Talk:Thomas Cook AG

It seems that the logo has been moved from the Thomas Cook page, claiming that this is 'the real' Thomas Cook page. This page is actually far less accurate than the 'Thomas Cook' page. In the first instance, there is contradiction in the fact that this page professes to be about 'Thomas Cook AG' yet is categorised as a United Kingdom company. The company structure shown here is also confused. It is a shame that content has been removed from another, more accurate (though not perfect) page. Maybe the pages should be merged? 84.12.65.194 07:46, 6 February 2006 (UTC)bobab[reply]

Anachronisms

the name was changed following the 2002 acquisition of Thomas Cook.

According to de:Thomas Cook AG the acquisition took place in 2001.

In 1999, Thomas Cook AG sold off its worldwide Foreign Exchange business to Travelex to concentrate only on tours and holidays.

This cannot be true. Thomas Cook AG did not exist in 1999; and the company (C&N Touristic AG) now called Thomas Cook AG has never owned the Thomas Cook Foreign Exchange business: it had been sold to Travelex before C&N Touristic acquired the Thomas Cook name. -- Picapica 13:39, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Further anachronisms

Thomas Cook AG (now merged into Thomas Cook Group plc) no longer exists. The article needs extensive attention to reflect this. Perhaps the articles, too, should be merged? With so many former and existing (though often renamed) companies involved, can those with experience of handling these company "family histories" advise? -- Picapica 19:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The normal routine is that if the pre-merger company is a notable company with a notable history. then that company's article is preserved and renamed with the addition of (former) to the article name. e.g. Telewest (former) merged into Virgin Media. The company's new identity gets a new article with pointers to it's previous incarnation. The Thomas Cook AG/plc/My Travel mess will be a fun one to tidy up. - X201 20:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Thomas Cook logo.png

Image:Thomas Cook logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
