It reverts all the edits the user made to the article to the last version not edited by the user. If I'm not being clear, then just tell me :). You can try testing in the sandbox if you'd like. Happy editing, Malinaccier (talk) 22:51, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you look at these edits here [1]? When I rolled back the edits, I thought that it was vandalism, but afterwards I realized that they were a new user and probably just were experimenting or trying to find their way around. Yeah, I'm guessing they were confused by the wiki-syntax and tried to remove it. You should undo your edit with an edit summary explaining your error, and then add the information back to the article in a separate edit. At first glance the anon's edits appear to be vandalism, but you are right that they were trying to edit in good faith. Conway's paper on his notation

I think if you want to learn this stuff, it's better just to read his paper, which is delightfully written. You can get it from Andrew Ranicki's website [2]. It seems to be down at the moment, but should hopefully be working later. Otherwise let me know and I can send it to you. If you're interested in learning by writing the article, I think you shouldn't have any major difficulties doing so with this paper in hand. I don't really have time to work seriously on this (although I somehow managed to spend a lot of time thinking and writing about supercompact spaces for no good reason). --C S (talk) 05:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

some comments on the FA proposal

Hi Jkasd, I hope you are doing well. I asked User:Salix alba and User:ArnoldReinhold to take a look at the thread on WT:WPM; they have worked on the article before and previously showed a lot of interest in improving it. Note also that User:Hans Adler indicated support and I believe User:Rick Block will probably show up with some comments if the article gets nominated. I think it may be best to hold off on nominating for about a month; I have a lot of things to do in the meantime, and I've also become dissatisfied with various aspects of the article (which I will describe in the ongoing discussion at WT:WPM). --C S (talk) 08:42, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't use Twinkle. Sorry. I use VP, which is not nearly as good as Twinkle but I haven't gotten around to learning Twinkle myself. I like your approach, though. You caught your own goof, you realized it wasn't actually something to report to AIV yet, and you've asked for help so you can improve. Re:Admin coaching

I actually have someone else in line next for admin coaching before you. I may be able/willing to coach you in a few months. In the mean time, I have some suggestions:

• Try to comment on two or three XFDs per day.
• Edit in the mainspace a lot more.
• Consider moving articles out of your userspace into the mainspace (like User:Jkasd/Cinquefoil knot)

Now it's a longer delay because my weekends includes Mondays. I've put the infoboxes (Docuan tables, as we call them) into the templates for 101 (number) and 102 (number), a prime and a composite. I will wait a day, see if anyone makes adjustments to the infobox, and take what I learn to finish doing this for the 100s. If you continue with the 20s and we each do about a dozen each weekday, we can finish this in a fortnight. PrimeFan (talk) 22:30, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm gonna join in on this. I pledge to do five a day. Today I started at 99 and went backwards to 95. So if you keep going upwards from the twenties, we should eventually meet at some point around the sixties or seventies, at which point you can just keep hitting the right arrows to verify they're all done and viceversa I can keep hitting the left arrows. Climbing Portal

Not sure we need one! There is not much happening at WP:CLIMB. Routes are always going to have a notability problem. Might be an idea to canvass websites such as summitpost and ukclimbing (see also USA eqivs) for new editors who can contribute references to paper media regarding the subject. {{Number}} and {{numtext}}

I wrote that it would be possible to get the rounding turned off on {{numtext}}. It'll take a rewrite of the template, which I was going to do anyway. I've had a look at the code for and some of the transclusions of {{number}} and a couple of ideas/questions came to mind.

• I saw the and in square brackets on some of the pages (e.g. one hundred [and] one), whilst on other pages it was omitted. Why the square brackets instead of plain round ones?
• {{Numtext}}, when it's up and running, will be able to spell out ordinals as well as cardinals (it does now but only up to 100).
• I notice you've got a parameter {{{numeral}}}. What's the difference between that and {{{number}}}? I guessing {{{numeral}}} should be formatted whereas {{{number}}} should not. If that's the only difference use {{formatnum:{{{number}}}}}.
• I also notice you've got a parameter {{{range|none}}} which calls one of a great number of other templates, the sole function of which are to fill in their spot in the infobox. Instead of that, how about something along the following lines? Calculate this range from the {{{number}}} input. Send the result to a subtemplate which will display the ranges in the desired format. This would require only two or three subtemplates as opposed to your couple of dozen odd templates. This way it'll be easier to maintain a consistant display format, the pattern won't have to stop at 200 for fear of going overboard with templates and there'd be one fewer parameter for users to skip. Note that I use the term subtemplate by this I mean templates of the form {{number/range}}, this just keeps things organised so your metatemplates are neatly squared away in the subspace of the template which uses them instead of floating around in the main template space.

Just some ideas. I'll see what I can do with {{numtext}} though it won't be ready for use right away. JIMp _talk·cont 07:33, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

I didn't write Template:Number, but I've added substantially the last couple of weeks. My goal for Template:Number is for most numbers, it will only be necessary to add the template itself to most numbers, unless they have some other special fields that require mention. I don't know if this is even possible for the factors and divisors, but I've already made the roman numerals, and the hexadecimal, duodecimal, octal and binary numbers automatic.

• The [and] is because of an American vs. English spelling difference. I personally think something besides the square brackets should be used however.
• Ordinals will be nice to have too.
• Numeral is actually the Numeral system i.e. for 16 (number) it is hexadecimal. This field is only needed for a few numbers, so I'll just keep it manual for now.
• I was thinking of working on this next actually, I think the reason it stops at 200s is because that's approximately where the number articles end, with only "special" numbers having their own articles after that. Generally, "non-special" numbers redirect to the next lowest hundred i.e. 562 (number) redirects to 500 (number). But I still think that it would be worth it to make it work like you said.

Things are going fine, thank you. Yes I have been busier with school than I expected, it's hard to find time to edit nowadays. I did a quick check on the knot theory page, and I think that besides the formatting and referencing criteria you alluded to, that it is ready for an FA nom. Unfortunately, I will probably not have the time to "guard" the page during the nomination, although I will make an effort to assist whenever it does finally occur. (Actually, it will probably not occur till the summer so nevermind in that case.) I only have a few comments on the article which I will leave on the talk page. Red links

Concerning this edit: You shouldn't comment-out a red link merely because it's a red link. That is against Wikipedia policy at WP:REDLINK. Among the reasons for that are:

• A visible red link is an invitation to write an article;
• When the article is created by a person who didn't know the link was there, the link then automatically works without anyone needing to uncomment it, and if that person or anyone else clicks on "what links here" for the new article, they then find out about it.

New binary template

I think I've got a much better version of the binary template, with a maximum input value of 134,217,727. If you want to replace template:binary, just copy it from User:Vanisaac/template/bin. VI_WS ^talk 11:04, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

The template documentation page still says "if you want to add functionality for them [larger numbers], go ahead or drop a note at Jkasd's talk page". If that is no longer the case - and your response seems to indicate a lack of further involvment to me - I would encourage you to remove that content.
