Ford Falcon Cleanup

Hi James, I am not sure if this would interest you but would you like to help me fix the Ford Falcon article? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Harrison-HB4026 06:53, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Excellent. All I need is for you to help me and the others I have recruited to clean up the page, we will do the rest. In case you haven't noticed, I am a mad car fan. Thanks for your help. Harrison-HB4026 02:05, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S What I would like is to get rid of the infoboxes. Thanks

Unless you took this image yourself, you are unable to release it under a Creative Commons licence. It appears to be an image found online at a news related website. If this is correct, it's likely to be copyrighted and therefore unusable on Wikipedia. Let me know if you need any futher information about image licencing. Cheers. -- Longhair\talk 07:06, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on which website it came from and what their image licencing terms are. Don't worry too much about it. We're all guilty of it at times :) -- Longhair\talk 07:10, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Chicken

Hey Chicken, many thanks for your belated wishes. I appreciate you dropping by and your kind message. Hope all is well with you and your family. All the best, Sarah 12:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Chicken, good job starting the article on Missing Persons Unit. I expanded it a little and added some references, links, cats, etc for you. I was actually quite surprised that we didn't already have an article on that show since it does well in the ratings (I read in one article that it even beat lost one week!) Keep up the good work. :) Sarah 22:29, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:One.png

Thanks for uploading Image:One.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:00, 15 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 11:00, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Australiannewsagentlogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Australiannewsagentlogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Re Parks Victoria

Hey Chicken, thanks for your message. The Parks Victoria article needs some more work before it goes into the mainspace. I'll try to help with it soon. I haven't forgotten your articles, I've just been really busy, but I promise they are next on my list of things to do. Hope all is well. As for your question about changing the font colour in your signature, as you can see from my own sig, I'm not an expert on creating fancy sigs, however, I recommend asking either User talk:Daniel or User talk:Riana. They are both lovely Australian admins and very knowledgeable about such things. I'm sure they'd be delighted to help you get your sig exactly as you want it. List of localities (Victoria)

Hello

Your recent edits to this article have unwittingly put a bit of a spanner in the works of my plans - I've been working offline for some time on a virtually complete list of localities as defined by Vicnames (and official neighbourhoods , recognised place names , alternate spellings and historical place names etc within each locality contained in brackets behind each locality), (see www.land.vic.gov.au for links to maps, and to Vicnames for downloads for place names)

My version of Ararat (almost complete) is below- dates are the periods a PO was open in the area (to generally determine the establishment date, size of a locality), those italicised have never had a PO. (I have written a couple of introductory paragraphs to explain). Red links have been avoided when I could see no particular need for for an article for a locality.

I have used the Vicnames data, the Premier list of Post Offices (with location), the extended Postcode list (the complete list of postal destinations as used by the Post Office) and referenced data on Wikipedia articles to compile this list (has taken a while!) and had intended to simply copy it over the long-neglected list and then open for discussion. I am about four weeks away on this.

Possibly, I could divide my list into regions and the list as it stands now could be for "more prominent localities"??. The list now is of more prominent localities (except Mildura!). I devised many of the shire templates, the idea being that no location was added unless I thought it reasonably justified an article, so these are far from complete.

I welcome your thoughts on this. Cheers (Epistemos (talk) 05:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

Wikimedia Commons

Hi Chicken7. I really like your photos of Victorian towns. In the future you may consider uploading them to Wikimedia Commons rather than Wikipedia itself. All images in the commons can be used on wikipedia just the same as images uploaded here and as a bonus they can be used in other Wikimedia projects such as French Wikipedia, German Wikipedia etc. It will only accept freely licenced images so fair use images such as logos etc. still need to be uploaded here

There are a bunch of images at Commons:Category:Towns in Victoria and your photos would be very welcome there. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 01:44, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I still need to get to Gippsland, Mallee, much of the Wimmera and the western part of the Western District to get adequate coverage of Victoria similar to the coverage of the Riverina. My photos are at commons:Category:Photographs by Mattinbgn. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 02:40, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photos

Thanks for the kind words. If you have good photos of towns already covered, please feel free to upload and categorise them at Commons. Good depth of coverage (i.e. lots of photos from each town) is just as important as good breadth of coverage (lots of towns with photos). Commons:Category:Wagga Wagga, New South Wales would have many hundreds of images.

As for Fentons Creek, Victoria (note: no apostrophes are in place names in Australia), it is an official place name and given that you have some photos I see no reason to not have an article. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 05:42, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, even photos of the same building. See Commons:Category:Finley, New South Wales for some examples of how different photos of the same building can still give a different perspective. The more choice we can give article creators or other users of free media the better, I reckon. It isn't like the servers are running out of space yet!
Regarding notability for human settlements, the best I can do is point you to this essay - Wikipedia:Notability (geography). Note that is only an opinion and not a formal policy or guideline but it does a good job of summing up what the likely consensus is at present. Given Fentons Creek is a populated, legally-recognised place, it would most likely be considered notable, even though the population is very low. The population of the district at the last census is here. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 11:22, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chook. :) I found the message you left me in January asking for a copy of the deleted article on the game, Bounce. There were actually two versions of that article as there are, apparently, two different games - a drinking game and the Nokia game, so I've emailed you the text of both versions and I have replied to your message User_talk:Sarah#A_favour as well. Trust you and your family are well and that the school year is off to a good start. Cheers, Sarah 14:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

list of localities in Victoria (Australia)

Have finally made good my threat of redoing this list (and renaming it)-fairly complete, a few places yet unlocated and may be some neighbourhoods placed in the wrong locality (on the other side of road or creek etc) so could use some help on this (All the spelling is OK though)- Many of the linked articles where all the info. is supposed to be will need some work but I will be doing this shortly. Could it be 2 or 3 page list?? If so, I dont know how to achieve this (Epistemos (talk) 06:08, 2 April 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gracelavella.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Gracelavella.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
