Orphaned non-free media (File:Alexander Rybak - Fairytales (album).jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Alexander Rybak - Fairytales (album).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:43, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated For New Orleans, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/For New Orleans. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hey, JeanColumbia reccomended I asked you about the formatting of the table in this article :). I was trying to get my head around the coding for the table and its just impossible for me! Is there any way we can make the coding for the table simpler yet still make it look effective? I'd very much like to work on the articles for alot of the years. I think maybe something similar to the West End Theatre article where the shows are listed? Lemme know what you think xx Mark E (talk) 10:13, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Rio de Janeiro temporary logo for the 2016 Summer Paralympics

Actually they didn't. I tried to find one at the IPC's website, but all I found was the logo with the Olympic rings. That would be a discrepancy, therefore, I decided to replace the Olympic rings with the Paralympic symbol. I prefer this, but I can remove the Paralympic symbol from the logo if appropriate. You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Merrick

Hello, as a member of WikiProject Disability, I was wondering if you would do me the favour of having a quick look at Joseph Merrick, an article I'm currently working on. Merrick (aka the Elephant Man) was famous for his physical deformities and was exhibited as a "freak" in Victorian England. Another editor suggested that I ask the advice of the members of the disability project with regard to whether or not the language used in the article is appropriate. For example, I'm trying to avoid labelling Merrick as a freak, but have still mentioned freak shows. In your opinion is this appropriate? I'd appreciate any input if you have the time. Don't worry if not. The project talkpage didn't look that active, so I thought I'd ask you directly, and I'm also asking User:Dodger67. Thanks, --BelovedFreak 23:49, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Brazilian Paralympic Committee logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Brazilian Paralympic Committee logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

World Wheelchair Curling Championship

Hello there! Thank you for creating and maintaining the 2011 World Wheelchair Curling Championship. I noticed that you edited the World Curling Championships template and added the section on wheelchair curling. While I appreciate your addition, I would also like to request that, in the future, you would notify the members of WP:CURLING about any major changes made to an article/template that would be significant. In this case, the WCC template is seen on many various pages, so a notification of any changes made or a request to alter this template would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Multi sporting events calendars

Hey what is your opinion on the following issue: Should the word "ceremonies" be centralized on calendars, such as the 2012 summer paralympics calendar? I am having a dispute and would like to hear you opinion on here [1]. You created the calendar for the summer paralympics and left the word centralized can you expalin your reasoning there as well. I am for centralizing the word, because ceremonies are not a medal event, and therefore should be centralized and distinguished from medal events. Thank you. Italy at the 1960 Paralympics

Hi. In response to your edit at Italy at the 1960 Summer Paralympics... We have something of a quandary. The IPC says Italy fielded 27 athletes. (See also here.) Now, I know the IPC database may be incomplete, but there are two things bothering me. First, I don't see what events those extra, "phantom" 38 athletes might have competed in. There were no team events in athletics in 1960, and Italy (apparently) didn't compete in whelchair basketball. The IPC doesn't list any team events with unnamed athletes from Italy. Second, I was under the impression that all athletes at the 1960 Games received a medal. Not only does the IPC website say so (by listing only one, two or three athletes in each event, and indicating that each got a medal), but I remember Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson raising the point when she was commenting for the BBC during the Athens Paralympics. (She noted that the Paralympics were now a truly competitive event, compared with the earliest Games when all participating athletes had received a medal.) Now, she may have been misinformed, but the IPC website certainly suggests that was the case. Which leaves us with the thorny issue of contradictory sources. Do we go with the official source (the IPC), despite its imperfections, or do we go with the single source that contradicts the official data (but which seems quite explicit and precise)? Or do we simply note, on all the relevent pages, that there is a contradiction? Aridd (talk) 10:55, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Good work on that! It certainly does throw a wrench into the reliability of the IPC website for the earliest Games. That's going to make it more complicated to create or fill in articles to provide accurate results, but at least now we know the IPC can't be fully relied on for the early Games. (Maybe Dame Tanni, too, had only looked at/heard about the IPC data.) Thanks. Aridd (talk) 09:21, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Basketball at the 1960 Summer Olympics: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. Hello. You previously voted in the 2006 AfD for Suri Cruise. At the time, Suri was less than 10 days old, and the ultimate verdict was to turn the article into a redirect to her mother's page.

Since then, Suri has become much more notable in her own right as a toddler fashion icon, with over 13 million hits on google image search. After getting an administrator to lift the protection on the redirect, I recently restored the article as a stub, but an editor who believes that "6 year olds are not inherently notable" has again requested deletion.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate your making your opinion known at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Suri Cruise (2nd nomination) Warren Dew (talk) 07:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Invitation to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Bib. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:Beachvolley team Kjemperud - Skarlund, Norway, logo.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free logo being used in a decorative manner in Jørre Kjemperud#Team Kjemperud – Skarlund and Tarjei Skarlund. If this logo was being used as the primary means of identification in a stand-alone article about "Team Kjemperud – Skarlund", it probably would be acceptable per WP:NFCC#8. In the individual articles about the players, however, the logo itself is not the subject of any sourced critical commentary and does not improve the reader's understanding of the article content to such a degree that not seeing it would be detrimental to that understanding, which means that the context required by WP:NFCC#8 is not evident.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:09, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Marsalis Music Honors Bob French.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Marsalis Music Honors Bob French.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:05, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:TheMasksoundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free movie album cover being used in WP:DECORATIVE manner in The Mask (film)#Soundtracks. Non-free cover art for movie soundtrack albums can be used for primary identification purposes in the main infobox or at the top of stand-alone articles about album in question, but they are pretty much never allowed to be used in subsections of articles about the corresponding film per WP:NFCC#8, WP:NFC#cite_note-3 or WP:FILMSCORE, unless the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary to provide the context required for non-free use. That's not the case with this file, so there's no way to justify its non-free use per WP:NFCCP.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
