Talk:Venous stasis

Regarding the suggestion that this article (venostasis) be merged with the general medicine topic 'stasis,' I do not agree. In my 21 years of experience in medical transcription, I have seen the problem of venostasis (and other forms of peripheral vascular disease) evolve from a relatively rare condition to a quite frequent one. This is perhaps due to the fact that many people have become more sedentary in those 21 years due to vastly increased computer use and other behaviors which involve immobility over long periods of time. People do not walk as much. They do not use their legs as much, and this extended immobility is indicated in many studies as the primary etiolgy of the upsurge in this pathology, although other factors such as genetics, blood dyscrasias, etc., may have roles.

This increased frequency of venostasis, therefore, has become almost a subspecialty among vascular surgeons and internists, and I honestly believe that the article on the subject should stand alone and be expanded beyond stub status.

Thank you.
