be crossing your mind at the moment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.255.137.114 (talk) 22:47, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I might email you later, but I might not. That said, feel free to talk to me here, note however that it is public. I'm not really sure what you mean by my writings, but I'm almost always interested in talking about chemistry and related topics. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 23:29, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Explaining

I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all. DS (talk) 03:51, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NaBiO3

BTW, thanks for your patience with the above issue. My driving forces were (1) obstinance, apparently, (2) a visceral dislike of the cartoon of three-coordinate Bi(V) species with Bi=O multiple bonds, and (3) my ignorance about ilmenite vs perovskite. Also BTW, I found preps for HPO(OEt)2. I dont understand them, but I have them. --Smokefoot (talk) 22:40, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category Question

Hi OrganoMetallurgy... I recently edited the article FlAsH-EDT2 and noticed you had changed the categories, adding it to Organoarsenic dithiolates (which it is, of course). However, it is also an arsenic heterocycle which is true of many of these dithiolates (like melarsoprol and arsthinol), but not all (such as melarsomine or arsenamide). I'm wondering if the ones that do have arsenic cycles should be included in Category:Arsenic heterocycles as well as in the dithiolate category that you have created? I also wonder why arsenic heterocycles like the tetramer phenylarsine oxide is in organoarsenic compounds but not the heterocycle category (which is a sub-category), and why arsenicin A is in both?

I know you have been doing a lot of category work ands I don't work on category structures so please don't take my inquiry as a criticism so much as it is an indicator of confusion. Thanks. EdChem (talk) 20:11, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The articles you mentioned probably should be in the category arsenic heterocycles. I didn't intentionally leave them out. I was mostly just getting rid of overly broad categories which I felt made navigating more difficult. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 20:48, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
PS To answer your question about arsenicin A being in both organoarsenic compound and one of its subcategories, I don't always remove articles from parent categories when I feel it is not obvious that it would be in the subcategory. There are some other criteria as well, but I not sure how to explain them. Also I went and added pages to Category:Arsenic heterocycles. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 21:22, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
PPS @EdChem: forgot to ping you earlier to make sure you know I responded. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 21:29, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, OrgaoMetallurgy, and for the explanation.  :) EdChem (talk) 15:11, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apostrophe

There is exactly one incorrect apostrophe on your user page. Is it OK for me to fix it? MPS1992 (talk) 22:16, 13 August 2017 (UTC) (if not, it is the one after "it" )[reply]

@MPS1992: Sure it would have been fine so long as you weren't changing anything important and you had left an edit summary. But I just fixed it so there's no longer any need. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 22:31, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thank you. MPS1992 (talk) 22:46, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen quite a bit of what they've written regarding chemistry (and a lot of it's horrible), but they don't seem malicious. I'm hoping they'll do better when dealing with another field. OrganoMetallurgy (talk) 20:01, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sodium Bismuthide

Hi. I searched for Sodium Bismuthide that was stated in this transistor article, but I didn't find it on Wikipedia. https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2018-12/dbnl-tmt120718.php I noticed that you edited Sodium bismuthate, so decided to post it here so you could pass it along to whomever might be interested in creating a new article (unless something exists with a different name). I'm not an expert in chemistry, thus best if I avoid starting such an article. • SbmeirowTalk • 00:21, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
