Which image for the May 4–6 (Central and Eastern United States) section

There is a disagreement between editors on which image should be used for the May 4–6 (Central and Eastern United States) section. So, which image should be used for the section?

  1. Current image – Low-end EF3 damage to a large metal power pole near Lockett, Texas.
  2. A tornado near Seminole, Oklahoma on May 4.

  • Option 2 – The Commons only has 6 images in the Category of Pictures of tornadoes in 2022. Currently, only 2 of those 6 images are used on this page, and a ton of the current images on the page are damage images, including Option 1, the current image in the section. For the reason of diversity, and how few tornado images are avalible to use for this article, Option 2 should be used. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 21:58, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Extra information for technical purposes: There is a disagreement between editors for which image (option 1 or 2) should be used for the section. Following the WP:BRD process, a discussion was started, which did not garner any opinions besides discussion starter in 10 days. Following a 0RR process, an RfC was started, as the original discussion included a mention on the WikiProject Weather talk page, which also failed to gather new opinions.   • Option 2 – The Commons only has 6 images in the Category of Pictures of tornadoes in 2022.   • Option 1 - If option 2 were not so fuzzy and indistinct, WeatherWriter's position would be unassailable. Image 1, however, is emblematic of tornado damage, and it is a relatively strong image on its own behalf from the standpoints of composition and visual appeal.   • Option 1. I am responding to the request for comment about which picture to use. As general background, I am faculty at a well-known R1 University and have significant science knowledge, although I do not know much more than a layperson about weather. The second image is somewhat blurry, whereas the first is quite clear. More importantly, there is already a radar loop for the first tornado. If the second image were to be used it would replace this loop, which I do not consider useful. Therefore Option 1 is IMHO the only viable one.
  • Also I have to add that I had great trouble reading this article, and the earlier 2021 one (for context and comparison). They are incredibly dry lists which few will ever read beyond the first paragraph or two. There are enough meteorologists who have public jobs that someone should be able to make useful format suggestions.Ldm1954 (talk) 22:48, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Option 1 I'm usually for tornado pictures, but option 2 doesn't really show anything (I dare say that that tornado was still a funnel cloud at the time as I see no damage being done; I also saw the event on TC as I live near this area).
