Dientamoeba fragilis and Blastocystis

Any objections to adding Dientamoeba fragilis and Blastocystis? DF is accepted as a pathogen in most countries. Blastocystis has entries in DiseaseDB and MESH codes, plenty of clinical literature. Gastro guy 05:17, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In most cases on Wikipedia, articles for the infectious agent are separated from the disease. Is "Blastocystosis" the appropriate name for the medical condition caused by Blastocystis? If so, could we split it out? --Arcadian 12:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. And there is even Dientamoebiasis. Would it be a good idea to move the medical info out of the Blastocystis into Blastocystosis, leaving Blastocystis with the advanced microbiology? I'm going to re-work the DF entry as well, as it's a little thin. Gastro guy 02:22, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be a good idea if you could do that split, and put a Taxobox at the top of the Blastocystis article. --Arcadian 11:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All done. I'll see if I can get a photo of Dientamoeba fragilis. Gastro guy 05:44, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diseases template

This is supposed to be a diseases template (per name, title, category, etc.), but lately the emphasis seems to have shifted away from diseases to parasitology.

I think we should move it back to dealing with diseases (i.e. disease first), de-emphasize taxonomy of organisms.

If want to keep the focus on parasites, then the name, title, category, color scheme, etc. should be changed to make it a parasitology template.

Since there are several templates with similar issues, tried to centralize discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine#Disease navigation templates - emphasise disease vs. causative agent. Thanks. Zodon (talk) 02:48, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template name

Recently this template was renamed to "Unibi diseases". As I was unable to find any citations to the term unibi or unibi disease, I have moved it back to a more readily intelligible name.

The value of splitting the template is unclear (since the section split off was not large), but if split is to be done, should retain intelligible names for all sections. Zodon (talk) 21:30, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
