About MajesticPenguin

I have only been editing Wikipedia for a week but would like to make significant contributions to Wikipedia to improve the quality of Wikipedia. I mostly edit any WWE-related pages but would like to begin editing pages on other areas and begin to help with the management of Wikipedia. I would appreciate advice from other editors as I am relatively new and would appreciate guidance on the best ways to edit Wikipedia. I am a strong believer in Wikipedia being available worldwide and want to make Wikipedia a better place. If you have any advice or wish to discuss something with me, please leave a message on my talk page and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

Thank you, MajesticPenguin (talk) 17:27, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date removal - Open Forum

Hello. I noticed you made quite a few edits to the Finn Balor article where you removed dates from the article. Not sure why you think that is a good idea? the date provide some context and chronology to the readers so I am reverting those date removals.  MPJ-DK  19:27, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I respect what you are saying but having dates on as well is too convoluting as they are included on the PPV pages. The dates for respective episode of RAW, Smackdown and NXT should be included but having links to PPVs and their dates is unnecessary. I will be reverting the dates but if you wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to leave another message.

Kind regards, MajesticPenguin (talk) 19:31, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I totally disagree, they provide context for Baylor's career and show clear chro ology and to e between events listed in Baylor's article. By removing them it is vague if the events were weeks, no their years apart leaving it harder for the reader to put it all in context.  MPJ-DK  20:09, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • To put this in perspective - you are advocating to remove all dates from Abraham Lincoln that is already mentioned in whatever articles are linked to. So all dates related to his presidental candidacy, election, civil war, assassination etc. - "too convoluted" because it's already listed in other articles. I do not see the logic behind such a move.  MPJ-DK  20:15, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I respect what you are saying but if the dates are included on the PPV pages then there is no reason to include them as it becomes too convoluted. And Abraham Lincoln's page is written in a different format and has no relation whatsoever to WWE-related pages. If you wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to reply.

I have reverted some of your edits that did not appear constructive. Please gain consensus prior to re instituting any of the reverts. Removing dates and locations is something other editors are disputing in these articles as MPJ-DK and WarMachineWildThing have expressed and I share their concern. The article talk pages are the best spot to gain consensus for these changes if you still wish to implement them. -- Dane talk 03:34, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a talk page thread at Talk:Roman Reigns, but maybe it would be better to move to WT:PW.LM2000 (talk) 06:48, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I invite MGP-DK, Dane and LM2000 to discuss removing or keeping dates on this page. I would like to being by saying that I feel having links to PPVs and dates of PPVs is too convoluting. Either way, I would be willing to come to a concensus with any invited editors to avoid any conflict. Please would the invited editors reply in order to work towards concensus.

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Finn Balor, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Because you don't like it or want it there is not a vaild reason. Take your issues to the Article talk page. All Wrestling articles are done this way. I apologise if my edits were not constructive but I think having links to PPVs and dates of PPVs is too convuluted. I am currently discussing this with other editors to try and achieve concensus.

Hello, I have changed this section into an open forum to discuss removing dates on WWE pages. I feel the need for this because there has been some conflict with other editors over these edits and I would like to work with other editors to achieve consensus. Along with MPJ-DK, Dane and LM2000, I invite any editors to give their opinion to achieve consensus over this.
