Streamlined process for granting instructor rights

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia and welcome to the Wiki Ed Foundation. Message me if you want to talk Wikipedia sometime.

I noticed that you have been granting course instructor rights to new users without going through the established process for doing so. I acknowledge that the established process is highly problematic and stifling, and wish that there were a better way. I am glad to see Wiki Ed staff granting user rights, because I presume that also means that Wiki Ed also has resources to follow up and manage the people to whom it grants user rights. Still, if someone wants to do something out of process, the usual way to do this is to write a protocol somewhere for a new way of doing things and then propose that protocol as the new process. Have you considered doing this? In my opinion, your work would be less surprising if you did.

The reason why educator rights have not been handed out on mere request in the past is because it was thought that doing so would lead to messy, awful problems. If only you commit yourself to be responsible for any problems and you promise the backing of Wiki Ed, then I think everyone would be grateful for you to give out userrights in the casual way that you are doing.

I expect that other Wikipedians would share my perspective, and I hope that you do too. I am happy to see you around and I hope that your position brings relief and reform to the way we have been doing things. @Bluerasberry: Thank you for your warm welcome to Wikipedia. I am really excited to be a part of the Wiki Education Program! As far as granting course instructor rights, I was following the instructions of LiAnna (Wiki Ed). I have alerted her to your concerns, so feel free to reach out to her.
