The spy that told the Russian about sub noise
It's John Walker who sold the secrets about how noisy, and therefore how easily trackable Soviet submarine were. Walker had access to "reports on submarine operations, technical manuals, and daily key lists that were used to unscramble all of the messages sent through the military's most widely used coding machines". In Blind Man's Bluff ISBN 006103004x Parameter error in {{ISBN}}: invalid character, Sontag and Drew said that if Walker had given such items, the Soviets would've known that their missile subs were followed by much quieter subs, and submarine quieting technology would be critical in controlling the sea.
Another sub in V-III ?
Seems to refer to K-414 Daniil Moskovskij. This sub isn't listed in the article?

Speculation on pod on upper rudder
"Speculation immediately mounted that the pod was the housing for some sort of exotic silent propulsion system, possibly a Magnetohydrodynamic drive unit." Should have a reference. I can agree that it probably gave peopel fits wondering what it was. But mentioning Magnetohydrodynamic drive unit without a reference make me think someone is influenced here by the movie and book Hunt For Red October Wfoj2 (talk) 01:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
