James Randi

Why did you restore the "Fruitcake" message at Talk:James Randi that twice been previously deleted ([1],[2]), and for which the editor who added it was repeatedly warned? Nightscream (talk) 15:22, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lead sentence of James Randi

Please do not continue adding information on James Randi's sexuality to the lede sentence of his article. Your edits go against our Manual of Style guidelines on this topic. Specifically, our guideline says:

Ethnicity or sexuality should not generally be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the country of birth should not be mentioned in the opening sentence unless they are relevant to the subject's notability.

Randi's sexuality is not relevant to his notability; that is, he is notable for being a magician and a skeptic, not for happening to be a gay person. His sexuality is mentioned, properly, under the personal life section of the article, but it doesn't belong in the lede sentence of the article.

In short, your re-addition of this to the lede violates Wikipedia guidelines. I am removing it, for the second time, and ask that you not re-add it again in violation of the guidelines. Continued editing that violates our guidelines is subject to blocking. keɪɑtɪk flʌfi (talk) 16:15, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
