Talk:Taenia saginata

I think that this parasite is actually called Taeniarhynchus saginata. It is not the same genus as the "pig tapeworm" Taenia solium. It should be noted however that CDC does not make this distinction in their classification.

This user appears to be correct: Taeniarhynchus saginata is a synonym for Taenia saginata, but it fails the google test by a large margin. Still, the pages that use both terms seem to prefer Taeniarhynchus. I couldn't find anything definitive, so for now, I think we should keep it with the more commonly used name. I made the new name a redirect to Taenia saginata, and we can change that if we find out for sure. Dave (talk) 06:36, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Humans acquire the infective larvae from eating undercooked meat i.e.,measley beef.

"Humans acquire the infective larvae from eating undercooked meat i.e.,measley beef. "

What does "measley beef " mean? Rare beef? Beef that has measles? People have been barely cooking beef for many decades. Rare is very popular. I never was a fan, myself.

Should move information about the disease to the disease page (Taeniasis)

Once again, this page is mixing up information about the organism with information about the disease. This information should be moved to the disease page. EvM-Susana (talk) 22:58, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Very basic information on the disease and a link to the disease article is best practice.Wzrd1 (talk) 23:49, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, although now I am a bit unsure of how to do this: we have two pages on the organism Taenia which both have a bit on disease aspects (which may differ?). So if I moved them across to the Taeniasis page then I would have to merge the information or split it in two subsections. I am not sure whether there would be huge difference. The two pages that I mean are Taenia solium and Taenia saginata. And I see there is even a third one which also contains information about the disease: Taenia asiatica EvM-Susana (talk) 00:08, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
