Merlin

It's great that you want to add the novel to the Merlin article however the standard policy is to add mentions or depictions of Merlin to Fiction featuring Merlin because of the simple mass of material that deals with the Arthurian Legend. If you have any questions about this see the talk page of Merlin, or ask me. SADADS (talk) 12:44, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately wikipedia user's are not the ones who get to decide what is and isn't notable. Find a literary reviewer that supports your opion and reference him/her. This would help comply with the Wikipedia: No Original Research Policy and would only improve the quality of the Merlin article. Read the No Orignial Research policy, maybe that will help you understand why we can't reference it. Feel free to keep asking questions. SADADS (talk) 15:37, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realize how poorly cited the Merlin page is. Standard policy dictates that you should cite sources that make each statement valid using the references template. However, I see that the Merlin page is not doing this very well. I believe many of the media pieces there are not pop-fiction but those that created substantial changes in Merlin's depiction, such as T.H. White and C.S. Lewis, both very reputable authors. Also, I think the mentions of romantic authors etc. are significant and relevant because of their depiction of an unique idea. That the article does not have in line citations is a fault of previous editors, however I would suggest that any addition of media references for Merlin be referenced to an article or statement that proves it's significance, so that it is easier for whoever decides to go through the article and reconcile it with policy. The Merlin in Media page is modeled after a similar page on King Arthur I believe.

You are allowed to start a new article anytime you want and it is instantaneous, and if you would like my help feel free to ask.SADADS (talk) 17:57, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Made new page

I made the new page upon your request/suggestion, Cyr Myrddin, The Coming of Age of Merlin. I will be gone for a week, but hope everything works out the best.SADADS (talk) 03:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to rephrase the sentance which discusses notability so that it is a statement of fact not a statement of notability. Remember that the page is not the place for lobbying for the subject rather the talk page is.SADADS (talk) 15:43, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
