Description of suggested change: Proposal for the U.S. National Heritage Areas to be added. National Heritage Areas (NHAs) are designated by Act of Congress, intended to encourage historic preservation of the area and an appreciation of the history and heritage of the site. As of January 2024, there are 62 NHAs, some of which use variations of the title, such as National Heritage Corridor. It satisfies all the five criteria:

  1. ...official designation consisting of a reasonable number of sites: Requires approval from POTUS and whilst not directly administered by the U.S. National Parks Service, the NPS has a consulting / advisory role. Local coordinating entities, typically a city/state government authority or non-government organisation, administers each NHA. Currently, n = 62.
  2. ...must be an article about the register on Wikipedia: see National Heritage Areas.
  3. ...scope must be identified: National, in the United States only.
  4. ...text and a color scheme: Recommended color is #C5A788 in keeping with nav box of same color. In need, a fallback to #DACAA5 could be adopted due to accessibility issues.
  5. ...valid callname: Recommended NHA; or fallback USNHA, with full call names listed below.

I would like to propose the creation of a designation for Historic Monument of Poland, Poland's highest national designation for historic sites.

  1. It consists of 126 entries, although some shared, such as the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace in Kielce, or the St. Mary's Church and medieval walls in Stargard, so it may be used in more articles. The list is successively expanded.
  2. The article exists, although it might be worth moving from the current title to Historic Monument (Poland).
  3. Scope is national - Poland.
  4. Text: Historic Monument of Poland. Colour 1 chosen arbitrarily: #EE919F. Colour 2 taken from the flag of Poland: #D4213D
  5. Callnames listed below.

Code for Template:Designation/text:

 |HISTORIC MONUMENT (POLAND)|HISTORIC MONUMENT OF POLAND|HISTORIC MONUMENTS (POLAND)|HISTORIC MONUMENTS OF POLAND|POLISH HISTORIC MONUMENT|POLISH HISTORIC MONUMENT S|POMNIK HISTORII = [[Historic Monument (Poland)|Historic Monument of Poland]]

Code for Template:Designation/colour:

 |HISTORIC MONUMENT (POLAND)|HISTORIC MONUMENT OF POLAND = #EE919F

Code for Template:Designation/colour2:

 |HISTORIC MONUMENT (POLAND)|HISTORIC MONUMENT OF POLAND = #D4213D

I would like to propose a designation for Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level in China under adminstration of the National Cultural Heritage Administration. It is the highest level of protection for immovable cultural relics in China.

1. It consists of 5058 subjects under protection
2. It has a Wikipedia article: Major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection, although I believe the title to be translated wrongly, it should be Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level, as it is shown in signs on protected subjects officially. See File:Protection signs of buildings on the Bund, 2019-10-18 01.jpg
3. Scope is national, only in Mainland China
4. Text: Major Historic and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level (China)
5. Callnames listed below

Code for Template:Designation/text:

|MAJOR HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITE PROTECTED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL (CHINA)|MAJOR HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITE PROTECTED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL|MAJOR CULTURAL HERITAGE SITES UNDER NATIONAL LEVEL PROTECTION|MAJOR CULTURAL HERITAGE SITES UNDER NATIONAL-LEVEL PROTECTION|Major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection

Code for Template:Designation/colour:

 |MAJOR HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITE PROTECTED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL = #B7EBDF

Code for Template:Designation/colour2:

 |MAJOR HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITE PROTECTED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL = #CD071E

For some reason, when I'm using it the Croatian one pops up. Its also not on the template list yet. Do you know why? Daftation 🗩 🖉 20:22, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There was a typo in the code above. I have fixed it in the template and added China to the documentation. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:55, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just realised I forgot the capital letters. Can you add that please? Looks weird without capitalisation. Sorry for the inconvenience. Daftation 🗩 🖉 16:02, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to edit {{Designation/text/sandbox}} and {{Designation/testcases}} until the sandbox template displays the way you want it to display. The documentation is also available for you to edit. The capitalization matches the article name; that article was moved one month ago by Cfls; I do not see a discussion on the article's talk page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:10, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the article name at Major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection is wrong, Talk:Major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection is the right place to discuss a proposed change (or a reversion to the previous name). – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:47, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do think the designation should be capitalized. Even if the name remains the same. Every other designation is capitalized. Daftation 🗩 🖉 20:48, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A scan of Template:Designation#National/regional designations, the table in which this entry has been added, does show some inconsistencies. For example, National Treasure of Japan and National monument of Ireland, which are acceptable because one is a proper name and one is not. It appears that "Major cultural heritage sites under national-level protection" has not been accepted as a proper name, so only the very first letter should be capitalized. Registered battlefield

Entering "Registered battlefield" in Template:Infobox historic site brings up "Invalid designation". Can this be fixed please? Cnbrb (talk) 13:43, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to the template documentation, the accepted values are "NHLE Battlefields" and "UK Registered Battlefields". There are also similar values for US battlefields. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:57, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Not clear from the documentation! Cnbrb (talk) 15:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
