Cannabis Correlation

It is insulting to Wikipedia in my opinion to include the argument here against cannabis-induced psychosis. There are many more factors that could contribute to psychosis rates in the public than cannabis use, and saying that an increase in cannabis use did not accompany an increase in psychosis rate is not a good argument against cannabis-induced psychosis. As correlation does not imply causation, an absence of correlation does not imply an absence of causation in every case. This said, we should give other valid arguments against cannabis-induced psychosis, as they do exist. Vivamoque (talk) 06:27, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Case studies and a Note on Evidence

This article is not very rigorous. It has claims included in it that are not founded by the links in the References. Hallucinogen-induced Psychosis has no link attached to it, and several OTC medications have single case studies as their evidence. Vivamoque (talk) 06:27, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

There is an incredible controversy over this subject, that is not reflected in the article, as it is in others, such as the article on HPPD. Vivamoque (talk) 06:27, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading content

I know there are studies that show no correlation between marijuana use and the onset of schizophrenia. And only a minority believes it wouldn't have happened anyway. Where is this represented? I see that tobacco and caffeine are mentioned as unknowns. Why is marijuana treated any different?

Also, energy drinks in sufficient doses can induce paranoid psychosis. I know this first-hand although I am not going to find sources tonight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.48.102 (talk) 02:18, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Causation vs correlation

The article seems to suggest that substance use causes schizophrenia. However, it seems to ignore the idea that the converse may be true- that schizophrenia causes the substance use. Pgemmell2 (talk) 03:43, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that your concern is already addressed here. Though I think it won’t hurt if we can have an article like Psychosis-induced substance use. --Dustfreeworld (talk) 05:12, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While some mental disorders are linked to substance (mis)use, I'm not sure if "psychosis" could induce substance use. The converse is however well established. Can you link to any WP:MEDRS that states schizophrenia induces substance use, Pgemmell2? --WikiLinuz {talk} 06:35, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it has a different name. Self-medication [1].
