Article title
This move to Sustainable drainage system was made in accordance with policies of WP:PRECISION and WP:SINGULAR. The subsequent move to Sustainable urban drainage system does not cite a policy, but is presumably made with reference to WP:COMMONNAME. I've reincluded the former term (which is sourced) in the lead. It would seem to me that the non-specific term is "sustainable drainage system". If some people choose to apply the principles and the term in specific urban environments then so be it. However, they're the same thing. If the term "sustainable urban drainage system" is to be used exclusively, the article should only discuss urban systems. -- Trevj (talk) 05:33, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Reliable sources seem to use both terms, both before and after the creation of this article on 25 May 2006, e.g. papers found at http://www.riool.net/riool/udird.do, ASCE (apparently interchangable terms in title and abstract), CIRIA literature review of Feb 2004. The National SUDS Working Group (including within its Jul 2004 "Interim Code of Practice for SUDS") uses the term "sustainable drainage systems", although vaious CIRIA publications include the "urban" term. -- Trevj (talk) 08:05, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

The body of the article severely lacks citations. Perhaps the references included in the lead should be distributed throughout the text to support each background statement. For example, I suspect reference [5] is misplaced; it is not a good reference for the fact that “the term sustainable urban drainage system is not the accepted name,” because that Daily Northern Ireland news report does not discuss the nomenclature of SuDS, but rather the possible economic impact of installing SuDS. The hyperlink for reference eight [8] is “Not Found” on the EPA’s website - perhaps another version of this Low Impact Development fact sheet should be substituted. The tenth reference [10], a drainage study conducted in an Australian park in 2013, isn’t cited within the body of the article at all, so its significance is unclear. -- Ccluff4 (talk) 05:56, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Historical information about the history of drainage systems and the invention and emergence of SuDS is needed.

Examples of implemented SuDS would also improve this page. The included list of drainage systems (basins, rain gardens, swales, etc.) should be augmented with pictures and specific sites where those systems are in use.

Proposed merge of Green infrastructure for stormwater management into Sustainable drainage system
Basically the same topic with the same outline of topics, not sure if the terms should be merged. Content that doesn't combine with the sustainable water management could also be partially integrated with green infrastructure. Sadads (talk) 13:27, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
