Is there an automatic way to calculate cases per 100K?
@Mr Xaero: - Thank you for moving the Vermont county data statistics to this new table format. A question - I am just manually updating the number of cases and deaths with numbers from the Vermont Dept of Health data dashboard. Is there an automatic way to calculate the number of cases per 100k? Is there a bot or script I could run to do that? - Dyork, The calculation that I use is (Cases ÷ Population) × 100,000 but I use Excel to process that data via a spreadsheet. The formula for excel is =ROUND((B2/E2)*100000,1) where B2 is cases and E2 is population. — Mr Xaero ☎️ 16:14, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Mr Xaero, Ah, thanks. I'm doing something similar in a spreadsheet to calculate a percentage for the chart. I guess I was just hoping there was some magic way I didn't know about. ;-) That formula does make sense. In the case of Vermont, though, the VT Dept of Health does already provide 'Cases Per 10,000' on their data dashboard, so instead of calculating, I could just grab the numbers from there. However, they are basing their calculations off the 2010 census data versus the new data that appears in this template. So their numbers are different (ex. 27 / 10K for Chittenden County vs 26 / 10K using the newer numbers). Thank you for explaining what you did! - Dyork (talk) 21:44, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- I obtained the numbers from the List of counties in Vermont article which says the data is from the 2010 Census and the National Association of Counties (NAoC). — Mr Xaero ☎️ 22:31, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
