Clean up request

Could you take a look at this and see whether it still needs help? Da Stressor 00:02, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

After this update I now agree with you that a block should be considered in this case. EdJohnston 13:38, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I've removed my initial comment just so Google doesn't index his personal details. Thomjakobsen 21:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for keeping me informed about Killercop.com. While I would have continued working on it I completely understand the reasons for its deletion. —Noah 21:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

RfA?

Rfa? Rfa???? So THAT'S how it's done!!! Dude, I've been trying to find out out to become ad admin for over a YEAR!!! I've been asking everyone I can how it's done, I got a pretty good Editor Review just over a year ago, etc. I tried asking Newyorkbrad and Mindspillage how to go about becoming an admin, since I met them at the Wiknic, but I never got a reply from either of them! And now, out of the blue, you drop into my lap the info I've been waiting for! Thanks! Would you mind nominating me? Nightscream 02:34, 2 November 2007 (UTC) copied by Bearian'sBooties 15:31, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

???? I nominated myself two years ago? When did this happen??? I don't recall ever doing this. I recall asking about how people become administrators, but I'm positive I've never nominated myself. And in any case, doesn't the RfA page say that people can nominate themselves? Why would this have caused your attempted nomination of me to fail? What exactly happened? Nightscream 19:52, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh wow, I just found that page from July 2005. It was so long ago, I totally forgot it until I read the top portion where I apparently nominated myself. I didn't even know anything about answering candidate questions, as no one notified me about that. But why would this affect someone else's nomination of me more than two years later? Nightscream 20:01, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I accepted the nomination, and answered the three questions. Thanks again. Nightscream 06:59, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
No, I won't do that. I don't vote for myself even in situations where it's permissable. (When I was up for Class Artist back in high school, I nominated and voted for one of my best friends, and he in turn nominated and voted for me.) Nightscream 18:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks again. Nightscream 05:49, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for everything. I hope to make you guys proud. :-) Nightscream 15:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

My recent RfA

Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Although the voting ended at 36/22/5, there was no consensus to promote, and the RfA was unsuccessful. I would like the thank you nonetheless for supporting me during the RfA, and hope that any future RfA’s proceed better than this one did. Again, I thank you for your support. ≈ The Haunted Angel Review Me! 02:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you so much for suppporting my RfA. I was promoted with a total of (44/1/0) - a vote of confidence from the community that I find humbling and motivating. I will not abuse your trust. Look forward to working with you! (Esprit15d 21:25, 5 November 2007 (UTC))

Re. Co-nom?

Hello Bearian. I am sorry, but I only nominate (or co-nominate) users whom I've been screening for some time. But thank you for your invitation. I shall participate in this RfA once it is launched. Best regards, Húsönd 23:09, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you to everyone who participated in my Request for adminship, which was successful at 50/5/0 on November 5th, 2007.
It became, as you may know, rather contentious toward the end (though fortunately no gunpowder was involved), and I appreciate the work of other Wikipedians to keep it focused. --Thespian 02:19, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Bearian, i need your help to resolve this issue

Please find below my request to EdJohnston dated 6-Nov

Dear EdJohnston,

Please find UST Global leadership team in the link http://www.ust-global.com/leadership.aspx
Do you really want to have external links that have outdated/wrong info about an article in Wikipedia? Wiki is an Encyclopedia which is most popular in the world and widely used for collecting accurate information about anything under the sun. Anyway Business Week has updated the content to the actual facts about the leadership team of UST Global. FYI the link to the same http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=4298931. I think now you might have understood why I was removing this link before, when it was carrying outdated information.
Can I ask you to check few pages in Wikipedia itself regarding UST Global content and find what i am trying to say here? This is very important. Could you please check the link http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=UST_Global&limit=500&action=history.

This link takes you to the earliest revision history page of UST Global. Please find when this page was initially drafted and when did the user Steve Ross started editing the page. This wikipedia page was started in 2005 and Steve came in to picture by 2007. The most interesting thing here you can find is the first few edits by Steve Ross. He added himself as co-founder of UST where right now he wants to mention himself as founder of the company. Don’t you find that this user is inconsistent with his edits and this proves that his intention is to advertise himslef? Also could you please check whether this user has contributed anything else in this Wiki page other than adding his name in different roles of UST Global?

All you want to know about UST Global is available in their website (www.ust-global.com). Also I want to repeat here that I am not here to violate any rules or policies of Wikipedia. I just want to point out the anomalies in this Wiki page. Could you please listen to my request. This is genuine.

I'm not ignoring you

I'm trying to fix it, but (1) my internet connection sucks at the moment, and long files are hard, and (b) something is very weird, usually it's a simple cut and paste but it's formatted all weird this time. I'm working on it, of you or someone fixes it first then all's well, otherwise, please hold on. --barneca (talk) 14:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

"equal numbers of keeps, deletes, and comments"

11 deletes, 5 keeps - the rest with no or insignificant contributions or obvious socks. That's possibly still a no-consensus, but hardly "equal".--Docg 17:10, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

There is a Personal life section that shows up in the Edit window of this article, but the section heading does not show up in the article once saved. I've never encountered this phenomena before, and it's really weird. Any ideas? Thanks. Nightscream 20:03, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks - UST Global

Dear Bearian,

Thank you very much for the timely help in resolving the issue. EdJohnston has removed the pointless contents from the UST Global Wiki page. I think that this issue has been settled for the time being, but incase if I need your help on this in future, I will definitely let you know.

To support my argument I can point several instances from Wikipedia itself that the user Stephen Ross is confused about the edits that he has made in UST Wiki page as well as some other related Wiki pages. I have tracked several instances where he has deliberately attacked one company which is UST Global.

Another RfA Spaming

OhanaUnited's RfA

Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.

Why did you eliminate a cite to this:

Your Question

On my recent Rfa you asked me how have I improved since my last Rfa. Though my Rfa is now over, I feel obliged to answer your question. In my last Rfa there was 2 major concerns:civility and edit warring. Since then I have stopped bitting newbies, and I have not said anything uncivil. I do not want to be a uncivil editor because that has a terrible effect on the community. I love the idea of wikipedia, and I want to help it, not hurt it. I have stopped edit warring as well. I have learned to stay away from wikipedia when under RL stress. When stressed you are more apt to act stupidly. Have a nice day:)--SJP:Happy Verterans Day! 22:30, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of Jay wen

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Jay wen, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Jay wen is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Jay wen, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot 01:01, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

AfD closure comment

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are trying to say via the comment you left on my talk page. Obviously given the articles great additions and improvement, I am fine with the page staying. However, I do strongly believe those changes were made because of the AfD (meaning without my nominating the article, it wouldn't have been improved). It is clear that the revision that I nominated was proper for deletion. - Rjd0060 01:30, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Howdy Bearian, thanks for participating in my request for adminship. I am happy to say it was successful, 55/0/0, and I am looking forward to getting to work. Thanks for your vote of confidence. By all means, feel free to check in on my work to come. Suggestions and advice are always appreciated.

My RfA

Thanks for supporting My RfA. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go well, and it was closed rather early. There were a couple of recent issues raised by some other editors that I think it's best to put a bit of time between. But I don't plan to go anywhere; most of the things I do on wikipedia really don't require any special powers anyway, so it's not that big of a deal (having the powers would've made things easier, though). I'll probably try again sometime in the spring. Cheers! Dr. Cash (talk) 05:11, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

RfA for Canadian Paul

Four years ago this day, a foreigner was voted by the community to serve a land that he loved. Today, a new foreigner humbly accepts the charge and support of serving a community that he loves. Hopefully, he won't disappoint.

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (47/0/1). The trust bestowed upon me by the community is one of the most touching honours that I have ever received, and I vow not to let you down. Whether you have suggestions for ways in which I could improve, a request for assistance or just need someone to listen, my talk page and my email are always open. I pledge to do what I can to help this project, in the words of a man who needs no introduction, "make the internet not suck." A special thank you goes out to Tim Vickers for nominating me. No problem! It's actually probably the article that I see on my watchlist the most often, nearly always vandalism, glad to see it finally got a decent amount of protection. Strangely enough, I think Pomegranate is a close second. Cheers!!! Murderbike (talk) 00:14, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you closed the AfD debate for this article citing WP:OUTCOMES, but I can't find anything in that list that supports this claim. The closest is the section on notable lists, but this article fails that criteria because it is almost exclusively external links. Most of those links fail WP:EL and WP:NOT to boot; those that don't can easily be incorporated into Subversion (software). Previous outcomes in this regard include, for example, List of international travel guides and web sites. Thoughts? (Reply here - I'll watch your talk page.) Mindmatrix 16:13, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Will you give me a break? I've been out of town for Thanksgiving week, visiting my mother, who had stroke the week before Turkey Day. I posted a note for that at WP:AN. I'll get to it and fix it up to standards ASAP, which I do all the time. There was no reason to nom a 2nd time. If you do not like a closure at WP:AfD, then take it to deletion review. If you do not like an article, please make a real effort to fix it yourself 1st. Thank you. Bearian'sBooties (talk) 21:24, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Tailzie has been created as a stub with references to several outside sources - not bad seeing as I had no idea what it was until about 10 minutes ago! Davidkinnen (talk) 22:29, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Feu has seen references and citations added - still a couple of facts that I couldn't verify. Davidkinnen 21:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I did a bit of cleaning up the form and tone of this article (which seems to be an odd school project). Would you care to check it out and note what may still need to be done (aside from the citations, that's still a mess)? Cheers! Murderbike (talk) 01:39, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, after our collective cleanup, I think that the article is in decent enough shape to warrant removing the tone and cleanup tags. If you disagree, I guess reinsert them and let me know what more needs to be done. Murderbike (talk) 19:09, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

John Brown Anti-Klan Committee

I recently added an article about the John Brown Anti-Klan Committee. This seems to be a topic with which you might have some familiarity. The article is a little short, so if you have anything to add, please help out. I've had some trouble finding good information online, and I don't have any other sources about the group, except for a brief mention in a book about racist skinhead violence. One thing I'm confused about is the role of the JBAKC in the bombing of the Capitol Building in 1983. The article states that the group claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the May 19th Communist Movement article attributes the bombing to that group. This blog has an excerpt from a communique published in the JBAKC newsletter, but it's not clear whether the communique is from another group and simply published there, or is an actual claim from JBAKC itself. For this reason, I left out any mention of the bombing. Any help in getting at the truth would be greatly appreciated. Mycota (talk) 16:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
