Salom [[Shirin, articles are not at all related to literary merit, nor to number of publications. Articles are accepted or declined based on the presentation of WP:Third party sources that discuss the subject. Your number of published works, linkages with other groups, etc. are not what decide a topic being encyclopedic. We don't care what an author writes, we care about what people write about that author. I strongly urge you to read WP:Notability (writers) to see what components are mandatory for author articles.
Separately, you should not be writing your own article. Please see WP:Autobiography which explains why this is a very bad idea. If you're significant enough to merit an article, somewhere in the world some fan of yours will write one about you. If there is nobody on the planet more interested in writing about you, other than your own self, then why would we need an article? MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:08, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

You are obviously choosing to overlook hundreds of organisations and media who have interviewed and published me. If having poetry published in highly regarded literary magazines like Poetry London, The London Magazine, Index on Censorship, Article 19, Exiled Writers Magazine and many others is not considered merit, then I fail to see what is. If there was nobody on the planet who respected my work, then all of these publications and media would not reflect any of it. I have been interviewed and read poetry in many different media including the BBC, Voice of America, House of parliament fund raising events among many others. I can go on and I don't frankly see the need to do so. There is no need for you to be so rude to some unsuspecting Wikipedia user who only wanted to contribute to a great source of information. I am highly disappointed in your attitude in the way you have replied to me. I asked for guidance as a user and in your position instead of offering help, you have chosen to launch a personal attack on me which is totally unnecessary and unprofessional. I am asking you again to explain how we can prove merit if not through all of the above. If you feel you are unable or unwilling to offer any help then please refer me to someone who can. Shirin, nobody is launching a personal attack at you. It is inappropriate to write one's own encyclopedia article, and I am pointing out the inherent paradox of someone both claiming to merit an article, but also having nobody more inclined to write the article than themself. Would you not concur that a mark of fame should be that someone else is inclined to write about you? If you are famous, have faith in your fame, and wait for the world to produce an article.
Next, I am not "choosing to overlook" anything. As a reviewer, I review what is in the article itself. If you have been extensively covered in media, who have discussed your life, career, etc and you have not opted to supply any of that information, it is not incumbent on me to go searching out that information for you. Again, as noted from the very beginning, marked on the Decline notice at the top of your draft, I suggested you read the guideline WP:Notability (poets) which makes very clear what the sourcing requirements are.
I'm sorry you feel personally slighted, but the fact remains a) it is a very, very bad idea to write your own article and Wikipedia strongly advises you do not do so b) your draft did not provide any of the needed components listed as requirements at WP:Notability (poets), so the draft was declined for that reason.
If you feel that my stance as a reviewer is somehow incorrect, you are welcome to post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk, but I can guarantee you that even a body of other involved reviewers will tell you exactly what I have told you here. I suggest that if you want to write articles, that you write them about topics not directly related to yourself, in order to maintain the objectivity required of an encyclopedia. Citing help

Hello,

I'm a 14 year old boy that makes movies with my cousins. We call ourselves the Kuzkids. We've made 4ish movies and we want to start to get out there more to advertise. I have tried to get everything, IMDb page, Wiki page, and I managed to get a verified business. I can't get anyone to do an article on us, so I can use it as a source. I made one website, but you people won't acknowledge it because it may not have truthful info. I tried using Themoviedb.com, but they said it was on the blacklist. What should I do? I just want to get it on Wikipedia. What source could I use?, we've never had anything written about us by another person other than me.

Hello Kuzkids, if you've never had anything written about us by another person other than me, then there's your answer. Your group does not meet our corps requirement WP:Notability, which by definition means that a lot of other people write about, analyze, critique your group in professional information sources like newspapers, entertainment journals, academic papers, etc. Maybe your group will get famous and get lots of coverage next year, but until that happens, if other people don't write about them, they can't have an article.
Next, see WP:Autobiography; it is a very bad idea to write about yourself, since our articles must be neutral and one really can't be neutral while writing about oneself. Wikipedia is not a place where we allow advertising, promoting, etc. so my suggestion is that you stick to making movies, and leave it to other people in the future to write about your work. If you do want to contribute to Wikipedia and learn about how it works, and more about film, why not help write articles about other films, directors, etc? That way you can still help inform the world, and learn more about your craft. If you're interested in that, I suggest you go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film, introduce yourself to other film article writers there, and ask where would be a good place to get started expanding Wikipedia's coverage of films. Instrumentalism

Hello, Matthew. I understand and accept your rejection of my recent sandbox submission. But let me explain my situation and ask your advice.

When I first found problems with “Instrumentalism,” I hoped I could make a series of small amendments and elicit feedback. But I came to conclude that major revision was required and, after 3 months of trying to arouse interest in my suggestions on talk pages of half a dozen related articles, I got essentially no response. So I started composing a major revision.

Then I realized that sandbox had a place to submit proposals, which I did, thinking I would get corrections of markup or maybe even comments on substance. That’s when I got your rejection.

So what is your advice? I still want to offer a complete replacement of the existing article. I thought I might do it in three or four stages, deleting sections of the present article and replacing them with my new sections—always fearing I would make some mark-up error that would explode the whole effort.

Hello TBR-qed, I see the issue now. Broadly speaking, the "Articles for Creation" process is requesting that a whole article be approved and published, and by definition we don't publish an article to replace another article. If you have posted on the Talk page for that article, indicating your intentions, and have gotten no response, I suggest you WP:Be bold and just start swapping in portions of your Sandbox version into the main existing article.
I suggest you do this in small bite-size pieces rather than en-masse, and that you use the WP:Edit summary little box below your editing window to briefly explain what/why you are changing. That way other people can clearly see the course you're taking and why. I would also urge you to make sure that material you add is properly WP:Sourced, ideally with footnotes, and that you attempt not to remove footnoted content from the current article unless you can state that it is blatantly incorrect/misleading, or that you are adding material that covers the same point but is better written/sourced. If someone objects to your changes and reverts them, then you can start a conversation with that person as to what they do and don't agree with, and collaborate to improve the article. And if nobody reverts your changes, I suppose it's win-win then. Hope this helps. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:43, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Hill article

Matthew,

There is no reason to keep the Keith Richard Hill version of this entry. There were too many errors and private information and no references. I took the best parts and corrected the information, removed the private information and tried to put in references. Obviously I did it wrong so I need to correct that, which I presently will do. I have been a musical instrument maker for more than 43 years. Classing my work as a Luthier is inaccurate. Most of my instrument making has been harpsichords, fortepianos, and clavichords. Keyboard instrument makers are not usually called luthiers, they are called by the instrument they make. My work is unusual in that I make all three types of keyboard instruments as well as building violins, violas da gamba, etc. That I why I call myself, as I have done since 1972, an Instrument Maker. So the correct title for the entry should be: Keith Hill - Instrument Maker, not Keith Hill (Luthier).

Hello VEER™, regardless of conflicts at an existing article, AFC does not approve replacement articles for an article which already exists. You must address disputes over existing articles through Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.
First off, you say they give no explanation. Have you read the Talk page to see if they have raised the issues, and read the summaries (with explanations given) in the History tab of the article?
Just from my outsider view, your version seems very non-neutral, so I very much see why others may object. Yours reads very much like it as written by an adamant supporter of the group, whereas the current version, though very flawed, reads somewhat more neutrally.
I would strongly advise you to post on the Talk page of the article, though it appears you have already alienated a lot of editors by steadfastly pasting back in text after it is removed, rather than discussing the issue, and possibly may be accused of having dodged account blocks to persist in such behavior. It appears that the title of my article draft "Ultimate Restorations" has been misspelled in the message of non-acceptance I received from Matthew Vanitas. I see no way to correct this in the "edit" section of the draft page. Is there a way for me to correct the spelling of the title of my article? Is this even necessary? I don't see any place on the edit page to change the title, but it shows up as "Editing Draft:Ultimated Restorations" instead of the title I chose "Ultimate Restorations" Please advise.

If an artist has won prizes from international competitions, has exhibited worldwide she can't be considered as notable ? If another wikipedia page mentioned her is it not a hint that she is notable ? If that particular page is not in English but my draft article is, should I change the page into English ?

Are you referring to Draft:Queensland University Squadron? It was declined because you submitted it with nothing on the page but sub-page for queensland university squadron for editing main article before transfer. So there's nothing for me to review, so it was Declined. Please do not click Resubmit until you have a draft on the page that you think is generally ready for potential publication.
I'll point out just to be safe, if you write about an organization it is not at all sufficient to just post a link to their website and call it day. We do not publish any article about an organization unless the submitter includes clear sourcing to neutral third party experts. So, if a major regional newspaper, or a book of Queensland history, mention the QUS and discuss its impact, etc. then that you can cite. But one cannot simply paste a mission statement and a link and expect it to publish as an article. Articles require objective sourcing. I strongly advise you read WP:Notability, as the vast majority of articles that don't get published fail because the submitter does not understand our Notability guideline. Hope this helps! Hello TBR-qed, there's no point removing the rejection notice, as that specific draft will not publish because by definition we don't publish drafts for things we already have a published version on the same topic. As replied earlier on this page, just start copying content out of your draft and pasting it into the current Instrumentalism article, being sure as you do so that you leave a clear Edit Summary in the little box right under the editing window.

Hello Kenny, did you read the instructions in the pink box at top of your draft? The guideline Wikipedia:Notability (fictional characters) explains what features an article about a fictional character/group. My biggest initial concern was that it appears the book Loves Me Not Volume One: Beautiful Broken Me doesn't even have its own article on Wikipedia. If there's no article on the book itself, it's pretty hard to justify having a whole article about one aspect of the book.
If I'm wrong and we do have an article about the book, let me know. If we don't have an article about the book and you want to start one, you absolutely must read WP:Notability (books) before doing so. There are very specific things that book articles must have, you can't just tell the author and plot and link an Amazon page, you must show that the book has been discussed by professional writers/critics/etc so that we actually have some perspective in the article. It is not at all enough to simply show that a given book exists.
If you want to write an article on the author, I'd strongly advise reading WP:Notability (authors).
That said, it appears that you yourself are the author of the book. It is a very bad idea to write an article about yourself or your work. Please see WP:Autobiography for an explanation of why you probably don't want to do that, most particularly because you will have no control over the article about you, so if anything bad ever happens (lawsuit, etc) somebody else will assuredly add it to the article.

I can't tell by your account which one, since you're using a different IP address than you used to write the article, so the article isn't associated with this IP. 188.102.130.201, are you the same person as User:Ouiliam? If so, please sign in to your account before editing, as it makes this way easier to follow. If you're not, you have the right to post from an IP, but I'd suggest reading Wikipedia:Why register? for why having an account helps.
The main answer to your question is that you are not understanding the policy WP:Notability. Your only link right now is one article at the Journal of Language and Cultural Education. I have no idea how prominent this publication is, but there's no Wikipedia article for it, which isn't a convincing sign it's famous/reputed. Secondly, the person who wrote the JOLACE article appears to be the someone directly involved with the project; you can't just write about your own work and claim it's famous.
Notability requires you show that a body of independent professional news/info sources discuss the subject, not that it has a website, not that its own employees have written about it. I strongly advise you read WP:Notability which explains what we do need, or read the 10-second version at WP:42. That should answer most of your questions. Hello TKDMaster069, the important thing to bear in mind is that Wikipedia does not accept WP:Original research. That is, we cannot accept things that are in your head or notebook. We can only accept things from published works, from sources that anyone could, in theory, contact the right library and get a copy of, pull up on a news archive, etc. Please see WP:Reliable sources for ideas.

Hello JamesLobley7, the clearest answer to your question would be to take a quick glance at WP:Notability, or if you want the 10-second version, this [[WP:42|summary of the guideline. Fundamentally, for a topic/concept to have an article on Wikipedia, it must be something that is documented by uninvolved parties who have credibility, and must have a larger significance recognized by said authorities. That's not a value judgment, many important things are poorly documented, and many trivial things have whole books we can cite about them. But generally speaking most local sports teams are only written about on non-professional sources like Facebook, blogs, etc. or in purely-local newspapers. If, for example, the West Whatevershire FC were written about extensively by authors, academics, etc. for some curious features (having been in existence for three centuries, being the first in the UK to be racially integrated, etc), then that would merit it an article. However, 99.9% of local sports teams are just that, some pleasant folks who like to get together and play ball occasionally. Which is a perfectly fine thing to do, there's just not any compelling reason that a Wikipedia reader in, say, Brazil or Sudan in the year 2045 would really need such an article to inform their understanding of the world.

Hello R.azz.miligi, the problem is you're trying to submit your personal research. Wikipedia is not an academic journal, it is a compilation of existing published research. Facts that you personally are researching from scratch are not admissible until they are published in a peer-reviewed book or journal. Wikipedia simply cannot use raw materials, as we are a WP:Tertiary source.

Hello R.azz.miligi, I'm not saying you wrote it "from your imagination", I'm pointing out that any research which involves your personal conclusions, discoveries, theories, deductions, etc. is not admissible in an encyclopedia. You could submit your research to a history journal, a newspaper, etc. but an encyclopedia can only cite existing published works.

For logos, you can upload one logo under Fair Use; see WP:Logo for that.
Hello IllyrianDodona! So far as text copyright: I wouldn't bother trying to release it, because text from an "About Us!!!" page is almost always not usable for Wikipedia. If you want to write about the ISA, you must provide citations to news/academic reporting about the organization. Simply writing about the organization based on its own materials will never get it published.
Also, you don't seem to be understanding that if you "release" something, you can't simply do a "you can use this on Wikipedia, but nowhere else". If you release your rights to the text or images (except for one logo as mentioned), those rights are gone, you are no longer the private owner of that text/image. Technically, you've already agreed to do that just by pasting your text onto the draft, so I would remove that text for your legal rights as well.
I strongly suggest you read WP:Notability (organizations) which explains the requirements, and should really clear things up. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:02, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback, I note that contemporary films, especially feature documentaries, are hard to get rigorous articles for, so I am hoping my attempts to show that Good Pitch is a top end model, which has had a significant impact on both funding of and mention of top end feature docs. political fairness

I'm disappointed that, since I'm merely a candidate in the UK General Election (not elected), I'm not allowed to have my own wiki article (it was rejected for this reason only). This gives the current MP, and any other candidate who qualifies for their own article, an advantage. It's perfectly reasonable to expect voters to want to read about all candidates before voting. British media will always give greater coverage to larger parties. Indeed, the aforementioned Telegraph & Argus was the only paper to even mention my candidacy.

Similarly, Yorkshire First do not qualify for any election coverage on TV and radio, even if they stand in every one of the 54 seat in Yorkshire.

Wikipedia strives for neutrality and equality, unlike other media. I believe candidates for major elections should be allowed to have an article, providing the usual rules are obeyed. The page should not endorse or criticize their policies, but merely state what they are with valid references.

If the rules cannot be reformed, would it make a difference if I mention my work as an author and street actor?

Hello Drbobyorkshire, the policy on politicians isn't a fully voted/vetted one, but it gives us a basic grounding to start with. I'll also note that writing about yourself is a very bad idea, I really suggest you read WP:Autobiography for an explanation of why this is a bad idea. Among other things, such a page would not be "your own", you would have no particular control or rights over the content, so if there is any verifiable negative information about you, it would assuredly be added to the article too, and if it's properly sourced you would not be allowed to remove it.
The reason candidates generally don't merit their own articles, unlike seated politicians (at a certain level and up), is that candidates generally don't have lasting fame as candidates (barring high-level ones like PM/President/etc). Generally once an election is over, candidates such as MP candidates drop out of the news and aren't discussed again. I understand your argument that this gives an "unfair advantage" to sitting politicians in a race, but this is true only insomuch as a published author with a body of critical review has an "unfair advantage" over an author who has one self-published novel that nobody in the press or academia has taken note of.
Fundamentally, the policy is WP:Notability: is this person talked about in news media, academia, etc for their acts/accomplishments. If your primary "claim to fame" is being a candidate, that doesn't generally fly. If you are famous, receiving more than just passing mention in news, or purely-local coverage, for either your acting career or academic career, you might potentially rate an article for that, but such could not be used as just a platform to advocate your candidacy. I'll note as well that a lot of your draft is just mirroring your campaign literature with the rather transparent device of appending "Buxton says" in front of it.
In the end, my main suggestions are: don't try to use Wikipedia to advertise/advocate any person or thing (that is, don't come in with a non-neutral priority from the get-go), and don't write about yourself. Really, if nobody in the world cares more about writing an article about you than you do, that doesn't make a compelling case that a lot of people would want to read it. If you believe you fame merits an article, have faith in your fame, and that some neutral party who doesn't even know you personally will find you compelling enough to write about. Hello Intuyes, I do sympathize that there are many, many facts in the world that are known to people but are not officially recorded, but fundamentally Wikipedia policy requires that facts be verifiable through a formal source, such as news articles, academic papers, government pages, etc. We simply cannot accept personal testimony. On second look, your article was published on 2 January, it is posted at Kalicherla. What was declined was your later attempt to create a redundant draft on the same topic. Note that at Kalicherla I had to remove all but the most basic facts, since again they are not cited to anything other than your personal knowledge, but because the existence of the village itself is cited to government records (note the footnote on the page), the page itself is allowed to stand. Hello Cristen Fletcher, unfortunately it's a very common error for new editors to just pick any article in their field and use it as an example. The LeClair article was terrible, I've made some major chops to it, marked it as problematic, etc.
If you want to find quality articles to emulate, please note the chart on the right side of this page: Wikipedia:WikiProject Companies. The chart links you to articles rated as "Featured article", "Good Article", etc. amongst company articles. Those would be a far better place to find a similar firm and emulate their layout.
So far as Draft:Vandeventer Black LLP, what you have right now will not fly, as you're still not showing a body of coverage of the company, from outside eyes. To summarize, here's the 10-second version of Notability:
