Sleeping Steller sea lions

Thanks for you kind words about the picture, and very interesting work on sleep. I uploaded the image as per request here. Best, Eliezg (talk) 19:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

main page redesign

Hi, I saw your comments over on main page redesign proposal and was hoping that you could take a look at my proposal and give me some feedback.--88wolfmaster (talk) 21:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hide/show main page

Hey, thanks your comments on my main page idea. I have to say, it's pretty thrilling to be watchlisted ;)

I've finally responded to your comments (thread link), as well as to other peoples. I look forward to hearing what you think about them.

I also wanted to let you know that internet access will be spotty for the next few weeks. I'm thinking of archiving my design, and putting up a copy that everyone can feel free to play with. If you see that I've done that, consider yourself personally invited to mess around with it. — eitch 16:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Snail Image

Hello,
I'm responding to the message you left at my talk page. I think the problem only shows up in Firefox browsers. This is what I see on my Screen. The Image overlaps the tittle LifeSpan, I originally removed the image because the article already had another 11 images in the content area (not including those in the gallery). I was trying to follow the Manual of Style for images which states : Avoid sandwiching text between two images directly across from each other. Perhaps reducing the pixel size of the image might solve the overlap. Overall, I think that editors have different ideas of what looks best, so I'll leave it at your discretion. -- $user log (Talk) @ 09:48, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do on the Snail page. I looked at your [Sleep (non-human)] article and it looks very good in firefox :) --no overlap. I think it only happens very rarely (Ive only seen it twice before on other wiki articles). -- $user log (Talk) @ 10:17, 28 July 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by $user log (talkcontribs) [reply]

Silver lake and the great newbie blog debate

Hey

Well, the user in question has now taken up a WP:POINT campaign by removing all the links, see the talk that has gone on since I warned her unofficially and then officially here User talk:Hottertoddy. I am not sure if she is trying to wind me up, but she is definitely beginning to after 24 hours of me calmly explaining the facts, in the face of a fair amount of personal attacks. Needless to say I could have given her a warning from the get go for adding inappropriate links. Maybe you could keep an eye on the situation too, I'd rather someone else gave her the next warning if she continues. Mfield (talk) 00:20, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Toothworm picture

Hi. Osama replied here. Axl (talk) 10:34, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'll do that if you give me the source of the date.--OsamaK 10:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good, thanks. I've just written to the webmaster at Creighton asking about copyright, and I sent a copy of the message to you. --Hordaland (talk) 14:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)][reply]

[Sense of time] article

This thread and the following one, Copyright violation, have been moved to Talk:Sense of time where they belong for context.

Keep discussion of that article on that article's Talk page, please. --Hordaland (talk) 12:12, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello (discussion over?)

Hello. I take it by this edit that you agree with discussion? If I don't hear anything, I will revert to my version once the weekend is over. Happy drinking. InternetHero (talk) 01:17, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ziggy

Strictly speaking you are correct, however I thought the meaning was clear enough regardless, as a "citizens' campaign" is not the sort of thing one keeps indoors. Gatoclass (talk) 09:44, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Normally I'd be the first to agree with you, however, there are other things to consider, like the rhythm of the sentence, and the effectiveness of the hook. I did actually try it the way you have suggested, but it didn't seem to have quite the same zing to it that way. Gatoclass (talk) 10:47, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Wikiquette alerts page open for User:InternetHero; considering your 'slow edit war' with IH, you might have something positive to contribute, helping transform his behavior into something a bit more productive. We have had grammar conflicts similar to what you have expierienced with IH over the Sense of time article.Mavigogun (talk) 21:14, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't try to ruin my name around here. This "Mavigogun" has been here for a full three months yet seems fit to quote all the rules like he actually knows them. He's been stalking me for a while now. The guy obviously has some issues. InternetHero (talk) 22:31, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Templates for the reference style

How did you get that tempate for the reference style in the sense of time article?? InternetHero (talk) 22:31, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, do you mind just saying something about me here. The users (one is a World of Warcraft player) and the others seemed to have put a lot of effort into this "rfc/U", but they completely take it out of context. Anyway, just read at least half of this page and you'll see why I had to get some admins/canvass. I tried following that flow-chart thing for Dispute Resolution, but I lost my patience in accordance to the clause in respect to seeking an admin. Anyway, this is what I mean. "Forgets" to emphasize that I sought help from 2 admins and didn't lose any courteousy. I you can, just try and give your opinion on me. P.S. Hordaland probably sought your help from my "disruption" because of this. InternetHero (talk) 20:46, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, I thought you were in violation of the licencing... Instead of that, you said: "I was also accused of copyvio, but after an explanation of what is not copyvio, InternetHero gave up that discussion". You make it sound like I was trying to "get" you. I thought you weren't allowed to do that. I'm over it: time killed---I'm going out now. No beers, though. Cheers. InternetHero (talk) 21:43, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to formulate that comment neutrally, I really did. --Hordaland (talk) 22:06, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfC/U for InternetHero

I copied your talk page discussion to the project page. I hope that that is ok, but please feel free to revert if not. - Eldereft (cont.) 21:23, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello (Norse colonization of the Americas)

On this edit (and others) you took out a lot of info. I don't see how your edit was constructive. There will be a call for a consensus as soon as I can get a hold of the other users on that page. InternetHero (talk) 22:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are, as all my edits are, meant to be constructive. I'll be happy to defend them as required. --Hordaland (talk) 23:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
IMHO, the edits like this don't make much sense in respect to proper English. I don't wat to offend you, but I don't think your grammar is that good. Perhaps we can both preform a test to see whos better? InternetHero (talk) 04:06, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This edit was pretty good. I'm going to start that now. InternetHero (talk) 04:35, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Check it out, I used your style. :-) InternetHero (talk) 22:29, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sleep medicine

Updated DYK query On 15 August, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Sleep medicine, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Norse Colonization

"(1 year in & pages of ref, corrected capitalization in Time-Life)" - perhaps use these Wikipedia:Citation templates, which have the advantage of keeping punctuation consistent. I think that knowing the page number of a reference is more useful than knowing how many pages there are - puzzled about that part of your edit Tedickey (talk) 20:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Query moved here from my user page (!)

A few hours ago, the following was added to my user page by user Mridu Verma:

Hi, I wanted to know wikipedia's policy on acceptable external links. I had found some articles in a site useful and added information from there and the link also. You informed me that this was an unacceptable external link. [2]
thanks and warm regards
Mridu Verma

This was in response to my comment on her/his talk page 01 February 2008: "Copperwiki is not an acceptable source.", after s/he had added links from there to Smog, Sleep, Loneliness, Silk and Wheat. --Hordaland (talk) 10:54, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The link is certainly unacceptable, especially the slightly spammy way in which it was added, but you might want to consider not biting the newbies. Just out of curiosity, did that edit to your userpage give you a You have new messages box? It presumably should, but I have never tested it. Regards. - Eldereft (cont.) 20:52, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

September 2008: Siesta

"Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Silly tests, even if you revert them yourself, steal time from other editors who check edits. Please refrain. --Hordaland (talk) 09:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)"

Is this an automated message? I'm not sure what 'test' you're referring to.. I simply reverted vandalism from User:71.202.173.133 who kept re-reverting back so I warned him and he stopped. OlEnglish (talk) 09:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
